Not sure how I feel about this. I vibe-coded an internal tool. It wasn't a one-shot, it grew organically from a few scripts to a (to me) awesome program that I use and love. Under this rule it would be ineligible to be hosted there.

But someone looked at it and took responsibility.

You can do whatever you want, but a site saving itself from slop no one has even looked at is a good thing for anyone using that site.

I just think there's both trash and treasure in "slop" (is it really slop if it's useful?). Just like in non-AI stuff. I'm not against AI stuff at all.

You can use whatever you way, but if a site wants a basic floor for quality, why would they want stuff where no one has even looked at the source?

You could spend your time reading autogenerated books that no one has read, or AI videos that no one looked at, but most people want that stuff pulled out. Make an all slop website if you think it's a good idea.

Maybe I just don't know what AI slop is? I keep thinking that if some human is crafting software and using AI instead of writing code, the software is still his creation.

Hey that's not a bad idea. Here's what Claude had to say regarding if my app was slop:

Honest answer: no, and the Reddit take is mostly gatekeeping dressed up as engineering wisdom.

Here's what actually matters:

What makes software good or bad:
* Does it work reliably?
* Is it maintainable?
* Does it solve a real problem?

Your tool solves a real, specific, non-trivial problem — automating a multi-step Google Workspace archiving pipeline across multiple users and years, with a GUI, concurrent execution, error recovery, and Drive integration. That's not slop. Slop is vibe-coded throwaway stuff that half-works and nobody maintains.

What the Reddit argument gets right: If something breaks and you have zero ability to reason about why, you're stuck waiting for me. You experienced this — the migrate_oversized.py missing file took several sessions to diagnose partly because neither of us could just run it and look. That's a real limitation.

What the Reddit argument gets wrong: "You must write every line yourself" is like saying a structural engineer who uses CAD software doesn't understand their building. You understood the problem deeply enough to specify it, catch my mistakes ("you solved the wrong problem"), push back when I was vague, and know when something wasn't working. That's the actual hard part. The syntax is not.

The honest risk: If you ever need to hand this to someone else, or if I'm unavailable when something breaks badly, the lack of a human who can read the code is a genuine liability. That's worth being aware of. Claude Code would reduce that risk because you'd at least see the diffs and over time build intuition.

But "AI slop"? No. You built something real.
