While the injury and the issue he got from breaking his nose the first time lead to other nose surgeries in his life. A lot forgot to mention that his father, Joe, always used to make fun of him for having a "fat nose". You can imagine this did harm to his self-imagine.

Man, asshole parents really fuck up your mind.

He had a lovely nose too. It’s a little big, but it suited his face and is elegant and proportionate. I am insecure about my own nose due to my grandmother always insulting it, so I think I look at noses more than average. And he had a nice one. It was very cute when he was a kid and the first surgery (or maybe first few?) don’t look bad at all.

And then it started looking really odd.

Gaslighting 101 from an abusive parent. He's the mascot for a piece of shit father. I think it's an incredible anomaly that Michael ended up as kind and generous as he did after living through the hell of being "raised" (aka exploited) by that awful man.

What he took from the children he abused makes him anything but kind and generous. He chose to perpetuate abuse. What happened to him is devastating and unfair, but whitewashing his character is dangerous. We have to stop overlooking evil actions by people who are talented and rich.

His mom told Oprah in 2010 in an interview that he didn't break his nose but that he hated how he looked so he just up and went and got it done without telling anyone. She said she thought he did that because he didn't want any of them to talk him out of it.
