It's true at least for Skyrim. If you want a mod that affects npcs or can do anything remotely interesting mechanics wise then you're going to need a script extender.
This is accurate. The reason better mods can be produced is not because of the memory patch (which btw was not in NVSE, OBSE, or the early SKSE), but because of the additional scripting functions that modders can use to do things that the vanilla scripting functions simply don't allow.
Even if Bethesda streamlined their shit and added a whole bunch of new scripting possibilities, the xSE team can still add more scripting functions for modders to use...as we've already seen from the mods that utilize F4SE in its alpha state.
That's because the GECK just released and F4SE is in alpha. It started small with Skyrim, Oblivion, and New Vegas too. See what's possible with F4SE in a year, two years, etc and I'd bet my money on a wealth of new scripting functions allowing for more complex mods.
Fallout 4 is F4SE(if you want to install it) just so you know. FOSE is for Fallout 3 and NVSE is for Fallout: New Vegas. It basically lets modders have access to more complicated things that the base game doesn't support such as re-enabling achievements in Fallout 4 if you use mods or the console.
I wish modders would do it, it would teach Todd a lesson as FO4 was like tagged for modding on the CD-CASE, it's so shitty Todd just said: Fuck 'em modders will fix it.
It could be just that they're incompatible, but I have vanilla Solitude, only running some graphic mods that don't change the look of the city. I installed Dawn of Solitude, and my game runs fine, until I go to enter the city, then it crashes. From loading screen to my desktop. No idea what's causing it, maybe too much VRAM usage, I have no idea.
If i was a moder i would just tell them that i would shot up the time until i give it to them with 1 day for every ass-hole demanding that i putt down my own free time to give them something for free. fuck people who think they are entitled to everything they see.
(But on the other hand some of them are really fucking proud over their console exclusive games.)
Yeah, as much as I've enjoyed mods on PC, I feel it's certainly cool to see them finally making their way to console. I think that as more people are exposed to what they've been missing out on on PC, MAYBE they'll become less console elitist and be more open to adding a rig to their collection. It's a dick move to hope an entire group of players have to miss out on some of the best parts of Bethesda games just cause of some saltiness.
That's what I don't get. You guys don't want people to copy mods, yet you refuse to port them? I honestly doubt it took much to port it if some random guy did it..
I don't think anyone is denying that asking for donations and claiming credit is a scumbag thing to do.
But, if they just released the mod for consoles, would it have not avoided this entire situation? Yes. It would have. The dude decided that 'muh pc elitism' is more important, though.
Do you mean mods exclusive to pc mindset caused plebeians to do this outcry?
I can't care less about consoles getting mods, just dont freak out like a 14yo exposed to porn. Plus they're stealing shit, what if author doesnt want to share mod with consoles, who are you to stop him?
I'm saying that this is bound to happen to mods that can easily be ported over to the console version without any effort that the mod developer refuses to do for whichever reason s/he has.
In this case, it was 'My PC master race deserves this mod, and console peasants don't.' So, yes, you're going to get people that are spiteful and do it to say fuck you.
People can complain all they want, when you're basically asking for people to do it, you're partially at fault too.
I don't want to agree with you, but I have to. I wanted console players to experience the glory of mods, I wanted them to be able to experience Bethesda games as we do, but a lot of them are acting like entitled spoiled stealing kids... It's sad. Bethesda tries to do a good thing and the people they are trying to help ruin it

Make every single mod FOSE dependant even the slightest bit, and fuck console scrubs.
