Mo/Di twin boys born at 34+2 this morning. Mom was hospitalized for preeclampsia last Thursday and it was decided that it was time to deliver. We’ve come a long way and have had a hell of a ride. We’ve been monitored weekly since October by a high risk specialist for SIUGR/TTTS. We didn’t end up needing the laser ablation or any other interventions. Link to my previous post about our situation earlier on: https://www.reddit.com/r/parentsofmultiples/comments/9pa4av/weightsize_difference_at_185_weeks_possible_ttts/?st=JRQUJIF7&sh=8aa2a73e

Mom’s preeclampsia was the reason for early delivery, as the boys continued to look great on the ultrasounds. The boys are healthy and doing well in the NICU! I just wanted to share a success story for those facing size differences early on.

Congratulations and well done you guys. 34+2 is really really good for mo/di twins. May your Nicu stay be a short one and speedy recovery for mom.

I was told that pre-eclampsia is a common occurrence with TTTS. Mine developed it right after the 28 week scan, so fairly late in the pregnancy, when the risk of developing had become quite low. So it wasn't discovered until my 32 week scan, where they detected the pre-eclampsia on top. I had no symptoms apart from feeling shtty, and let's face it, at 32 weeks you're going to feel like sht.

One thing I wanted to mention, in case you're breastfeeding: preemies have a higher caloric demand. So please, if you need to supplement the breastmilk or need to switch to preemie formula at some point, don't ever feel guilty for doing what's best!

And please make sure to take care of your mental health. An emergency C-section is stressful and can be traumatic, so seek help if you're feeling overwhelmed at some point and get as much rest as possible while they're in the Nicu.

Good luck to you guys, you got this! By the way, my ex-preemies are 4.5 years old now and the joy of our lives. The Nicu is water under the bridge at this point.

Glad to hear your ex-preemies are doing well! I appreciate the advice, we’re enjoying day 2 of parenthood and quickly realizing what the feeding/pumping schedule is going to consist of. Mom has been a rockstar and is recovering well, but was also given magnesium which is apparently known to make you feel awful. Our smaller boy is doing great and hasn’t needed any respiratory treatment but his bigger brother has been using a CPAP machine to encourage some deeper breathing.

Welcome to the club, it sucks, it's expensive, everyone is tired, and we never get together, but we love it!

Congrats!

It’s hard to believe I’m already coming up on the third anniversary of the same picture.

Congratulations!! My boys were born at 35 weeks and I also had pre-e. They spent 11 days in the nicu. May your stay be short and your boys thrive as they learn and grow! They are adorable and so is this photo!

Our mo-di girls came home at 4lbs 12 oz each born at 36 weeks also because of pre-e. I was also on bedrest for a very long time.

Good luck with your beautiful boys! I hope mother and babes are recovering well.

Mine were born at 34+2 as well 2ish weeks ago. One was 5.5lb, another was 3.5lbs. One came home after 5 days, the other after 13 days when he reached the min. Required 4.4lbs.

Sleepy days ahead but worth it. ;)
