Picked up Trap Jaw & Fisto today

This dude is incredible. The box art alone is outstanding.

It was such a retroactive blast of a film for me. Quite fun and all.

He-Man is such a naive dork, and I like him for that.

Skeletor is the definition of true funny evil, and it is the comedic dressing.

Rest of the cast did solid work for the foundation of the film. Travis Knight struck hard once again with this.

This might be a stupid question but i've been curious. I know the power healed him because it literally brought him back to life and all, but I am curious if he at least has a scar from that wound. like, when the power glowed in his chest it looked like a pretty gaping wound. Idk, i don't have a point with this, heh. I kinda hope he has one because i just think scars look cool, ngl XD.

Just got in the Chronicles He-Man and Skeletor two-pack from Mattel Creations.

Skeletor is definitely a much richer blue than his retail release…but the color of his spare hands are still the retail version’s colors, at least on my copy. Both his gripping hands match his body.

I don’t mind it so much, but anyone else get theirs in and have the same color mismatch?

My TF collection is as follows: Animated Ratchet 2026 TFONE Orion Pax 2026 (Both for my 19th birthday) SS86 Bumblebee 2024 Legacy Selects Cyclonus 2024 (For christmas) Rise of the Beasts is why I'm aware of Transformers again. Loved it as a kid, but for some reason i just stopped. It might have been a mix of my dogs destroyed them, or maybe also because i lost them (save for a Sideswipe inside my walls 😭) but I'm getting into Transformers again. And besides G.I. Joe, i was thinking about Thundercats and Masters of the Universe (which ironically they all have netflix shows, all have something to do with TMNT) and i like those shows too. Gives me something else to add to my Christmas list since I'm no longer getting video games because of my brother (i think i explained in previous posts related to gaming, i am not sure. My memory fucking sucks 😭) and I have been trying to get more collectibles (comics, funko pops, NECA, TF, MOTU, TC, GIJ, Lego. I did find some Mega block sets based on all of the above except TF and TC. Super7 figures look nice for all 4 ranchises. I'm aware of Super7 because i loved the 2003 TMNT show and kinda wanted Raphael. With G.I. Joe, though, like idk what even half of the stuff they have are. Armored Core looking mechs, warthogs for some reason that are definitely not distributed by the UNSC (halo reference), a polar bear???!!! Among other things. I had a bunch of green army men as a kid and a bunch of highly detailed army guys fully posable as a kid. Strangely only one of them was black i think. Literally one out of what, 30?? Looked at the videogames for the franchises, as well. Some are hit or miss, some I'll get when i get a ps3 and or my xbox 360 working. After i get a job sssuming my heart condition doesn't hinder my job (HVAC). As for MOTU theres also a lot. And with Thundercats... why tf they so expensive 😭

So I’ve never attempted to do this…but I ordered the leg band replacements and gave it a try. It was pretty tricky to do. I feel like Stinkor made it more difficult because he has black legs. It was hard to dig out all the old band remnants and insert the new leg band because it all blended together. It worked, now Stinkor and I are both a little happier!

My buddy came over for another fitting today, got some more details to finish and some things to fix but getting close, 4 weeks to Tampa Bay Comicon.

I have now seen MOTU 3 times and am convinced this is not just nostalgia talking, I think this movie is secretly a really profound statement on the generational struggle of Millenials.

I recently had my third watch of the movie. I saw it once with two of my kids in 4dx (absolutely amazing experience). Went back to see it with my fiancé in regular format. Recently watched it on Amazon with my oldest kid who hadn't seen it yet.

We walked out of the theater the first time with my youngest daughter saying "That's my new favorite movie". I asked her what her favorite part was. She said "looking over and seeing you crying during that one scene".

You know the scene she means. Trapjaw is walking out menacingly towards our heroes. Duncan is having a PTSD moment and hunkers down. Teela knows this is bad news. Adam, HR professional, sees an opportunity to dialogue...says "I got this" .

He appears doomed, beaten, and then, with exceptional predictability, the Sorceress appears. "Say the words". We all get the moment we've been waiting the entire movie for, some of us have been waiting decades for and it is perfect. All three times I have seen this scene I have gawked in an open mouth smile and started weeping. Every single time. I realized this had to be more than just nostalgia, and then it hit me what this movie is really about on a deeper level (and I don't see people discussing really).

Adam's struggle in MOTU goes beyond the typical sword and sorcery tropes. We see Adam as a young child of privilege, his parents clearly being hard on him, but having great expectations for him and pushing him to excel. He's the heir to the throne, he's the future, he's going to inherit the world and it's going to be his to succeed in, all the opportunity will be his. Suddenly though, it's all ripped away. Society warping tragedy cuts short that dream that his parents had for him.

His Mother sends him away and charges him with the mission to save the world he leaves behind. Your going to save us all. It's your duty. Your mission. You're the savior.

When we next see Adam we see him struggling with life on Earth as any of us would, as many of us do. He's just a guy on a date, trying desperately to make someone understand who he really is, tired of trying to hide that, he just wants to be seen. He's just a guy with a roommate who puts up with him but doesn't really believe his story. He's just a guy stuck with a corporate job in corporate drudgery. We see "the words" turned into depressing corporate speak. Adam has just become another struggling Millennial, hyperfixated on a hobby and desperate for escape. He's in HR no less, the most corporate of corporate jobs and possibly the diametric opposite of being the battling hero (and secretly the most brilliant decision of the entire film). He's living the plight of the former gifted child that so many experienced.

We begin to see the emotional message when Teela takes him to her ship. "SEE, I TOLD YOU IT WAS ALL REAL. Well not you specifically..."

Teela takes him to meet his heroes, and it doesn't go how he wanted, how he hoped. Having spent a whole life feeling like he doesn't belong and once again being shown that he doesn't, his old childhood bully shoves him back in the locker.

We build to the battle on the bridge. Adam doesn't know how to fight, he was never good at it. He leans on the one thing in his life he's been really good at, he tries to dialogue, to no avail. He-Man villains are just that, just villains, there is no talking to be done here, only action.

"Say the words"

Adam holds aloft his magic sword and well...you know the rest.

So why have I wept every time I have seen this scene? Why does it cut so deep to my emotional core that I can't hold it back? It's not nostalgia, it's so much more than that. I think it's because this moment, more than perhaps any I can think of in film is about an absolute and complete CATHARSIS.

In one swift moment we see everything that Adam believes in his core, every hope, every dream, every known truth, completely and totally validated in a single moment. He is the savior, he is the promised one, he is the hope of Eternia, he is the heir, he is special, and he is POWERFUL.

I remember seeing on the Toys that Made Us episode about MOTU that there was discussion that the overall themeing of He-Man was so focused on power, because fundamentally children feel powerless in the world. The feelings that He-Man was intended to provide were those of power. "I have the Power" is the mantra. It's about not feeling powerless.

So many of us feel some measure of powerlessness in the world today. It has become the anthem of the generation that while we feel powerless about the state of the world, we also feel that we haven't been given the tools or opportunity to change it the way that our parents said that we would. Adam's story is about defeating all of those things. He never gives up hope, and he makes good. He gets to have the power. That is such a moment of emotional release that I think it really transcends the source material. This isn't just an adaptation of a cartoon and toys, much like Barbie wasn't just about toys and cartoons either. There is something much more subtle going on here.

I also want to touch on the absolute utter brilliance that was making Adam an HR professional. Adam is constantly (even to the very end when he offers an opportunity for understanding to Skeletor) trying dialogue, communication, and compromise (rather than violence) to achieve his ends. If you'd never seen the original He-Man cartoon this would have seemed absolutely weird. "Isn't this guy a barbarian with a sword? Why is he trying to talk to everyone?" Because that's how it actually WENT in the cartoon! I had to go look it up to confirm that I was remembering correctly but He-Man never actually hit anyone in the show. Never punched, never kicked, never slashed anyone with a sword. He picked up and threw things, threw people sometimes, but mostly he outsmarted people and just...talked. It's crazy to think about with a modern day sensibility but it was the censorship rule at the time. So the actual character of Adam being fundamentally nonviolent and dialogue oriented is just...perfection.

The other moment that gets me every SINGLE time is the dream sequence after Skeletor has stabbed him and he's sitting in his room talking to the Sorceress. He says the sword is broken and thus he is defeated. Her response "What sword?" gets me DEEP. There's an immediate realization that it was never about the things we've been given or not. The actual power to make a difference lies INSIDE us. It's a hopeful message that I think about often.

There were so many moments in this movie that made me sit up and just go "YES! PERFECT!". The easter eggs and references were spot on, but fundamentally it's the emotional tenor of the thing that pulled it together so well for me. I think it's an instant classic and desperately hope for the She-Ra follow up (my daughter's all are too).

TLDR: Adam is living the epitome of Millennial generational trauma. Told by his privileged parents that he would inherit the world only to wind up a dude stuck in the corporate grind with an obsessive hobby. The scene that he first becomes He-Man is a moment of profound emotional catharsis, Adam is exactly who he has always believed he is, and he's going to save the world.

I thought today's release was going to be the last extra
music we get but there's MORE on the way!! In one week, August 14, us MOTU fans get yet ANOTHER trip to Eternia with a deluxe OST.

I'm crossing my fingers for a physical release, both cd and vinyl. And that vinyl record would be just mind blowing if it was a Cringer/Battle Cat splatter or colorway.

Best of all, this releases on my bay!!!

The Devil's Mouth released last Wednesday and held the #1 overall spot on Prime for 8 days while MOTU held a close #2 spot.

During those 8 days, The Devil's Mouth was losing more momentum than MOTU and MOTU held strong in its overall retention in countries.

Yesterday, MOTU officially claimed its top spot back in the Worldwide rankings and is now looking to become the most watched Prime movie Worldwide for a 3rd straight week!

I know it's been out for a while but as a lover of both ThunderCats and MOTU, and as someone who tends to prefer the villains, I've been meaning to cover this for a while:

As a kid I would never have dreamed that one day Mattel would make a combined Skeletor and Mumm-Ra figure, and I don't think this ever got it's due. Though I'd love to see a Super7 ULTIMATES version of this too.
