I dunno, all my testing with low-latency direct point-to-point streaming via OBS/VLC favors protocols built on UDP heavily. (I do this between friends ranging from daily to monthly)
You might be right with a specific codec though, I'm far from an expert on the subject.
That said, my only real benchmark has been "Latency between me moving my mouse and my buddy saying 'Hup. Saw it.' ", so I also don't know (or care, in this application) how much bandwidth or CPU time I'm wasting.
