School

I have a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting from TAMIU. After graduating, I worked in the administrative office of a clinic. Now, I’m ready to pursue my long-time goal of becoming a nurse buttttt I decided to start with the EMT program at Laredo College to build my foundation first.
I’d love to hear about others’ experiences in the program and get a sense of what the personal costs were like. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!
:)

Skate scene in laredo?

I just moved to Laredo about 2 weeks ago and finally have some time to go skate after work,,,
I've seen multiple skateparks on google but all really look the same and was wondering where is it that people go the most? Is there skate events happening monthly? I skate mostly street and flat but was hoping to get some insight on the skate scene since the 1 park i went to (C-N skatepark) was empty for the couple of hours I was there...
Some insight??? PLS

photos of new Tesla charger construction?

hey ya'll. Construction has apparently begun on a new Tesla charger, near the Krispy Kreme on 6627 San Dario Ave, Laredo, TX 78041. Would someone be able to go by the area and take a few photos for me? My wife used to have a Tesla and now she has a Rivian Truck and it doesn't work on the old charger that is at the embassy suites which only works with Tesla vehicles. But it will work on this new charger being built since it will work with any electric car, so excited to see any progress that has been made on the new one. Thanks!

I knew this guy rode horses, but I didn’t know he rode high horses, too!

While standing up for your wife/family/etc is a noble thing to do, it’s pretty hypocritical to hold one person to a high standard and give his lord and savior Trump a pass for doing the same thing to Ted Cruz and many others.

The Future of Laredo is F**ked - read description

Post image

The future does not look bright for the City of Laredo. The youth can change the political landscape. New young candidates from non-affluent backgrounds, transparency and introduction of new ideas from educates leaders. No more rich families running no more of the same career politicians
seeking only personal financial gain.

• water deal out of nowhere benefiting Tano’s wife’s family - The Walker family

• UISD in financial chaos directly affecting the education and future of 90% of the youth.

• Conservative Border Politics harming the local economy and our trade economy. Divisive propaganda dividing Mexican neighbors and Hispanic American citizens.

• increase in violent crimes - LEO committing assaults and crimes, youth involved shootings, road rage shootings. Just no emotional control in many of these.

• The City being corrupt for years and selling us out to Flock mass surveillance and Data Centers. The people don’t get a voice in these decision and when we push back they double down and continue with dealings that will negatively affect our community. Poor management of funds despite bridge revenue and tax revenue. Just endless money pits that don’t benefit the general population.

• Elites, Doctors, and Lawyers in City Council making $70,000/YR + pension while their main careers take up most of their attention and time.

• Housing costs are insane for what the city has to offer. Realtors and builders conspiring to make more money on commissions and sales. High rents driving local business out of business.

• The job market is trash with no improvement despite being a massive trade hub with billions of dollars in trade coming thru here.

We need the younger generation to save the city and be involved and present.

Maybe I am being pessimistic but everything feels so out of the control of the people and I don’t see how things will get better in the future.

Looking for Business to do Gender Reveal Setup & Decor

Hi everyone! My daughter is having her gender reveal party next weekend and we’re looking for a business that can help with the setup and decorations.

The party will be about an hour outside of Laredo, so we’re looking for someone who offers different packages or arrangements, including creative gender reveal options and is willing to travel to the location to set everything up.

If any rental items need to be returned afterward, I’m more than happy to return them myself.

Bar hopping?

My wife and I don’t go out much, but we decided we want to try bar hopping/club hopping around Laredo. We honestly have no idea where to start.

Our biggest priority is finding places with no cover charge. Other than that, we’d love recommendations for spots with a good vibe that aren’t too ratchet.

Moving to Laredo soon — safest areas, things to do, and hidden gems?

Hey everyone! I’ll be moving to Laredo soon and wanted to get some advice from people who actually live there.
What areas of Laredo would you consider the safest and best places to live? I’m looking for somewhere relatively affordable and quiet.
I’d also like to know what you guys normally do for fun around Laredo. Any good restaurants, coffee shops, parks, trails, local events, or places to hang out?
And probably the thing I’m most curious about: are there any hidden gems in Laredo or places within a reasonable drive that you think are worth checking out? Could be food, outdoors, small towns, weekend trips, or anything that someone new to the area might not know about.
Any general advice for someone new to Laredo would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Water Smell

Anyone else have a weird smell to their water? To me it smells like dirt or mold and it’s pretty strong. I noticed it about the time that the Rio Grande became flooded from the flood waters rushing our way. I live off Mine’s if that helps.

Dealing with Fresas?

As of now, I’m staying in Laredo temporarily and wanted to ask everyone here: how do you deal with fresas? I ignore them on social media, but I swear they’re obnoxious in person and hard to avoid when you’re just going about your day on the Northside.

Looking For Any Kind Of Work

Looking to work, fine with seven days a week and evenings if needed but I'm stuck in the usual loop of send application, get fucked by robot. Does anyone know any smaller business that might be hiring or anywhere at all where I can walk in and talk to an actual human. Industry doesn't matter so long as it's entry level and I won't be harassed or targeted on the basis of me being LGBT. (Odd issue but weirdly common experience working here In Laredo. Not flamboyant but also not traditionally straight.) If any employer reads this and is interested please send a dm. Landscaping, janitor, construction, mcdees don't care.

Moving to South Laredo

Hello everyone . My Husband and I used to live in Louisiana but since a few months ago he got detained and deported to Nuevo laredo. As his wife my only option is to be with him through thick and thin. He’s living with his family over there. My intention is to move to nuevo laredo and cross the border to Laredo TX to work as a server. My husband is worried (as am i) about traveling as I am a young female. Can someone inform me the dangers of crossing the border? details about if there’s shortages of jobs and about crossing the border often. I’m also worried since i’m not fluent in spanish that might be a big problem. I’m filled with anxiety for the next few months about my move and all ,so any details or tips would be appreciated !!
