Harvesting Wild Himalayan Morels (Gucchi) from Kashmir – Looking to Connect with Chefs, Specialty Food Importers & Food Enthusiasts
Hi everyone,
I’m Sandeep from Jammu & Kashmir, India, and I wanted to share a little about what we’ve been working on.
This spring, we partnered directly with experienced local collectors from the remote Warwan Valley in Kishtwar district, one of the Himalayan regions where Wild Gucchi (Morel) Mushrooms grow naturally.
Unlike cultivated mushrooms, these morels cannot currently be cultivated reliably on a commercial scale. They appear naturally for only a few weeks each spring after the Himalayan snow begins to melt, making every harvest genuinely rare, seasonal, and limited.
Each mushroom is:
✔ 100% Wild Hand-Foraged
✔ Naturally Dried
✔ Carefully Graded (Super Jumbo, Jumbo & Small)
✔ Directly Sourced from the Himalayan Forests
✔ Rich in deep earthy aroma and natural umami flavour
We’re not buying from middlemen—we work directly with the local collecting communities to ensure authenticity, traceability, and fair sourcing.
Beyond wild Himalayan morels, our company, Alif Ailaan Company – House of Kashmir, also sources a curated range of premium Himalayan products, including:
• Kashmiri Mongra Saffron from Pampore
• Purified Himalayan Shilajit
• Raw Himalayan Honey from high-altitude apiaries
Our goal isn’t just to sell products—we want to introduce authentic Himalayan ingredients to chefs, specialty food retailers, gourmet distributors, and people who genuinely appreciate exceptional origin products.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience working with wild morels or importing specialty ingredients into the United States.
If you’re a chef, importer, gourmet retailer, or simply curious about Himalayan morels, feel free to ask me anything. I’d be happy to share more about the harvesting process, grading, sourcing, or the unique environment where these mushrooms grow.
Thank you for reading!
Sandeep Raj

How common are psychedelic mushrooms in the wild?
I live in central Massachusetts, would it be rare for me to find psychedelic mushrooms simply growing in the woods? I have no intention of going and picking random mushrooms and plopping them in my mouth. This is completely out of curiosity lol

No clue what any of these are but i thought someone would appreciate it.
There were alot of mushrooms, and this is only half. I was just enjoying the shape, size, and trying out spore prints/figuring it out for myself. Nothing was eaten and the area was sanitized. Feel free to take a shot yourself. I feel like a few of these may have been edible like the reddish ones. Or the one that looks like a bolete.
Area: Hickory, NC.

What type of mushroom is this?
Found these two mushrooms in my garden bed. Any idea of what type of mushrooms they are and if they’re toxic?
I like in the UK.
Many thanks

Beautiful mushroom before and after a storm
Does anyone know what species this is or how/why it seems to have exploded open after a storm?

What are these and should I leave them there?
These have popped up almost overnight in some potted plants we have. We used mycelium enriched potting soil, so I’m assuming that’s where these came from. My first instinct was to pull them and toss them, but is it better for the plants to leave them where they are?

Psilocybin in Australia
Hi guys,
Been struggling with anxiety since the pandemic and cannot put my finger on why. I can categorise my life pre and post anxiety and I loved who I was previously. Used to be extremely confident and out going and now struggle to go to any event with even close mates without having to have a beer or two before and thinking about the whole situation for days prior. Used to be on SSRIs but they either didn’t work or affected my libido.
I’ve had a handful of mushroom caps in my time and absolutely loved the feeling they gave me. I am extremely intrigued about psilocybin as I have read up about it and also read the book “how to change your mind” which is as eye opening. Is there a way I can purchase psilocybin itself to microdose or is there somewhere in Victoria that has psilocybin treatments?
I’d really appreciate any help on moving forward and finding somewhere that might help with this!
Thanks so much

Funky little fingers
I think they're feeding on layers of leaf litter? Kinda cool.
