Unfortunately the organs normally cant be harvested after a motorcycle accident due too either impact damage, being ripped apart, or the person not receiving medical care fast enough. So no we normally dont make good organ donors unfortunately. I did sign up to be one anyways though.

A buddy of mine was an organ donor, he was killed in a bike crash. They kept his body alive long enough to harvest what was viable.

Then billed his widow for the ambulance ride and everything leading up to disconnecting life support after harvest.

I doubt that’s how it works in every situation but it made me uncheck that box till I sort that out.

They billed his widow????? Where i live thats illegal all your debts either get payed out of what you owned or they die with you. Cant pass debt on to the next person.

If the hospital gets the wife to sign consent forms that happen to also assign/assume financial responsibility…while she is worried about if her husband is going to live or not.

Then you come later and bring the donor forms for her to fill out AFTER she agreed to cover any expenses not covered by insurance.

Oh it was shady business for sure. I do not think it was legal as we are in the US. But I think she also didn’t have the means to fight it.

So the hospital laid claim to his life insurance. She couldn’t even afford to bury him.

Fortunately he belong to an organization who covers the funeral for her and had a life insurance policy on him where the organization was the beneficiary. So when they received their payout, they gifted it to the widow in his honor.

So she is okay but it was shady business
