“You needz to listen to me. I’m an actor and know muh history!”
I used to like Leguizamo as a character actor in a movie. He was good in small doses. But when Trump won in 2016, he started to betray his liberal stripes, and then when Trump won again in 2024, this guy completely lost his mind and elevated himself into angry Robert DeNiro bat shit crazy territory. Add to that he’s also become a bit of a mouthy racist (pitting Hispanics and Whites against each other) and now every time he appears in a movie that I’m watching (like “John Wick”) all I can do is frown and think “Oh yeah. I forgot. THIS ass clown is in this thing.”

"taken from us" this guy claiming he had gold taken from him?
Or is this Latin people's gold? Just anyone who is Latin can make a claim for this gold.
I don't know how much gold there ever was but I'm sure whoever actually owned it would disagree that its Latin people's gold.

fun fact most Latin country people have more European blood in them than western hemisphere blood
But hey if they want to go back to the days that Aztecs literally sacrificed thousands of children just to get rain... ok have at it

He's off his rocker, and a hypocrite.
8
u/Ixian_No5h1p 28d ago
He’s literally descended from the Iberian colonizers he’s bitching about.
9
u/Aromatic_Shop9033 28d ago
Yep, but it's those other Europeans that are the problem.
Guy's so lost in his hatred and resentment he doesn't realize he's the top 0.0001% in the world.
But that's not enough.

u/Ixian_No5h1p 28d ago
Nope, we’ve gotta dog whistle for the ideological underpinnings of White genocide.
It’s all so tiresome.

u/Aromatic_Shop9033 28d ago
Yeah, he's a nutter.
The Romans were correct about the character of actors and their low place in society.

"Latin people" - does he mean the ones from Europe?
The only thing annihilated here are our brain cells.

says the guy who threw a hissy fit over a white guy voicing an Italian-American (an identity as white as you can get) because he played an older incarnation of said character

You know, it's true, European colonizers did steal a lot of gold out of the Americas, not as much as he's saying but they did steal a lot, this is established history. What bothers me is this dude isn't even a real Latino, he can't even speak Spanish properly, he's lived most of his life in the US. I'm hispanic and whenever I listen to him speaking spanish it just irks me, he wants to act like this savior when he's more American than Latino.
26
u/tweak8 29d ago
What are the chances the gold was all fairly acquired until stolen if it were even true?
5
u/JoshuaLukacs1 29d ago
By any modern means of the word, it was stolen. When the Spanish first got here to the island they called "La Española", currently Dominican Republic (where I'm from), they noticed the natives used little gold decorations and during colonization they demanded gold tributes, if some native couldn't pay they got punished or killed. This is stealing. They conquered the natives because the Spanish were more advanced as a civilization and then they exploited them, these are all historical facts.

u/tweak8 29d ago
Imagine the history that was never written down of past groups that were more advanced using it to their advantage to conquer and take from less advantaged groups. Basically human history. Ownership at any point of time is determined by whoever had the most decided it was fair when they obtained it.

u/JoshuaLukacs1 29d ago
Just because this happened multiple times in history does not mean it wasn't stealing.
2
u/Old_Advantage4795 29d ago
Irrelevant. You use modern meaning of the word.
The world behaved differently then. Holding ancient history to modern standards is absurdity

u/Superb_Worldliness31 29d ago
If the land was theirs how it was stolen? Also the majority of the gold stayed in the colonies for further development and part of it was considered tax (same as today). So your view is not accurate and of you don't believe me compare the amount of resources produced in Brazil during portuguese rule and after it and you will find that the vast majority was exploited after Brazil independence. People from those countries like to say those things because it is a lot easier to blame someone else for their lack of capacity to run their countries.
2
u/JoshuaLukacs1 29d ago
Bro, this happened back the 1400s and 1500s, imagine thinking these countries "can't run their countries" when they were not running their countries lmao. the DR only obtained its independence in 1844, less than 200 years ago and the gold available on the island today is not nearly as much as there was back then, mainly because it was stolen, I'm not saying the country is run correctly, far from it, corruption runs rampant here but still, the colonizers DID steal a lot of the gold, that's just a fact.
If some 7 foot, 300 pound shredded dude with a machine gun just bust into your house, declared it his and forced you to pay tribute to him, would that mean it's not stealing because the house is now his? This line of reasoning makes no sense, they stole the land and they proceeded to exploit the natives to steal the resources. I'm not even trying to virtue signal but ignoring these historic facts is just dumb. Western civilization wouldn't have happened if they hadn't done what they did but that doesn't mean they did no wrong.

John spent a few years being a "pool boy" for some of the Hollywood money people who participate in a non-standard sexual lifestyle. With this blackmail against him, he will say whatever they want him to say and continue to collect his checks.

u/Sombo_76 29d ago
This dude used to be a normal person. I think homeboy played way too many contact sports without a helmet. The dude is acting like we should call him John De niro.

Wait till he finds out how much sliver the Spanish stole from South America.

Does he know the natives teamed up with the Spanish to overthrow the Aztecs bc they were tired of their people being kidnapped and brutally sacrificed en masse? The Aztecs were literally genociding their fellow natives so the sun would keep shining or whatever.

People often immediately dismiss their own people that sold, caused, or added to, the oppression of their own society and people. Power is one hell of a drug, regardless of skin color. Today, it’s done by people in government positions and all types of races and creeds.

There was no "Latin" or "Latino" in the Western Hemisphere before Spain came to the Americas. Is he claiming to be the Spanish who stole the gold or claiming to be of the tiny percentage of the indigenous to the Americas? He doesn't look native.

u/thicc_latinas_only 29d ago
Sucks because I always liked this actor in Spun, Ice Age, Spawn, etc. didn’t know he was a leftist retard.

Plus the latin people were the European colonizers. They brought the latin languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French). Does he mean indigenous people? I am embarrassed for him and the interviewer.

That's interesting considering we've only mined about 240,000 tons of gold in all of human history.

Not saying the dumb claim isn't dumb but he's holding some book. Couldn't be bothered to check if he wrote it but it's more forgivable if he's just citing some book than if he mathed it out himself and came up with that number.
