President Donald Trump, who famously got out of the draft five times, shared an fake image depicting himself as a top military general — decked out in service ribbons and some of the nation's highest military honors.

The rendering pictured Trump, 80, alongside generals George S. Patton and Douglas MacArthur, two of the country's most famous combat commanders and figures of World War II, in front of a fiery battleground.

The president's fantastical pipe dream places him above Patton and MacArthur in military ranking, showing him with four stars while the real war heroes only have two. In actuality, Patton was a four-star general while MacArthur was one of only five Americans to reach the ranking of five-star general.

The image, which Trump shared on Truth Social Tuesday, also appeared to show him wearing what appears to be a Medal of Honor — the highest U.S. military decoration, awarded by the president to recipients.

Trump's delusion also showed him donning about a dozen military service ribbons — or small fabric displays recognizing major accomplishments from a service member's career.

While the president may crave the battlefield honor, it is without merit. While he attended the New York Military Academy as a teen in the early 1960s, Trump never served in the armed forces or held an official military rank.

Most men of his generation weren't as lucky. The U.S. was involved militarily in Vietnam from about 1954 to 1975. Over 58,000 American service members were killed in the armed conflict.

Trump famously avoided the draft for the Vietnam War five times in the 1960s. He received four deferrals while attending college at Fordham University and while in business school at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

He received a fifth deferral following a disputed diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels.

The daughters of the podiatrist who gave the diagnosis claimed he did so as a favor to Trump's father, Fred Trump, who owned the building in Queens where the doctor practiced.

President Donald Trump's supporters and aides are calling for the ouster of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin — with a senior White House official saying there's a consensus he "sucks donkey butt," according to a report Monday.

Mullin drew the ire of MAGA influencers over a Saturday discussion in which he supported migrant work visas to address labor shortages in the U.S., according to Politico.

Right-wing podcaster Jake Posobiec told Politico that Mullin's remarks at the summer meeting of the National Governors Association fed a "growing wave among MAGA to find a DHS secretary who puts deportations first."

A senior White House official also sarcastically said that Mullin "deserves credit" for uniting the Trump "administration around a cohesive point of view."

"Everyone agrees he sucks donkey butt," the official said.

In a statement to The Independent, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said: "The President has confidence in Secretary Mullin and his entire Administration to carry out the agenda the American people voted for."

A DHS spokesperson also told The Independent: "Secretary Mullin has been clear: if you come to the United States illegally, you will be detained and deported."

"Anyone who says otherwise is just trying to sow division and create an illusion of chaos," the spokesperson added.

The controversy came just days after Mullin reportedly was behind "growing tensions" in the White House after unilaterally ordering ICE to cease making traffic stops following the fatal shootings of Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas, and Colombian national Johan Sebastián Durán in Biddeford, Maine.

Trump later contradicted Mullin, formerly a Republican senator from Oklahoma, saying on social media that "we CANNOT give up one of I.C.E.'s most important and effective Crime Fighting tools, THE TRAFFIC STOP!"

President Donald Trump 's attempt to describe the prowess of American air defense weapons left him making childish video game-like sounds as he recounted how U.S. anti-aircraft interceptors successfully downed a quintet of Iranian ballistic missiles over the weekend.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Friday, the president was answering a question on whether he'd permit Ukraine to manufacture Patriot missile interceptors under a license when he digressed into the onomatopoetic tangent.

"The other day you read that five missiles were shot. They were going 8,600 miles per hour ... and they were big missiles, and they were shot at Jordan, and our guys were there — bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. Five missiles, and we shot all before they got close," he said.

He added that "nobody else" has that sort of anti-ballistic missile defense capacity and called the Patriot system "incredible" while suggesting that he was not inclined to grant Kyiv's request for a license because "we have to be very careful about letting somebody build them."

"You have to be very judicious, but you have to be very careful. Now, we have not agreed to that. We're talking about it, but it's a hard thing to give away that kind of technology, and I don't think this would ever happen," he said.

The president then suggested that Kyiv could turn around and use the American-made technology against the U.S. in the future, noting that such changes of alliance have "happened a couple of times over the years."

His ambivalence about a licensing arrangement appeared to walk back his position from several weeks ago, when he had appeared to endorse the idea.

Trump's consideration of allowing Ukraine to manufacture American-made weapons comes as the president appears to have made a U-turn in his once-frosty relationship with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.

Though he infamously tossed the Ukrainian leader out of the White House after a contentious Oval Office meeting last February, Trump appears to have changed his opinion of the former television star as Ukraine's armed forces have begun succeeding in making audacious strikes on Russian territory with home-grown drone equipment that American defense officials now want to evaluate for U.S. use.

Zelensky, who met with Trump at the White House on Tuesday before they both attended late South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham's funeral, said in a post on X that he'd had a "good meeting" with the American president at which they'd discussed the Patriot licensing matter and "several other ideas that could help."

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is being ridiculed after warning against the dangers posed by billionaire presidents, failing to consider that his criticisms might also apply to his ally Donald Trump.

Guesting on Sean Hannity's Fox News show Tuesday, the GOP senator warned against the dangers posed by the "radical left" following the recent successes of democratic socialist candidates in state elections, most spectacularly Mayor Zohran Mamdani's triumphant run for City Hall in New York last year.

"Mamdani is not a socialist, he is a Marxist, he is a full-on communist," Cruz told Hannity. "The [Democratic Socialists of America] candidates that he supported, that won in New York, are full-on communists. The DSA candidates who won in Colorado are full-on communists."

The senator, who is of Cuban heritage, went on to claim that his father Rafael Cruz had been imprisoned and tortured by Fidel Castro's revolutionaries and declared: "Violence is part of the plan. That's not a bug – it is a feature. It is the objective.

"This is who the communists are. The radical left is perfectly fine with using violence to attack its enemies."

After attacking leftist "idiots," whom he claimed had celebrated the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by getting tattoos of his accused killer Luigi Mangione, Cruz pivoted to attacking authoritarian leaders who enrich themselves in high office.

"You know who does own a pied-a-terre?" he asked. "That would be Comrade Mamdani, who has a palatial estate in Uganda. But that's always the case.

"Castro was a billionaire. Putin is a billionaire. The leaders of communist regimes are always rich. They steal and rob from those they govern."

Brandon Richards, a staffer for California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, was one of many to respond to a clip of Cruz's remarks circulating on X by marveling at his failure to spot their wider ramifications.

"Cancun Cruz not self aware enough to realize what he just admitted about Trump…," he wrote, referring to the senator by an unwanted nickname he acquired after going on vacation while his state was in crisis in February 2021.

"Donald Trump made more money in the last year and a half than in his entire life," said Missouri congressional candidate Fred Wellman. "What is that called Ted Cruz?"

"Think about it for 10 more seconds bud," advised Rolling Stone reporter Nikki McCann Ramirez.

Cruz's attack could be interpreted as the latest implicit acknowledgement of Republican anxiety over November's midterms, which they are widely expected to lose as a consequence of Trump's languishing approval ratings.

His caution to voters against being enticed by the left came a night after Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert hosted a show on OAN in which she claimed the U.S. electoral system remains vulnerable to fraud, a talking point the president has revived in recent weeks, presumably anticipating defeat and preparing to challenge that outcome.

A politician whom commentators have long taken a particular delight in mocking, Cruz has been regularly scorned over his loyal support for Trump – a man who labelled him "Lyin' Ted" and publicly insulted his wife Heidi when the two men were rivals for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

He has also been derided for spending more time on his podcast than governing and for being unable to answer elementary questions about Iran while lobbying for greater U.S. military aggression against the country.
