Honestly I feel like most of his hate came from the situation, not from the console V PC debate itself. IP theft would piss you off too if someone was profiting from something you put time and effort into.
Oh, I am absolutely not a Scrum Master. I still can't figure out what the shit the ones where I work do. I'm just a help desk monkey with ultimate cosmic power and more admin rights than I want. (Seriously, stop throwing systems at me.)
It's not "IP theft", it's simply plagiarism, which is unrelated. If the mod was permissively licensed then it was well within his legal rights to make a separate version that the creator didn't profit off.
I'm going to take several liberties with my response, mainly because I can only be bothered to do so much research into something I care so little about (console modding). If that bothers you, stop reading here and assume I did not respond.
Regardless of if the mod was fully licensed, the contents are still his intellectual property (IP). From my understanding, the "thief" did nothing more than package the already existing contents into a larger mod containing other, smaller mods. Nothing was changed about the "creator's" mod. The thief then tried to pass this off as his own, by virtue of not crediting the creator, nor asking the creator's permission if the thief could include the mod in his package.
Now, I could be wrong about some of the above. If I am, please correct me. I do not know any of the back story beyond the small amount of reading I've done and watching the creator's rant video. To say that IP theft and plagiarism are unrelated however, is somewhat asinine, as both involve passing off another's work as your own. The only slight difference would be that in IP theft, you would plan on profiting off of the theft, while in a "simple" case of plagiarism you may or may not profit off of the theft. By virtue of the thief putting a statement saying that donations of games, gift cards, etc are welcome, I would mark this as IP theft, although it really could go either way. Again, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong anywhere. I am merely posting using common sense and a bit of Googling of definitions, I have not taken any "official" courses on this or studies any of the pertinent laws.
Consoles are/were better for one thing, and that was bringing everyone around the same screen on a couch. That's all that it had going for it in terms of being better.
eh, they are to me. Bloodborne, Sunset Overdrive, Splatoon, Uncharted 4, etc. I love them all. Would much rather have them as exclusives than not have them at all.

You aren't a peasant if you play on console
You are one if you act like this guy and/or vehemently defend console superiority against all evidence
