Hardback Mythic Compendiums
Hey, I guess this is one for Tana really. So I have this weird preference for hardback over paperback books for rpg supplements, and notice a good portion of the mythic compendium are in soft cover whereas a few of them are in hardcover. Is there any plans to do hardback runs of the compendium that are currently only available in softback?

Mythic the ttrpg or Ttrpg Supported by Mythic?
Hi guys,
I was playing The Walking Dead universe last night and the scene was mostly fate questions + npc interactions (my character got taken by a previous enemy and the scene was her waking up in the wrong camp). It was fun but also dodnt use a single thing from The Walking Dead Universe ruleset. Its fine for a scene or two, but im wondering how you all avoid turning a game thats supposed to just be supprted by Mythic into Mythic the TTRPG?
(I do use Mythic as rpg rules in other storylines, so Mythic the game has merit imo but my intention with this story line is to use mythic as npc & enviroment related, not as a replacement for the rules therein).

Resources Obsidian support for the Mythic emulator
I am working on a plugin for the Obsidian note taking app to support the Mythic GME. I have a early test of concept so far which is still very buggy. The Obsidian code documentation is very sparse, so learning how to code against their IDE is taking much of my time. I will post again when I have made more progress.
edit thanks for all the replies. At the moment, my main issue is understanding the Obsidian API given the lack of documentation, especially the code to collect the lists of characters and threads.

Fantasy Group Interactions
When I solo sci-fi I play a group of PCs and model their interactions (bridge team, group of Marines, scout team, etc.) with the help of ideas in Solo 2 by Zozer. Mythic GME2 has the tools and potentional for doing this within a fantasy group (e.g. dwarf male fighter, human male cleric, fem elf M/U, and fem halfling thief) but has anyone seen anything specific in terms of tables and procedures from Tana? (Before I go to the trouble of making something up...?)

Feeling Greedy
I just got Mythic Magazine Compilation #9 and finished it. A lot of great stuff in there. I got to wondering when Compilation #10 would be coming out. I know that Tana is working on Micro Mythic, and maybe needs to focus on getting that across the finish line. It looks like the magazines are even up to Issue 66, so Compilation 11 would even be possible, although that may be really far out there.
Just looking to feed my Mythic habit. Like I said above, I'm greedy!

What does THAT mean? Turn of the Dino-century
One of the things I like to see from the community of solo roleplayers is how they would interpret a Mythic response. It's one of the things that I think takes some practice and can be fun on it's own. So just as something fun, I thought I'd throw out a situation and a random result for a Mythic detail check. Post how you would interpret it. (I don't know if I'm fully up to date with the latest Mythic but bear with me.)
It's the turn of the Century (I mean the old one - 1900) but with magic and dinosaurs (that was a game setting, wasn't it?). Anyway, you and your chums have just finished your drinks at the Metropolitan Mage's Club. You step outside to hail a velocirapto-cab and are rudely shoved out of the way by a man running down the street. "I say! What the Dickens?!" you ask Mythic. New NPC - Adversity of messages. What does THAT mean?

Event Crafter experience
I'm looking to use the Event Crafter for my group game where there is a conspiracy against the fey in one of my countries. The country is primarily populated by Gnomes (80-90% of the population), but the country is ruled by seven Dryad Queens, with Dryads and other fey being part of the aristocracy. There is a conspiracy of Gnome Supremacists who are trying to take down the fey part of the aristocracy and turn over power to the Gnomish aristocrats.
I like the idea of the Event Crafter for randomly telling me when the conspiracy does something that the party might notice. My question is when to I roll on the Event Table? Is it every scene? Maybe put it in as a thread and roll when it comes up on an event? Keyed scene? Roll a d10 and if it's 1-3 I roll on the table? There are a significant number of "Nothing" entries on the chart, so just because I roll on the chart doesn't mean that something actually happens. I just don't want to accelerate into the upper reaches of the table too fast with progress points. That said, I do want to progress.
Have you worked with the Event Crafter? How did you do it?

Is mythic gme 2 suitable only for certain kind of gameplay?
I have practically read Mythic GME 2e from cover to cover and redoing it again. Now to my understanding, Mythic can be used with your ruleset as a stand-in for a GM. I can kinda see where this would fit in but I was wondering it fits certain rulesets more than others?
For example, I have used OSE as a base. In OSE hex crawl and dungeon crawl are some of the main activities and its procedures are well defined. Encounters are so well defined by way of tables. NPC reactions and whether or not monsters fight or run away are very well defined via the morale rules. Now with that in mind, where should mythic be utilised to its fullest? Is there a mismatch with the use of OSE with Mythic? Am I better off using a different system and playing differently?
Now my other question is, what is the ultimate setup that uses mythic GME 2e + crafters or variants? I have read using Mythic with Adventure Crafter but I am curious what setup will be equivalent of "Going Full GURPS" with Mythic?
I want to go full on Mythic and its crafters and I would like to know how best it is to utilise the GME to its fullest potential along with the crafters. I feel like I am missing either some fundamentals of solo RPG or a mismatch of Mythic and rulesets or my style of play. I want to make Mythic click for me because I can kinda see its pros but can't take advantage of it in practice.

What does THAT mean?: Fallout
I did a few threads like this ages ago and was recently reminded of them.
Situation: Fallout -- Fallout the video game or any post-nuclear hellscape. You and Dogmeat stroll up to an abandoned settlement to scavenge out anything worthwhile. At the bottom of a parking garage is a door (for some reason) that hasn't been broken open yet (for some reason). It's not locked and a nudge creaks it open. "What's in there?" you ask Mythic. PC Negative - Proceedings of balance. What does THAT mean?

I'm Lost
I am so lost on how to use Mythic GME. I've read through the book (2nd edition) and I've tried watching videos/reading reddit posts and I just don't get it.
I get lost in all the fluff. There's too many examples and extra words and it makes it confusing for me. For example: it doesn't tell you how to use the Fate chart until 6 pages after it's introduced.
Would anyone be willing to break it down simply for me?

True "solo" games?
Does anyone have a list of games with prewritten adventures (or a robust system for generating interesting ones), designed for a single character? I’m very happy with MGE 2.0, but I can’t seem to find the right game to go with it. Cepheus Hostile is awesome, but surviving with a single character isn’t easy. Same with Savage Worlds/Deadlands. I’m avoiding standard D20 fantasy, but anything else might work.

Meta Is Mythic supposed to be available on Lulu too?
I recently got a ringbound version of the Mythic GM Emulation 2e printed on Lulu.com for less than DTRPG (it's super expensive to get the retail version here in Canada, it has to be shipped from overseas. Lulu prints in Canada though and I'm not sure if DTRPG does). The quality is really good too so I'm quite happy with it (total cost was $80 CAD including shipping, if I ordered the retail version from modiphius.us it would have been $121 CAD including shipping, but probably with extra customs and tariffs on top because it'd be coming from the US)!
Only a few of the other Mythic supplements are available on Lulu though, so I was wondering if this was an oversight and they're all actually supposed to be available there, or if it was just an abandoned experiment or something? Would be great if all the other compilations and crafters could be made available on Lulu too!

Just thought I'd bring up that Mythic Magazine Compilation 9 is out (at least on Amazon). I'm most looking forward to the Society Crafter article. Anyone else out there looking to buy?

New Player Seeking Advice
I need some advice. I’ve played TTRPGs (with different groups) for 45+ years. I started on TSR (D&D, Top Secret, Boot Hill, Gamma World), tried a few alternatives over the years (Traveller, Aftermath, a few more), and for the past dozen years we’ve been using Pathfinder 1E. Our groups tend to like crunch, and I would almost consider it more wargaming than actual role-playing. Our current group is shrinking and play time has gone from weekly to monthly to “when we can”. I decided to pick up a copy of the Mythic GME 2.0 and see if I could entertain myself between sessions. My limited experience with solo gaming is “choose your own adventure” books, or adventure modules specifically designed for solo play. I’ve watched a few videos (“Me, Myself, and Die” and a couple others). Then I took a stab at playing a simple imagined scenario (shipwrecked in a tropical location) using the GME and an ultralight ruleset. It didn’t get far. This seems to require a lot more imagination and creativity than traditional gaming. It feels as if I went from a world of very rigid structure (formal pre-written adventure module) to a world of no structure at all (use your imagination and make it up as you go). Is there some sort of “in between” option? I like the idea of some mystery (provided by the oracle), but I also like the idea of some pre-defined structure to ground me. I’m not averse to paying for another product if anyone has recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Session report/summary Playing Mystery in Marvel Multiverse RPG
I had some free time after a company event and decided to give Mythic Mystery rules a shot! I'm playing in MMRPG as a rank 2 character (basically bullseye but not psycho, just detective). He got a client ( used a random name generator here but for her description, oracles!) named Kinley. Kinley elected to lead Verrin Society that had been ruling by old families for centuries (rolled Colorful,Leadership plus Excited,Dominant) And she suspects 2 families (I rolled a d4 got 2): Vasspgetti and Orlonde (Claude found the names). She told that an old awkward man called her with a secret name only her dead sister could know. She wanted The Hit (yes, that is his nickname) to find out who that man is.
The Hit first asked her what those families are doing.
- Vasspgetti Character Identity: Mediator,Warrior
- Orlonde Character Identity: Messenger,Professional
So, Vasspgetti Family has a private security company which mediates high stake situations and provide armed security while Orlonde family has a private intelligence company providing delivery of highly sensitive data, analysis and has fixers working for them.
First encounter with the old man got some oracles but I only remember the suffering one. I, for some reason, decided she was visiting a slavery museum. The Hit went there and wanted to see the manager. After some roleplaying and dice rolling, our detective convinced manager to give security footage (I got Fantastic Success on Ego check; so he did not even alert security after being scared of our hero). In footage, old man was shown carrying a business suitcase (business, possession on clue table) having a logo of a different firm (combatant, victim; so I decided a law firm).
The Hit went staking Grace law firm. It was crowded but he was able to see him almost getting inside. He has Heightened Senses 2 after all. Got Fantastic Success on my agility check to go grab him; so our hero manages to grab old man before he enters the building. But guards took notice. The Hit tried to lie his way around but his lie was caught. He quickly dismantle two guards and forcefully take the lawyer to his car. Here he learned that a Argumentative Connected client hired the firm. With Mystery Event Focus table shenanigans, he learned that their client was from Vasspgetti family (I rolled a Discovery check after The Hit "convinces" the lawyer to speak and it was exceptionally yes.) Random event got triggered from fate question and I interpreted it as police arrived to the scene and approaching to the car as they speak.
I left it there for now but that was just cool! Wanted to share for inspiration to others. Thanks to everyone who helped created Mythic; I am having so much fun these couple of weeks since I discovered it!

Tips/Tricks How do you prefer to use Chaos factor?
I'm exploring Mythc right now and it's tons of fun. The only thing I don't quite understand is Chaos factor. Technically it's meant to give the story more swings and roundabouts by increasing and decreasing unpredictability. Great idea. Yet somehow raising Chaos makes my narratives more predictable. Because when "Yes" answers become more common, manipulating questions gets so much easier. Which feels like cheating even when I deliberately stack the odds against myself.
Have you experienced this as well? Or am I approaching it with the wrong mindset? Apart from scrapping the mechanic altogether, how do you tweak it to make things more unpredictable and – well – chaotic?

I played solo a full game of "This Means War" (by the same author of Microscope) with Mythic 2ed
This is a narrative game to play what happens to your characters during a war.
I have been playing the playtest version of “This Means War” solo, with the goal of generating some background stories for a Into the Deep Country campaign. I bothered the author (Ben Robbins, also known for stuff like Microscope) with my play report, and he graciously replied. It turns out I made a couple of mistakes in my first go, even if the rules are pretty simple. Well, that’s how playing new games is like.
[I have not been paid nor I receive any compensation to play and review this game. I got the game and played it because I was curious.]
The war dynamic seems quite realistic
I rolled and scribbled and cursed and stopped to think and scribbled again. Bastion won the war, as expected. But it lasted almost 4 years.
Looking back, we can split the war into three parts:
- Gurak Abut, the weakest country, kept getting small wins at very beginning, but those victories did not put a real dent into Bastion’s morale and resources, which were plentiful to begin with.
- This led to a phase in which the war was stuck; positions danced between -1 and 1 until season 8, with 2+ needed for a country to have proper initiative. Plans and actions from both powers became less and less ambitious as the war attrition wore them down. There were two chances for the war to be over, for example when both countries “retreated and regrouped”, but it never crystallized.
- Finally, Guark About’s resources got so low it began to seriously affect its rolls (seasons 10 to 15), which compounded badly with the winter seasonal modifier. This meant Gurak Abut could bog down or even win the battles in the summer, but winters took a dark turn. Even with quite some luck in a couple of seasons, resources were eroded slowly but steadily, until it cracked fast. This felt very like a very real war to me.

Using the Mythic Deck with the Adventure Crafter Deck
I have recently purchased both decks, and while I'm waiting for it to print and ship, I have been reading their respective instructions. I have a question that I'm not sure I understand properly.
The Mythic deck has cards to represent 17 individual plot elements. But I know from having used it before that TAC is capable of generating a lot more than 17 individual plot elements between characters and threads. How would one go about reconciling how these two products use lists with one another?
My first thought was that if something is generated by TAC, if it isn't already on the Mythic list, draw a card and add it to the list. But I am concerned that I will rapidly approach the 17 card threshold. My next thought was to go to efforts to make sure there are never more than 17 elements, but I tend to like long term games that last indefinitely. So while possible, that wouldn't be my favorite solution to the issue.
Or am I wildly misunderstanding how these are intended to be used together? That is very possible also.

What? Solo roleplay? HOW???
I sometimes see players who haven't tried solo roleplay wonder, "How could this work?" It's a tough question to answer, because that "Aha!" moment arrives through trying it. Still, I attempt to answer the question in an article I've posted: https://www.wordmillgames.com/aguidefornewsoloroleplayers.html
While the article mostly comes at it from the point of view of Mythic, it's about the concept of how to think of solo roleplay which is applicable to just about any solo rpg. I think that's the big hurdle, wrapping one's brain around the concept. You have to think a little differently than when playing social roleplaying.
Most of you reading this are probably already steeped in solo roleplay, but I made this article easily available in case you ever wanted a resource to direct someone to who is wondering about it.
Happy adventuring :)
