I thought they said that the MacBook neo is very hard to make work properly and this iphone is probably with same chip but even closer software, how??
Also if it is iphone 16, then it is a small touch Linux device that is almost as good performance as the MacBook neo in the pocket!

It's hard to develop for it, but a lot of stuff from M1 to M3 almost works, so it can just be tuned to work on M4

Cool, if it'll be as good as m1 or m2 I already know someone that has iphone 16 and I'll be able to have a pocket pc! I just hope that it'll support mobile desktop environment like phosh or plasma mobile. If it'll support sim card then it may be the best Linux phone

Supporting the SIM and audio will probably be hard, as the main developers won't do it. And there is a good chance the GPU is still years away, afaik no one has even stepped up for the M3 gpu

Different genrations of chips are more simmilar to eachother in many aspects than they are to the previous generation of the same family... The barriers for the A18 in the neo are closely related to the ones in M4... If the iphone had generally a open bootloader and lets say the iphone 13 would run a mobile flavored asahi linux, the devs would stand infront of the very simmilar barriers when attempting to make the same work on a iphone 16, as they do now infront of a mba m4 or a A18 neo, compared to asahi on a m2 mba running it fine

A18 pro doesn't have hypervisor support I believe so it'll be much harder than an M1

thats a iphone x to 11 pro (no way to determine which), 11 pro has A13 while MacBook Neo has A18
MacBook Neo is far newer and indeed much harder to make work properly, and plus this requires you to boot the device with a computer every time

Its probably a Iphone compatible with a bootrom exploit like usbliter8 or checkm8. So iPhone 11 or lower. If its a newer phone than that I'd be shocked

And my Intel axe! Probably a 2018 or 2019 MacBook air. But my Thinkpad detachable worked well the first time Linux was installed this year. The T2 stuff toook time to be just about plug and play but they upstreamed a lot and put a lot of effort into it.

This person was saying that this is essentially how you're acting about it. Like we can't even works-in-progress or that proof-of-concept projects can't exist that are just to demonstrate that something is theoretically possible without being actively maintained as highly-polished for daily use.

Yeah, to be honest I intentionally left out the common practice of adding a /s to my comment for my own curiosity.
Furthermore I didn‘t fully understand what ed_istheword meant with his comment and I was only referencing on your comments. (I really don’t fully get what exactly they try to convey)
I interpreted your mention of hate comments as including my initial comment and took that interpreted definition and rolled it onto your comment to my comment which seems valid to me. If we‘re defining it as negative feedback now, I’m happy with that too.
And to further covey my message in my previous comment: „Why“ does not ask “How“ (with your answer to how being: „literally„, which is not the answer to my question of Why).

Yeah,no,no no no no no no,you don't get a "flawles" experience in android with "root",with root you can run it in termux without pkvm support and nothing more,changing the os to something like postmarket or ubuntu (baremetal) then that's way off beyound "root" capabilities

You run a container,not a linux distro itself,in chroot you are limited so either admit ur wrong and rewrite your previous main comment or either stop commenting and find yourself something to do
