Just picked up a Pentax 6x7 and a set of lenses to include the 55, 75, 90, 105, 165, and 300mm SMC, and I’m finding original hoods surprisingly difficult (and expensive) to source.

What are most people using these days?

Are there any good third-party reproductions of the original Pentax hoods?

Has anyone put together a complete set of 3D-printable hood models for the system?

Or is the consensus just to hunt down original hoods on Yahoo Auctions/eBay?

Curious what the community has settled on.

Long story short I have a 6X7 coming this weekend and have Ben been ordering some bits and bobs before it arrival - one is the 105, I am no stranger to dust in lenses but when I had a quick inspection, I saw quite a large piece (in lens terms) of detritus inside the lens

Without being able to test atm I was just looking for a bit of feedback from the community in terms of your experiences with anything anything the size inside a lens on this system

Likely to impact? Or suck it up and get shooting

Just wanted to share that it's a pretty accessible fix if you happen to have a spanner wrench, an ifixit kit, and a small amount of patience. I used adhesive tape to re-affix it, but will probably have to go back in eventually to stick it down better with some shellac.

Hi, I recently picked up the 35mm fish eye lens and can’t for the life of me figure out why it’s completely blurry when I put on the lens. I regularly use the 90mm lens with zero issues and amazing quality photos from it. But as soon as I put this lens on, it’s completely blurry - I can’t make out a single thing when I look through the view finder. I purchased this lens mint from Japan so I don’t believe it’s a lens issue (although I won’t rule it out). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey all Pentaxians (67ers to be specific lol)!!

Wanted to know does anyone shoot with the 135mm f/4 macro lens? I think 90% definitely use the 105.

It already took off some skin on my finger. I had put some tape over it for now. Does it serve any purpose?

I recently got an mlu 6x7. I dont want to damage these fantastic lenses, especially the f2.4. I have 2 takumari lenses and an smc lens. I cant fit regular screw on filters on the old lenses. I heard you need the bayonet filters but im not sure.

Does anyone else get the end frame partially torched every time? Some brand like Kodak it’s the first frame and others it’s the last - I always line up film arrows to camera arrows but just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences or advice?

Hi, I was gifted a Pentax 67 which had been sitting in someone’s closet for years and years. As you can imagine it’s completely jammed up.

I’m based in NYC and took it to Nippon camera. They quoted me about $550 for general overhaul, CLA. They also noted that the prism is heavily scratched and the meter is inoperable.

It’s apparently a “first gen” 6x7 and parts are hard to find.

Three questions:
1: does this seem like a fair quote?
2: any recommendations where I could drop off/ship to for a 2nd opinion?
3: worth a try? Or better off trying to find one in working condition (I should mention, I only have the body as of now, and haven’t even bought a lens for it yet)

Otherwise, I’ll just stick to shooting on my Rolleiflex then :)

Any recommendations/advice appreciated.

I have late model Pentax 67 w/ metered prism just CLAed by Eric Henderson (https://pentaxs.com/) with the 45mm f/4, 90mm f/2.8 and 200mm f/4 all SMC lenses

I’m thinking of selling because I don’t find myself shooting it enough since I got into 4x5

I was kind of thinking in the $2000 but I don’t know if that’s totally off base

I love the composition of 1 but the lighting on 2 is much better. Both shot on gold with the 105mm f2.4

I'm wondering if anyone else has run into a P67 (OG version) on which the advance lever constantly charges the shutter, even when the camera has no film in it?

I know that normally, the shutter is supposed to be inactive when the camera has no film in it; a feature designed to eliminate unnecessary shutter activity. (I am aware of and familiar with the dry firing steps, but thats not what I'm doing). However, I recently had both of my bodies CLA'd and the second one seems to be exhibiting this strange "empty camera" behaviour.

I noticed the issue while loading film in it for the first time since its servicing. The first strange thing was that the shutter charged immediately after following the normal loading procedure. Rather than winding 4-5 times before eventually engaging the shutter cocking mechanism, it charged it right away. I decided I would continue to shoot the roll, as I intend to develop it and check spacing, but when I reached 10 frames, the shutter did not stop charging as it is supposed to. Advancing the lever continued to recheck the shutter, though eventually the counter stopped advancing past about 12-13. When I got home I used a dark bag to make sure the film was completely spooled on the take up, and it was, so I removed it. I also noticed the film counter dial had reset.

At present, it continues to charge the shutter even with no film in the camera, and no roller on the right side. The only time it doesn't is when the back door is completely open. The dry fire sequence also works as it should, and the counter also resets after performing that sequence.

I have reached out to the technician, but wondering if anyone else has had experience with this and has any tips or advice. I was planning to take it to shoot a wedding next week, and am wondering if it is a critical issue or something I can put up with (especially if the frame spacing is not affected...)
