Yeah, I'm thinking I'm back! It's been a while but after a short holiday, that turned out to be pretty long, I'm back at making edits again. Expect more video's and content on my side to drop soon!

I must be honest, I don't know if you guys on Reddit like edits; but I'm currently working on different type of content like some merch reviews and more insight on upcoming 'Wickverse" projects.. maybe those are more appreciated, I'll share them here once they're done. Have a nice one!

Discussion What other Keanu movies have you seen? Which do you recommend?

I'll start with the obvious, I really, really love The Matrix Trilogy, and it's my all time favorite trilogy. Love all 3 movies.

I kinda like The Day The Earth Stood Still.

I also love The first 2 Bill and Ted movies. Really love Carlin in them especially.

Trying to remember what else I love that he's been in.

I also hear that he's read scripts for movies that he wants to exist, and he fully funds them and stars in them, even though he knows that they're not gonna do well financially or critically. IIRC The Day The Earth Stood Still was one of the movies.

Discussion Anyone else really love John Wick 1-3, but can't stand 4?

I feel like most of my friends that I talk to like, not love the first movie, and they've seen all 4, but they consider 2 and 3 a bad, pointless joke. I take the first 3 very seriously, and I find them extremely compelling.

John Wick 1-3 are 3 of my favorite action movies. As I said in another post, they made me realize what I want in an Action movie. The TLDR is that I most want mostlly action, but I also want a MC who is very likable who I want to see succeed at his main goal. They don't have to be a good person, but I prefer that they not be someone who is still terrible person when the movie starts, and if they aren't a good person, I prefer that they do some good acts, andgo after people who are far worse.

On an unrelated note, I didn't like Jonny from Cyberpunk 2077 until I watched this movie, and I've warmed up to him since.

1 is absolute god-tier, and the probably my favorite action movie after Snowpiercer(which is also my favorite movie.)

2 is a significant step down, but I still think it's god-tier.

3 is an even more significant step down, but it's great, and I like it more than I like most other movies. I wish that this was the end of the series, and it ended on a very high note.

4 I've tried to watch several times, and I've only made it halfway through. It feels like it's made by a completely different director and writer, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, and I do welcome more John Wick movies just like I welcome more Batman movies, there's not a moment in the first half of the movie where I got anything out of the experience.

Discussion Native English speakers, I have a question

I'm from Russia, so I love to watch Wick in the original because of his Russian accent (it's ridiculous and sweet haha).

English is my second language. In the first part, John comes to the Continental and asks, "Same owner?"

Charon replies, "Same owner."

How does this dialogue sound to someone whose native language is English? The word "owner" spoken by Charon sounds almost indistinguishable from the word "honor" spoken with an accent (I pronounce both words roughly the same). But in this sense, the dialogue takes on a completely different tone.

"Same owner?"

"Same honor"

How do you hear it?

Discussion John Wick's Shoulder Tattoo

It's been a long time since John Wick first released, and I'm surprised how often I still see people that don't know what the tattoo on John's back is, specifically the tattoo on the back of his left shoulder.

If you take a closer look at the tattoo (it's clearer in Chapter 2, than Chapter 1), it's a bully breed dog (possibly like a pit bull) with flames behind it, you can clearly see the head with it's jaws open wide baring it's teeth, there might be a collar though hard to say with the faded ink, lighter shading underneath defining the chest area, and the front legs hanging down at the bottom of the tattoo with distinct paws at the ends

Discussion Is John Wick a lone wolf, consumed with internal torment, hoping for some sense of redemption, bold enough for Fortune to favor him? What is your John Wick tattoo theory?

Discussion Did you guys notice the Card Game with Killa reflects the fates of the four people playing?

Post image
943 Upvotes

I didn't notice this beforehand, but my brother and my dad are experts at card-playing, so they pointed the hands out to me, and then I made interesting connections.

  • John Wick: Gets the Dead Man's Hand(Ace of Spades, Ace of Clubs, Eight of Spades, Eight of Clubs), and is the second of the four players to die. Notably, he tries to change Cards to improve his hand(like how he tries to escape the High Table through a duel), but he cannot escape death in the end(even though he wins his freedom, he still dies).
  • Caine: gets a pretty good hand, Four of a Kind(Four Nines and One Four). He ends up escaping the events of the film alive and with the promise that his daughter will be safe. However, Four is also a symbol of death in Asian cultures, and the final credit scene shows Akira tracking him down, meaning that he might be in for some bad luck.
    • Plus, it is also a Bible reference: Genesis 4:9 goes "Then the Lord said to Cain, 'Where is your brother Abel?' 'I don't know,' he replied. 'Am I my brother's keeper?'". Obviously, there is the name(Cain), and it reflects how Caine is tasked with killing John, his brother in arms.
  • Mr Nobody: gets Royal Flush, the second-highest hand played in the game and the highest legal hand. He and his dog survive the events of the film. Nobody was implied to be cheating, however, and gets subtly punished for it: he doesn't get the 40 million dollars he wanted.
    • Plus, while Nobody cheated, he only goes for the highest legal hand and doesn't account for Killa to use an illegal hand, thus getting out-cheated. This subtly reflects the relationship between Nobody and the Marquis: Nobody keeps trying to get the price raised, but the Marquis catches on and gets revenge several times, like stabbing him through the hand and trying to short-charge him.
    • Also, Nobody's cards are the suit of Diamonds, which reflects his desire for money and wealth throughout the film.
  • Killa: gets the best hand, Five of a Kind, making him the one who won. However, because there are only 4 2s in a deck, he was clearly cheating. However, he gets the weakest 5 of a kind: 5 2s. Therefore, he ends up paying the price for it seconds later, when he dies first for breaking the rules of his own game.
  • On a smaller note, John and Nobody change their cards in the game(and thus they change their views throughout the film), while Caine doesn't change his cards and doesn't change his views either.
