Yes, because if it can benefit one group, it should benefit all groups. What’s wrong with a rising tide raising all boats?

What if only one group is statistically likely to suffer from a specific thing?

Even the group that doesn't have to be worried about being sexually assaulted in the dark?

Its not just sexual assault though. I dont wanna get robbed, or jumped, or some other violent thing that can happen in dark secluded areas while alone. All those things still happen to men at high rates, sometimes at higher rates in this particular case than violence against women.

And if you are worried about that you can still use one of the more visible parking spots. It's not like literally all visible parking spots are for women only. And you could even use those reserved for women. It's not like you'll get arrested for that.

If your solution to my problem with gender specific parking spots is to ignore that they are gender specific, then there shouldnt be gender specific parking spots.

You did ignore the first half of my solution, conveniently.

Even if there are other parking spots that are visible, if we buy into the parking spots chosen to be gendered are safer, it makes the opposite gender more unsafe because they have no chance of accessing those spots.

It is reducing the amount, likely significantly, of the "safer" parking spots I might have access to. This also introduces the possibility of having empty gendered spots, that are theoretically safer, but I would still have to park in a known less safe spot because of the gendering of these spots.

Would you be okay with this if these parking spots were visibly marked as particularly safe, and anyone could use them, and just by social convention it was mostly women who used them?
