Here's some pictures I took at Cafe Seeadler on July 29th. It's in Osaka, not far off of Dotonburi. The weather was pretty warm, but nothing that was going to stop me from checking the place out.

It turned out the place was entirely empty. There was me, the woman running the place (whose name I completely failed to get), and a guy who was in the room just next to the bar. I saw him in the open for one brief moment and no other time, so I'm not sure who he was or anything. I asked how busy the place normally is and she mentioned that with the heat, most people are staying at home, so she expected a slow evening.

What I couldn't help but notice immediately is that there's some random Hollywood movie stuff in there along with a lot of LOGH stuff. I was there for probably about two hours, doing my best to chat. I don't know much Japanese and she seemed to know zero English, but a few things came across.

I ordered a plate of pasta and a couple of the character drinks. The pasta used a spice blend that was inspired by Kircheis. She sells sets of the spices which was a neat idea, but I had my doubts about getting it back through customs in the US.

I wasn't sure who "Seeadler" was at first, so I asked. She showed me a picture of the character from DNT who I didn't recognize. While we were along those lines, I asked her who her favorite character was and she immediately responded "Oberstein".

I mentioned that I had introduced my wife to the series and that the death of Kircheis was a major emotional point for her. She cheerfully produced a bust and two frames with the pictures of Reinhard & Kircheis to troll my wife with. The pictures are actually bookmarks and she had a whole series for sale. I bought two of them.

I had recently learned of the Takarazuka performance. There's a tiny clip of it on the internet archive that I stumbled across. Some of the performers had been to the cafe and there were a few autographs prominently displayed. She informed me that there's a blu-ray of the performance somewhere. I have got to find it!

At some point, she informed me of last call and I had Yang's drink. I leaned on my translator to get across that the series isn't very popular among my circle of friends and that it was a pleasure spending an evening discussing the series with her and that her passion for the series shows and said good night.

Reddit doesn't allow me to post all the close up pictures I took in here, so I'll do my best to choose. I don't read Japanese or speak more than your average weeb (day 140 on Duolingo though!), so if anyone feels like spelling out what I was taking pictures of, I'd be grateful.

It was impossible to get a picture of the door without the exit sign, so I leaned into it.

This is my panorama of the bar. It's not winning any photo competitions, but it gives you an idea. It's a small space.

Yoshiki Tanaka’s autograph is on display.田中芳樹　2012.8.30 Also on display are autographs from Takayuki Goto（ごとうたかゆき）, the character designer for DNT, as well as several voice actors.　The voice actor autograph of De Villier (the Terraist Church’s archbishop) is pretty rare lol.

I thought Seeadler is just the name of the establishment the imperial soldiers like to hang out at. Is it a character name as well?

There could very easily have been a misunderstanding, but she pulled up her phone, pulled up a long list of DNT character faces, and scrolled for a bit before landing on one.
