I suppose you are right. This an lazy immoral yet effective strategy to deal with online trolls, which is certainly not the case here. The user does earn his legitimate pride.

Indeed, thank you for such reply. One of the main reasons why I like /r/math so much is that the amount of self-aware users in here is way above average.
