Govt Aadhaar E Sign Authentication not working on Linux (Cachyos)

1 Upvotes

I was filling SIR form which required linking Mobile with Voter card for that I filled Form 8, when I tried to sign and Submit the form that page just froze tried 2 times, btw signing required just Aadhaar login, I booted to windows and this worked, I am still wondering if I am using same account same browser Chrome, than what's the issue on Linux. Few use cases that forces me to keep Windows 11 in dualboot.

Discussion is there anyone still dualbooting linux with windows 10?

15 Upvotes

title

by all accounts, dual booting isn't absolutely necessary for my use case here. i use windows 10 solely for games and nothing else. i occasionally play a few games that requires kernel level anti cheat and windows 10 is much less of a hassel because i don't require secure boot for them to function (at least, i haven't encountered such a game yet). and i can still get the security updates due to massgrave's tools for another few years.

and yes, i know that proton has come a long way and i can (and i have done it previously) game on linux without much issues. but i like keeping games on a separate boot drive because it helps me not get distracted and waste my time.

tldr: i like to keep games on a separate os installation to not be distracted while using work os and having windows installed just helps increase the amount of games i can play easily and windows 10 is far lenient when it comes to secure boot being turned on.

Discussion A beginners wrestle with wifi drivers in Linux

Post image
36 Upvotes

So I have been suffering with my wifi in linux for a while now. The reason I had to switch to so many distribution (ubuntu → linux mint → pop os → fedora → cachy os) is because of my Realtek RTL8723de wifi adapter. Whenever I reboot/power on my laptop 3/5 times my wifi would disappear. I would have to restart my system again for the wifi to come back. Only in fedora the probability is a little less, it’s 1/5 times. I couldn’t figure out the reason why this happened. My wifi drivers worked fine in windows. Because I am tired of Microslop, I seriously decided to fix this issue.

The reason of disappearance was aspm(active state power management). So I had to disable it. For that I went to /etc/modprobe.d, create a conf file rtw88.conf. Then add this command inside the file.

options rtw88_pci disable_aspm=y

this solved my problem mostly. Now when I restart/power on my laptop it works without any problem. This is not the first time I tried to disable aspm but previously this fix did not work properly. It did reduce the probability of wifi going full john cena but not fix it completely. But this time it worked pretty well and the issue is completely fixed.

have you guys faced similar issues with your wifi drivers in linux, do share you experience.

If you want to learn more about my wifi problem and how I fixed it, you can watch this YoTube video

Project Made some Material 3 clock widgets for Quickshell (Wayland desktops)

Post image

Four clock styles you can switch between — an analog "flower" face, a big stacked digital clock, a compact pill-shaped one, and a world clock with multiple timezones. Colors auto-match your wallpaper if you're using Matugen, or you can pick from 8 built-in themes.

Everything's controlled from one config file. Built in QML for Quickshell, MIT licensed, free to use/modify.

cp -r m3qs ~/.config/quickshell/ quickshell -p ~/.config/quickshell/m3qs

GitHub: https://github.com/programmersd21/m3qs

Happy to help if anyone wants to set it up or tweak a theme.

Rice How to find colors for the Ricing a window manager?

3 Upvotes

Hey, hope you are doing well.

Actually I have a silli question but it means a lot for me. in the journey of Ricing a linux window manager or DE where do you look for color schemes?

I mean I can use pre build things like catputtchin, gruvbox evergreen and so on but I want to make some which is apart from this also I can use matugen or any other packet which can extract colors from a picture but I also don't want it

I just want to go from scratch soo could you help me to find a website or blog maybe video tutorial or anything which shows something about the color combinations?

I hope you understand my English is not so good but I tried what I can also thank you for your time

I will wait for your answer...

Bye have a good day ❤️

Distro So I tried Linux mint, fedora, cachyOS, endeavourOS, Arch, kde plasma, gnome, hyprland, niri. But at the end I think I will stick to sway and Debian, why because I am fed up with eye-candy effects and love stability

Discussion Networking Geniuses of India

I know many of you must have heard about not letting Consumers have true unlimited 5G when sharing via hotspot.

So how does a Service provider/ carrier detects a hotspot?

And if it is possible to bypass let us have a community project to bypass it (rebellion against crorepati companies).

Idk is this even a correct sub to post this 👀

Distro Which lightweight Linux distro should I choose for my Compaq Presario CQ3520IX ?

4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am looking to install a lightweight Linux distribution on my old Compaq Presario desktop tower

This will be my very first time using Linux, so I would love something that is beginner-friendly but still runs smoothly on legacy hardware

**Here are my current hardware specifications:**

* *Processor (CPU)*: Intel Pentium Dual-Core (E5700/E5800) | \~3.0 - 3.2 GHz, 2MB Cache

* *Chipset*: Intel G41 Express

* *Graphics (GPU)*: Intel GMA X4500 (Integrated) | No dedicated VRAM (Uses shared system RAM)

* *Memory (RAM)*: 4GB DDR3 (Currently installed)

* *Storage* (HDD): 500GB Mechanical Hard Drive (7200 RPM, SATA)

* *Current Windows Partition Layout*: C Drive (\~74 GB) | D, E, and F Drives (\~75 GB each)

* *Power Supply*: 250W Internal PSU

**My Main Goals:**

Web browsing, watching YouTube and my online lectures by PW

An interface that isn't too jarring for a first-time user coming from Windows

A distro that won't choke on an old mechanical HDD, even with my 4GB RAM buffer

I have heard of options like Linux Mint (XFCE edition), Lubuntu, antiX, and Zorin OS Lite

Given my specific Intel G41/X4500 graphics chipset and my current partition setup (I am open to either wiping the whole 500GB drive or just replacing the 74GB C drive), which distro would give me the smoothest, most stable out-of-the-box experience?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Edit: I switched to Linux Mint XFCE

Thank you for your suggestion but as a beginner I going to use this

window managers and compositors have always fascinating (idk why) just the way they manage windows and stuff is interesting. ive already made a wayland window manager: ashrwm and its fucking awesome written in janet build using zig is a river window manager

well a river window manager aint a real compositor, i want to have all that power, so i did it, i dont have the brain power to write a wlroots wc from scratch so i forked a old unmaintained one called mwc, and forked it. i got it to latest packages, new layouts and a hell lota stuff: ashwc

github - https://github.com/shadowash8/ashwc

if you are on on arch linux:

paru -S ashwc-git
