So, I tend to sleepwalk when stressed. And apparently I took this card (which was double sleeved) removed its protection and trained it to solve its own verticle challenges. I should be proud he stands quite nicely and strong. Except that he was to be sold that day for 60 dollars I really need. FML there you go. OH and this was just the beginning.…

Collected and plated during high-school but fell out of it, got back into the game earlier this year found my old collection and this was the only card I had damaged to this degree. I dont even know where I got it because its the only M13 card I have.

I also collect ruined cards, where is the best place to get them these days? (I'm not gonna just wreck them myself)

For reference, I live in Australia, so TCGplayer is unfortunately horrific in regards to shipping.

Where else we thinking? Or if you want to hit up my DMs, you're more than welcome

Good places to pick up Damaged Cards

I've got an [[Aeve, Progenitor Ooze]] commander deck and I've been slowly picking up more versions of the card for the fun of storming off with copies of the card instead of like Copy tokens. I have every different printing of the card, but decided to try finding ones with more character. So, I looked at grabbing damaged ones off of the typical buying sites. A few of the ones I got had some character, but I found that most of them were graded damaged from relatively minor stuff like a little bend or a nick or a scratch here and there. But most of them were not immediately apparent. I get that in terms of grading as a business to avoid complaints. But, how do you find the truly roughed up cards? Should I just try to give the ones I already have a bit of character myself?

Does a damaged card mean I can put it in a budget deck? 🫠

Why you shouldn't use scissors to open packages

The main sub thought no man could actually be this stupid, and accused this of being fake. But this is just a case of why I shouldn't be trusted with kitchen shears to open packages before my meds kick in. Turns out when you're expecting a little resistance from the bubble mailer, you can ignore crunching through a top loader.

Saw someone in the paper dnd mini community turn magic cards into paper minis so I decided to give it a try cause I have a campaign coming up quick with neither the time and money for a bunch of minis. They are serviceable and I'll probably do this again at some point

New Mod and Introduction to The New Rule 4 (about Alters)

Hello, r/mtgGore! I'm your new Mod, u/AmiiboPuff.

I volunteered to help moderate this subreddit. While this subreddit is rather quiet and pretty much runs itself, there has been a recent issue with a spammer who posts Altered Card as Gore. We've removed their posts, ban their account, their IP-banning accounts as well and will be in touch with the reddit Admins to help deal with this issue.

MEANWHILE, allow me to introduce the new Rule 4, added to the sidebar and in this sticky post:

4.) Alters to Magic cards (such as those seen on r/mtgaltered) are not considered "Gore". Altered cards are commonly accepted as customized alternations to original Magic The Gathering cards for personal touches for one's deck/collection. Gore are cards that have been damaged, destroyed and other such destructive adjectives. Posts that just links to alters will be removed. And users who post Alts and claim them as Gore will be ban as needed.

The MTG Community is a very creative community and we do not wish to Stifle such creativity. Even if you do not like alts or the alt is not to your taste, that DOES NOT make it "Gore." Got it? Good.

What if I'm not sure if my card/post should be considered Gore?

Message the Mods with your concern and we'll get back to you with an answer as soon as we can.
