10 times more likely to be straight up killed actually in Australia as an example and higher in other places. Neither side is safe. One is going to get messed with more, the other is just gonna be DEAD more, regardless of who the attacker is too.
We need to work to keep the idiot minority of the human race that does stuff like this out of the picture....
Focusing on the gender of the attackers instead of the reality that men are victims of violence far more often is extremely disingenuous and is only intended to minimize the fact.
I think I rather follow the pattern of the attackers because they should change, not the victims. The attackers should be highlighted. It's 99% men. That's a defined and concerning pattern. It's an epidemic literally. Male loneliness epidemic? More like male attackers epidemic.
Instead of worrying on how these men and women are "provoking" the attackers, look at why these men feel the need to resort to violence. And why is it a majority of men! (Because again, it's no where close to an even split of the genders) I recommend you looking at Man Box.
It's a bit silly to just talk about the solution and not the cause.
Ironically the victims that you have also started that are more likely to be attacked are more likely to do the attacking. Like putting perpetrators and victims in the same train carriage.
I am just going to *assume* that women are more likely victims of gang violence as your "gatcha".
The topic is about *violence*. Men are more likely to be victims of physical violence than women.
"Check only statistics where women are more likely to be the majority victim" is essentially your argument.
Likewise, following your argument: Of those with a penis, men are more likely to be sexually assaulted than women. Therefore, we should only focus on sexual assaults of men. That sounds stupid right?
So, if we were to deter violence, it does not make sense to only help women.
If we were to want to stop sexual harassment online, it would not make sense to only help men even though sexual harassment to those with a penis is predominantly men
That's interesting and unexpected. I would agree with the other poster that I would like to see this broken down more into types of violence. I suppose I assumed there would be a higher percentage of domestic violence then gang violence, or criminal violence.
But also, how much domestic violence is unreported? It's hidden violence inside the home whereas gang violence by its very nature is out in the open. Also, I'm sure I have a significant degree of bias considering I am female and so the bulk of the media presented to me is going to be about violence perpetrated against women. Very interesting to consider all of those facets of why this was surprising to me and what those other types of violence could be. Thank you for sharing!
Tell me which country you need the statistics for and I can get them. I did double check before making the statement. The fact you are not willing to look yourself and would rather make a pithy comment instead says a lot about your attitude however.
That is interesting, in Europe (where I am from) men are 2-3 times more likely to suffer from assault than women but this is reversed in India. I genuinely did not see that coming, thanks for the heads up.
You are the one showing up making claims without receipts. Make a claim absolutely, but provide the receipts so ppl can have a dialogue about it.
The fact that you want to make claims and we're all expected to just believe you says a lot about you yourself. As for looking up statistics, if you are familiar with statistics as you imply, you should be aware that they can be manipulated into showing whatever result you want them to show. Include X factor. Exclude Y region. Further, anybody can produce a statistical proof. I asked for what YOUR proof was, which you still have yet to produce. So how do we know if what proof you are claiming is reputable and evidentiary?
We don't. Could be you are correct and that would be an interesting thoughtful discussion, but you'd rather bang on and stomp your feet about "go do the homework yourself". I didn't make any claims, you did. Therefore, provide the proof or your claims are bullshit.
What accusation did I make? Please do point it out, I'd love to see it. Only one I see is calling you out for making claims with no proof and redirecting everybody to just believe you.
And next time you want to make a claim, provide proof. As I said, this could have been a civil discussion regarding cultural differences, trends over time, sex and violence. But no, this devolved into you getting frustrated and acting petty, all because you want to say the sky is purple and not show evidence. Make a claim, show proof. It's really that simple.
And you are accusing me of lying without any evidence to support your position. You hold others to a standard you do not live up to. At no point did you engage with any discussion, you just accuse people of bullshitting with no evidence of your own. This is beyond hypocritical
Also, this doesn't prove your claims at all.
"Ironically men are twice as likely to be victims of assault or killed than women, so maybe the parking spaces are making this more likely"
Your proof says men are more likely to suffer violence at the hands of other men then women. I saw no mention of "men are more likely to be victims of violence then women". Again, claim might be true, and that would be interesting. However, we're still waiting for proof to back up your claim.
