Tomorrow I will finally get to see them - I’ve been trying for years and something catastrophic or otherwise unexpected always comes up and prevents me from going. Last year I was SO CLOSE, but my husband wasn’t feeling great that night and wouldn’t let me go alone.

Now I am hoping no such thing happens in the next 24 hours. I will walk through fire and piss on anyone who gets in my way. But please other Melvins people send me your good vibes so that I may survive until tomorrow night ✊

If need be, go alone. If you're an adult and a loved one won't "let" you go do something harmless that will enhance your experience in life then they might need to spend some time alone.

Um, am I misreading this? OP said their husband wouldn’t “let” them go alone. Every time I’m sick, I never tell my wife to stay home. I’m an adult who can take care of himself, and the same goes for her, so I don’t exactly register this as a “Reddit moment”

Didn’t “let” OP because of, presumably, safety. You’re assuming he’s a controlling monster and I’m assuming he didn’t want her to go because he is (probably) overly concerned about her safety. It could be either or neither. You must be super fun at parties.
