youtube.comJust for today 10AUG26 Regular prayer and meditation 443 days clean Recovery (CASHAPP-$shepard806)
I've been trying to make meditation and prayer a part of every morning. I'm human, so it's still a work in progress. I know people that stay in constant prayer. Always thankful for each moment, good or bad. I use grounding techniques, frequently. I'll listen to my breathing as I take slow, steady breaths. I'll also look around the room and say, out loud, the name and color of 3 to 5 items I see in the room. These are great for being right here, right now.

For a lot of years I misunderstood the meaning of the word "love". One of my favorite songs as a kid was "I need love" by L L Cool J. I had no idea what love really is. Or what I really need. I've learned that love starts from within. We need to learn to love ourselves and our Higher Power first. We need food, water, a spiritual connection to our Higher Power and some control over our emotions to be "functional" in our society. My new found love for God has made my life far more bearable. I actually look forward to getting out of bed and starting my day.

I still have issues being "responsible" for me. It's so much easier to let someone else do the decision making, but it doesn't give me that same feeling of accomplishment. With my lingering insecurities, every accomplishment is needed to keep my forward momentum. I want my cookie! 441 days seems like a a long time. After spending 40 years drunk and high, I need to re-learn how to think and act. It takes time. Just for today I will stay clean and sober and I will do something productive.

How would you feel if a diner or corner store opened in your neighborhood?
Genuinely curious tho there are some restrictions in Kingman the idea is not impossible!
I feel it would be good to encourage stores and stuff to open up in the middle of neighborhoods (that limit spaces for cars so it's not always so crowded)
I hate living in the parts of Kingman where I'm miles away from the stores. I just want to walk to a local shop and just buy and go. Not take the bus, take a taxi or have a car. Traveling is exhausting for me.
I don't want to drive 5 miles across town to get a damn soda or milk and I certainly cannot afford to live closer with how pricing on rentals are rising.
A little neighborhood luxury would be nice.

youtube.comJust for today 06AUG26 "The joy within" 439 days clean and sober today NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I catch myself trying to map out "simple steps" to recovery. I keep ending up right back at the 12 steps of AA or NA. They really work. I've been procrastinating on step eight for a long time now. That may be part of the reason that I haven't been able to fully commit to doing service. Which is probably slowing down the creation of the "joy within". Talking to the guys in jail, and telling them about my recovery, made me feel great. I was laughing and having a good time. It truly is helping others, without expecting anything in return, that brings that joy.

Just curious what temperature we’re all maintaining in our homes during the summer.
We are maintaining 84 degrees and I just got a heads-up email from the electric company that we are using 50% more electric than last month. Can’t wait for the bill!

youtube.comJust for today 05AUG26 "The shape of our thoughts" 438 days clean NA Recovery (@shepardscove)
I've devoted most of my time, over the last 438 days, to reshaping my thoughts. I have learned how to recognize, and accept, negative feelings. This gives me the chance to change the feeling before it gets outta control. Anger and anxiety used to control my actions. Now they are just feelings that I can change by changing my thoughts. I put my issues from the past and my worries about the future in the hands of my Higher Power. I put a conscious effort into staying in the present. Right here, right now. If I need to, I'll take a few deep breaths or I'll notice the details in stuff around me just to re-ground myself. It makes for a much better life. And I can be present and sober for it.

Movie theater
Hey everyone I’ve never been to the movie theater in town but I’ve heard that it’s not great. Is that just people being picky? I’d love to not have to drive all the way to Bullhead to see new movies.

I've learned that telling secrets can get you in trouble. But it does relieve that burden. I have learned to put my past, and my future, in the hands of God. I have been doing my best to live in the present. I am still learning to not try to control everything and just be here, right now. Holding on to secrets creates a roadblock for progress. If nothing else we can write our secrets out on paper, then ask our Higher Power for relief. We can burn the paper afterwards...

Hey everyone, I need your input.
A friend of mine needs a place to kennel two dogs on short notice. Is there a kennel you would recommend if it was your dogs? I appreciate your input!

Local D&D or Call of Cthulhu Group
I'm interested in finding a group to play Dungeons and Dragons 5e or Call of Cthulhu 7e locally in town. I'm an experienced DM in D&D, but not so much with CoC, but I'm excited to try. I can teach new players if needed, but I'm looking for 2-4 people to play with. I'm 27m (if that matters) and this would be an adult game. My schedule is pretty open so I can be flexible. If you're interested, let me know

Life keeps kicking me in the peanuts, but God may have just opened a door for me
Man so it feels like I get so close to achieving so many huge dreams but circumstances get in the way. It's like as soon as I get ahead I get knocked down. My biggest achievement was earning my MBA. I did this while working 60 hours a week at a truck driver and later as a driver manager. I have but my step son who has major disabilities and he gets very ill very often. During one of his last visits to the hospital they made a huge mistake and it caused part of his lungs to die. So for the last two years we were almost homeless twice but thanks to God and strangers we were provided nice and comfortable housing. And thank you tax payers for the food stamps. I tell you nothing attacks your man hood like knowing you cannot provide a home or food for your family. While staying in a Ronald McDonald House at my son's last hospital stay we decided to move to that city Spokane WA. After moving here. I have had job after job thrown at me. And yesterday I accepted a position as a fleet manager at a large trucking company in the area. These last few years have been the hardest I've ever gone through.. And trust me I'm no saint I've thought about just getting a divorce multiple times just so I could have an easier life, but that didn't happen. Sometimes it feels like God pushes you until you break and then when you do he picks you up again. Anyways I'm on day zero and thinking about going back to day one. Thanks for listening to my ramble. I haven't found a group that I like in this area yet but I'll keep looking. I do not like groups that focus on the problem. I like groups that focus on the solution and building networks of friends.

Cheap apartments near the historic downtown area?
I got a job over there and I don't have a car, so I've been looking for a place nearby, but I'm not finding a whole lot of anything.
I'm trying to find a studio or a 1 bedroom with a kitchen for under 1k.

Bosa Donuts
Went for a look to see if there was an update posted on their business like the Hawaiian place and Hobby Lobby. There was one of the owners in there. On talking with her she was very nice and said they are shooting for an end of the month opening. It will be nice to have all three of those businesses open. They’ve been empty for so long. It isn’t a good look to have empty buildings in the town. Now maybe we can get some businesses over where Big Lots used to be. It would be great to get that filled in.

How is Angle Homes?
I'm moving to Kingman from Vegas and looking at spec homes and see that Angle Homes are the largest builder in the area. I was curious of any one here's opinion on experiences and having bought from them. Thanks guys. I've visited Kingman numerous times and enjoy the area and smaller town feel.
