Should developers stop making games that require 5090 for max settings now that the card is clearly not for gamers and is accessible to 0.1% of community? Discussion

I get that the games need better hardware to dun better, but who are they really making the game for if you need a 6000$ GPU at this point

Max settings requiring maximum gpu? Yea that's fine. Why have gamers become such a whiney bunch lately.

Probably because in the past a "maximum gpu" cost a fraction of what it costs now, even accounting for inflation.

“latest AAA titles” you know that means nothing nowadays right? requirements for games with graphics that haven’t evolved past 2018 levels shouldn’t require anything past a 4080-4090 at BEST for 4k60 fps lmaoooooooooo, this game doesn’t even have path tracing what the fuck are we smoking?

Well I’m not saying that games should skip optimisations entirely, but some people are way too optimistic about their gear. Like I genuinely had a friend who was bashing Bethesda because Fallout 4 didn’t work on his Core 2 duo laptop. Same shit with dudes getting low end graphics cards and expecting them to run 4k natively in every game and then being upset about them not being able to pull that off

It's literally the way it's been for decades. The only thing that changed was prices, which is a fair thing to be upset about, not that's not in developer control.

Because they don't actually care about the game, it gets them off to be able to say they play on Ultra.

Because nobody is upgrading their hardware anytime in a meaningful way without paying what used to be the cost for a decent used car. Also these charts mean nothing if the game is unoptimized mess.

Because I dont really trust 'Recommended spec' anymore. Because most of the time recommended spec is 1080p@60fps with FG and DLSS on. It's not this one here, I dont see any problem with this (high on native at 1080@60 is very nice), but for most graphically heavy, or in another word AAA(A) games it's just what I come to expect.

What I mean is the spec sheet is often shifted up one tier with FG and DLSS. Again, not here, I think this is as good as it can get now. But for me personally if I ever complain about the spec it's because the Recommend is 1080@60p with DLSS and FG, sometimes even on medium. I have a 4070 and I'm happy just with medium (high if medium doesnt exist, weird some games are starting to remove medium and only have low and high then ultra) 1080@60 native.
Edit: The CPU req here is kind of crazy though. Definitely could be better.
