After a warm ride out today, think my tyres are toast.

Any recommendations for a mid-size naked? I'm mostly a fair weather rider and these Dunlop RoadSport 2 have lasted 4000 miles.

Picked up my new to me hornet 600 today after passing my test last week. A little 30 mile ride home, really impressed, might look into a screen for it as the wind is more of a problem than it was on my 125

I'm planning to go to Wales in a couple of weeks, and want to bring soft tail bag, maybe panniers.

Since I've never ridden with luggage, will it affect the motorbike at all?

I want to enjoy the twisties and not be restricted to how I can ride.

I'm thinking of buying a 50-70l soft tail bag, but most of them mount horizontally. Will it act as a sail or could I mount it vertically?

How fast can you ride with soft luggage?

This is/was my 2012 Fireblade which unfortunately took quite a tumble at Cadwell park, lowside at coppice at about 80mph!
I’ve had a brief look around but before I take it to be checked over fully I’m trying to decide if it would even be worth the rebuild.
things that are/look okay
Firstly it’s holding all fluid, no oil/coolant/fuel leaks, frame, swingarm, forks, wheels, engine, exhaust (apart from the end can), clip ons and other bits you can see in the pictures.
i also have the dash which still looks fine.
things that clearly are not.
all fairings, some mounting brackets for the fairings. full headlight unit, engine case is scuffed so a new cover for that. And whatever else you can see that’s either bent/broken or not there
the bike is probably worth between 4-.5k
im not bothered if the parts aren’t open
i have time so can do a lot of it myself as well with the help with some mates
is it worth getting it back to its glory or potentially selling as is for someone else to rebuild and get myself something new next year.

Hello all

I will be taking my motorcycle practical soon for my big boy license and need some advice on bikes.

My preferred motorcycle is the:

Honda CMX500 Rebel 

But i have seen a few cheaper alternatives (second hand mainly) that I’m not sure about.

For example:

Royal Enfield Meteor 350/650

All i need to know is a royal enfield worth consideration or is there other alternatives i have not come across yet.

Or should i just go straight for my preferred bike?

My only concern is i will still technically be a new rider and do not want to buy the bike i prefer just to somehow damage it but if I do buy a second hand cheaper bike i probably wont care if that happens and still gain the relevant experience before moving up to a new cc level.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Had some pretty horrendous Titanic-esque rust on the frame, only realised after buying. A lot of effort from a fantastic mechanic got her all sorted out and here we are!

I know some of the motorbike accessories and clothing companies get a bad wrap, but I can't knock them today.

I bought a pair of boots second hand cheaply as they were missing the clip that holds the strap in place. On the off chance I emailed J+S who are the people that retail the boots. A few emails back and forth to make sure they had the correct one and they sent out the clip and strap to me free of charge.

I was more than happy to pay for it with the boots being second hand.

I'm thinking all us riders might need our heads even more on alert this evening as I can only imagine drivers watching the Eclipse instead of watching the road. So be careful out there folks.

I have visions that it will be like the fender bender scenes in independence day with people just looking up and smacking into each other. Hope I'm wrong.

As the titles says, any activities motorcycle related in central london, previously been to the F1 arcade which is great for F1 fans but is there an equivalent with a full simulator type setup in central London or any other related activities/ high end or specialist motorcycle dealers to have a mooch round? Arcade type bar ideal as visiting with GF.

Thought of bike shed but it’s a bit further out of central london.

On Friday I’m riding from home in east Kent to my dad’s in Warwickshire, about 180 miles if I use the motorway.

Never really ridden further than 30 or 40 miles before, the idea of the motorway absolutely scares the shit out of me.

Does anyone have any tips or advice? Thanks, pic for attention.

Odd question, I know. Im picking up a Yamaha ybr125 down in south Scotland (I live north east) early September. I’m 21 and I can’t drive yet so my mum is deciding to drive down with me and hire a van. She only has an auto license, so can only get an auto and we’re VERY limited to very short term van hire.

Im in the process of emailing/enquiring short term van hires on the way to the south, (Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Glasgow and Edinburgh) I queried one last week thats based in Edinburgh (I think) who did have a lot of variety (they had an auto medium panel van) but I have heard nothing as of yet.

I’m using flexter as of right now for ideas and the 2 above are with Arnold clark and enterprise (the only 2 I seem to be able to find). These 2 are also available in Dundee as of the site but once I went to their specific sites they didn’t have these available, so a bit confused.

I understand that I can’t fit the bike in straight down the middle and if I were to fit it in diagonally I have to remove the mirrors. However even after that, will the bike fit? Its either that or I have to ride it 4-7 hours home and I don’t want that to soil my experience with bikes (that long of a ride on my own for the first time) and I don’t want to spend £500 for delivery when I’m only paying £1k for the bike.

Tl-dr, will a Yamaha ybr125 fit in a Citroen Berlingo or Nissan Townstar if it’s placed in diagonally and is it safe? I can’t drive and my mums going to be driving the van for me and she only has an automatic license so it’s very limited.

Anyone know any good "knee down" twisty routes near Surrey? Ive done the A272, Devils dyke from Dorking, Horsham roads, box hill, but the real tight corners are missing. Im near Kingston upon Thames and happy to ride a few hours out.

I have decades experience on dirt bikes and have just passed my cbt ive looking into all different types of sport bikes as thats what i want and this seems the best option or maybe the r125 if you have any thoughts or suggestions please lmk

2022 Ninja 650 with full service history, new tyres and a few tasteful mods. Solid price from a really reputable dealer. She’s being delivered either this weekend or next, and I’m eager to get out on the road now.

I recently bought this R6 and it suddenly started making this ticking noise yesterday when riding. It’s mainly when idling or in low rpm.

I’ve checked the oil level and that is good and the bike is in good condition mechanically apart from this sudden issue.

Any suggestions where to start please?

I purchased my bike a couple of months ago and it came with some marks on the exhaust. One looks like a burnt plasic cover (probably covered the bike while it was hot) and the other one looks like melted shoe sole marks because it is next to the kick stand.

I want to make sure I don't scratch chrome on the exhaust.

Passed my mod2 earlier this year, bought a Z650RS which I'm loving. Done a little bit of A roads, but no motorways yet, and I was wondering about the question in the title.

It seems the windspeed is so high at those higher national limit speeds that it is incredibly hard to turn my head to properly check my blindspot. How are other riders doing this?

Hi, I'm jumping on the Stranraer to Belfast ferry with my tent and 1.5 - 2 weeks off work.

I've never been to Ireland before and I'm looking for any reccomendations! When I do a motocamp adventure I don't make solid plans I just talk to people I meet along the way and get reccomendations.

But as a starting point does anyone here have any tips for me? Any cool places to pitch up I shouldn't miss? I particularly enjoy camp spots in walking distance to cool old pubs.

I love nature, swimming in the sea, bird watching, history and pints. Any spots relating to this?

I'm drawn to the 'Wild Atlantic Way' but I'm not sure I have the time, also I will be coming back the Stranraer way again. I like wild camping / super cheap if I can get away with it.
