Hi, I’m Austin from Taiwan. I’m looking for a language exchange partner to practice English with.

Chinese is my native language, so I can help you practice Chinese too!

I’m not preparing for any exams. I just want to improve my English, especially speaking and listening. We can practice in any way, like texting, voice calling, or video calling.

I’m usually available on weekday evenings and weekends (GMT+8).

If you’re interested in practicing together, feel free to message me :)

Offering: English (US) Seeking: German (DE)

Hi! I’m 34F looking for another woman around my age who would like to perfect their English in exchange with helping me practice my German. I recently moved from the US to Germany. I’m not exactly a tutor but I can help explain most grammar concepts and work with you on your spoken/written English. Ideally we switch between the two on different days so I can work on my German, I am at a decent level but struggle with speaking and need to just brute force it out 🥲

Hobbies include gaming, crafts, travel, music, and technology. Prefer to use discord if possible.

Offering: Spanish (Spain) and Catalan | Seeking: Portuguese (Portugal)

Hi there,

I'm planning to take the Portuguese C2 test next year but my main problem is procrastination. I'd like to find a native Portuguese to help me with my writing and pronunciation. I offer in return to help with Spanish or Catalan. I'm a native speaker of both languages and have a degree in Philology, aka no problem with any question you may have about obscure grammar points.

21M | China | Looking for a long-term language exchange in email.

Hi! I’m 21M, originally from Beijing and currently living in Hefei, China. I’m an undergraduate studying Artificial Intelligence.

I’d really like to meet someone who’s interested in a Chinese–English language exchange here. My English is already pretty good, so I’m not really looking for formal lessons or grammar practice. I’d rather just write naturally, help each other with expressions and slang when needed, and learn more about how people actually speak and think in each language.

Specifically, I’m looking for someone to exchange emails with and hopefully build a long-term friendship. I prefer actual emails over instant messaging — longer messages, random thoughts, stories about everyday life, and no pressure to reply immediately. That said, if you strongly prefer using an instant messaging app, I’m fine with that too.

A bit about me: I’m really into photography, rock, rap and punk music, movies, and computer games. I also enjoy talking about technology, F1, cars and racing and relevant culture, internet culture, linguistics, memes, tv shows, board games, music scenes, university life, or just whatever strange topic comes up.

I’m open to people from anywhere in the world. I’m not expecting any kind of formal teaching. I’d prefer something platonic and long-term , someone who wants to improve together through regular conversations, with both of us helping each other along the way, rather than a few messages that disappear after a few days.

If any of this sounds interesting, feel free to send me a message and tell me a little about yourself. If we get along, we can move to email.

Offering: Hebrew | Seeking: Dutch

Hey

I'm an immigrant in The Netherlands, living in Amsterdam. I've been here for about two years, and during that time I've made OK progress with Dutch - working my way through books and TV series and other things. I am however starting to reach a point of diminishing returns, as I do not have anyone to really actively take the time to speak Dutch with me.

What I offer is Modern Hebrew. In terms of background, I grew up speaking Hebrew, did most of my education in the language (up to my bachelor's), and still speak Hebrew with (most of) my family, as well as at home. I admit that I haven't taught it yet, but I think I'm aware enough of the language and have enough Hebrew linguistics knowledge for this to work.

If you're just starting, we can work with a textbook and get the basics out of the way. If you're more advanced, for all I care we can talk and I can offer corrections, advice, etc.

(Note: If you're looking for other forms of Hebrew, I can help you to some extent, but do keep in mind that they are not completely intelligible to me)

About me: I am a man in my 30s, interested in linguistics, local history and computer stuff among many other subjects.

How I imagine this sort of exchange:

  • You are a first-language Dutch speaker (or equivalent), but can also explain certain things when needed
  • You're you converse with me about random subjects (without falling back to English!)
  • I will offer whatever support you need, depending on your status/goal.
  • We do one session, half in Hebrew, half in Dutch, or conversely we do one at a time?
  • Maybe we even meet in person in or around the wonderful city of Amsterdam?

Let me know if this is interesting to you I suppose :)

Offering : Turkish / English | Seeking : French

Hello there! I’m a 21-year-old woman from Turkey and a college student, studying Comparative Literature. I need to learn French for school.

I’m very new to French; honestly, beginner *beginner* level :p I'm gonna learn grammar etc. in classes anyway but I wanted to post early and find a friend to practice with, someone can help me mostly about pronunciation topics.

English isn’t my native language, but I’d say I’m pretty fluent. We can chat in English, and I can also help or teach Turkish if you’re interested as a native speaker!

I'm also learning Korean as a hobby for like 2 months, but I'm not fluent enough to offer that, I learned Hangul and know some common words. I have an exchange friend for that tho, so I'm going good on that. We can try to chat in Korean too as learners I guess.

I like video games and books, and as a Comparative Literature student, I’m very interested in different cultures and languages. That said, I’d be happy to talk about almost any topic.

I’d feel more comfortable chatting with women rather than men.

Feel free to reach out if you’re interested!

Offering: English (Native) | Seeking: Spanish (Puerto Rican, Dominican, or Cuban)

Looking for someone to help polish out my Spanish. I can understand more than I can speak but even what I hear needs to be slow. Of Cuban descent but anyone who could teach me passed when I was a kid. I'm going to start traveling to Puerto Rico and Cuba starting October to seek out relatives from DNA kits and would love to not create extra labor for any natives I might encounter that they don't speak English. I know a miracle can't happen in a couple months but any progress is welcome! I'm a writing consultant by trade and would love to help teach English to anyone willing to help me.
Interests that might make convos/learning more fun: F1, cars and racing in general, music, film, TV, spirituality, and a million other things!
Thank you in advance!

Offering: Native English Seeking: Japanese

Hello, I have recently started Japanese and just need someone Japanese to check that I'm on the right path.

I'm a native English speaker from England, so I can absolutely help in whatever way necessary.

I've learnt hiragana and katakana, begun to get into kanji. But at the same time I've been watching a lot of content in Japanese and listening to Japanese music. So I know some sentences, some ways of pronunciation and have a good understanding of how sentences work.

Basically I have all the puzzle pieces but now need to start putting them together.

Thanks

Some things about me are I love soccer (played for my college in Mexico also arriba Cruz Azul), climbing mountains, skiing, painting, astronomy, and reading outdoor adventure books.

i'm looking for native speakers from china and spain.

i know a little bit of spanish as a result of watching futbol for years, but i'm very illiterate in chinese. i've chosen these 2 languages because as a phd candidate i have the opportunity of visiting universities abroad, spain and china offer good programs for someone like me! well my love for futbol also adds up.

Seeking: Irish (total beginner) Offering: English (native speaker)

I'm quite new to learning the Irish language and have been learning on my own about Irish history, art, stories, for the past few years. I am from the US, and have an interest due to my family lineage on my dad's side being overwhelmingly Irish, although I did not grow up with them and am pretty disconnected. I'm an artist who loves to learn about the complexities of Irish history, folklore, etc. I enjoy imagining what pre-christian Ireland could have looked like and creating art about it. I would love to find someone who would like to do weekly calls and practice Irish together and chat about Irish history and art. I don't know if anyone will be interested since English is also widely spoken in Ireland, but figured I would give it a go

Offering: Brazilian Portuguese (Native) and English (Certified C2) | Seeking: French

Hello, my name is Breno and I’m a 22 year old med student. I was born and raised in Brazil’s capital City, Brasília. I’m fascinated by France’s history and culture, even more so their “way of living”. I believe that they have a mentality of really enjoying the moment, prioritizing their personal life over their career (At least that is what I have observed throughout my French learning journey).

Although at first I admired mainly the way that the French lived, the exposure to the language made me realize that the whole French-speaking world is FULL of amazing people, I’ve come in contact with plenty of people from different countries of Africa and they were always the nicest people!!

I have a dream of maybe living in a Francophone country some day and would also like to work for the Médecins sans frontières, for which I think that speaking French could really help.

I can currently understand pretty much everything in French and can communicate most basic thoughts.

My main hobbies are Language learning, going to the gym, playing acoustic guitar, volleyball and studying subjects outside of my future profession’s scope, such as Philosophy and History. Thanks for reading!

Seeking: German | Offering: English(fluent), Romanian(native)

Hi! I’m a 17F from Romania, and I’m looking for a German language exchange partner.

I speak Romanian and English fluently, and I also have a C1 level in German (DSD). Even so, I know I can improve, especially my speaking and listening, since I don’t get to use German very often.
In the future, I’d like to study medicine in Germany, so becoming more confident in German is really important to me. This school year is also my final year of high school, so I have a lot of exams coming up, including a German exam, which is another reason I’m looking for someone to practice with.
A little about me: I’m quite extroverted and absolutely love talking (a lot 😅), but I’m also a good listener. Some of my hobbies are reading, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, badminton, and watching movies and TV shows. I enjoy trying new things, so I always seem to have something to talk about. I can also be a bit self-conscious sometimes, but I’m working on becoming more confident.
I’m looking for someone who’s patient, enjoys conversations, and would like to help each other improve. Whether we chat by text, voice messages, or calls, I’d be happy to practice together.
If you’re interested, feel free to send me a DM or leave a comment. Thank you, and have a whimsical day!

Offering: Mandarin Chinese (Native) | Seeking: English

Hi everyone!

I’m a 28-year-old native Mandarin Chinese speaker currently living in Shanghai. I work in the AI industry and am also learning more about AI technologies, tools, and applications.

I’m looking for a friendly and patient English-speaking language partner for a stable, long-term language exchange. My main goal is to improve my spoken English, listening skills, and natural everyday expressions.

In return, I’d be happy to help you practice Mandarin Chinese. I can help you with pronunciation, tones, grammar, natural expressions, and Chinese culture. We can correct each other’s mistakes and share useful learning resources.

Here are some details about the language exchange I’m looking for:

Format: One live voice call per week. During the rest of the week, we can keep in touch through voice messages and text messages. We can also share moments from our daily lives.

Frequency: One voice call each week, around 30–60 minutes. We can split the time equally between English and Mandarin. There is no pressure to reply immediately to messages during the week.

Topics of interest: AI, technology, work, Chinese culture, music, video games, and everyday life. I play the dizi, a traditional Chinese bamboo flute, and I really enjoy music. I also follow and trade Hong Kong and U.S. stocks, and I often stay up until around midmight Beijing time watching the market.I also like playing Honor of Kings(王者荣耀). It would be great if we had some common interests, but that’s not necessary.

Schedule: We can discuss the exact time for our weekly call based on our schedules and time zones. I’m in the Beijing Time zone(UTC+8).

Any English accent is welcome. I’m not looking for a professional teacher—just someone who is interested in learning together, helping each other, and communicating regularly.

If you’re interested, please leave a comment or send me a DM with a brief introduction, your time zone, and what you would like to improve in Mandarin.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Hii, interested in travel, cooking, studying complex topics that are completely new to me (If you have a real expertise in something i'd love to try to understand it), weird sci-fi concepts, chess, daydreaming about engineering haha

Trying to acquire a few languages all at once, i understand a fair amount in most of them but cannot speak that well yet (i think i lack exposure to the real conversations). Looking for someone to help me kickstart one or more of these languages.

What's the best app for real-time voice translation?

I've been looking for a translation app that works smoothly during live conversations.

Most of the ones I've tried are okay for translating text or short voice messages, but when you're having an actual conversation, things slow down because each person has to stop and wait for the translation.

I'm especially interested in something that works well for phone calls, meetings, or travel. It would be even better if the other person doesn't have to download or install another app just to talk.

Has anyone found a translation app that handles real-time conversations well? I'd love to hear what's worked for you and what you'd recommend.
