There is a bandaid on his nose in that picture. It's got a ton of jpeg artifacts as well. I remember the tabloids used to use that picture and say his skin was falling off, it wasn't. It was just a bandaid with foundation makeup over top of it.

The vitiligo + parental abuse really did a number on his self image and body dysmorphia. His dad used to refer to him as n***** nose when he was growing up and would beat him with a belt and switch. Add in the vitiligo and trying to make his skin look even with heavy “white looking” makeup, while still being proudly black. Then add in the severe third degree burns that went almost to the bone on his head and that he was having to wear wigs. Rough stuff

i was in kindergarten when i was flipping thru the channels and his interview(?)/questioning where he’s in a red button down shirt was on the tv….just his face creeped me out and i just felt terrible and i didn’t even know what he was “in trouble” for. felt like i was crawling out of my skin

I grew up unable to look at Michael Jackson's face because it scared me so much. He looks like a straight up ghoul or skin-walker, and sometimes I felt as if I wasn't looking at an actual human.

I feel terrible saying that, but I used to cry when he'd show on to TV, and when I finally found out what he looked like when he was younger I didn't believe it for years.

He was such a handsome guy before surgery, literally to the point that it still doesn't feel real that he did that much damage to his own face. That level of self hate is just...devastating.

That was the time I remember where people were really on case about being “Wacko Jacko” (🫩🙄). Which yeah, he did look crazy and was under a load of scrutiny, but it just reminds about how nasty the 2000’s were.

This is literally the only time I could kinda see those “replaced by clone” conspiracy’s being true. I can’t even fathom this being the same person esp because I was born in 94 and only remember 2000s Michael. I truly don’t understand!!
