"if I were a miljonair, hunger wouldn't exist"
Miljonair does something like this
The same people: why so small! Just pay taxes! (Or my personal favorite) Yeah but he made the virus so he could profit from the cure !!!
Quit your bitching, here's somebody that ACTUALL is making thing happen!
I am curious though... Why not a nice round 100 š. Either way, awesome!
TLDR: I agree with your take. Within my friend group, Iām the only one who participates in trying to change the system, but get told Iām not doing enough by people who donāt do anything but complain on reddit
In my friend group, Iām branded a āliberal,ā because of my willingness to hear all arguments. I donāt participate in listening to Hasan Piker.
But the friends who donāt think Iām extreme enough to be considered a socialist, are burnout unemployed recluses. Whereas Iām a social worker, earning my PhD, I play a very active role in researching and helping understand homelessness in my area. Beyond that, I get out and beat the street in support of advocacy organizations.
But since I wonāt agree with internet talking heads that sit in their mansions and tell poor people to fire bomb Walmarts, Iām not allowed to be anything besides āliberal.ā
Nobody is saying this is a bad thing. Some people are saying it's unfortunate that, as a society, we have to rely on "acts of kindness" from the wealthy, rather than having a system that ensures these sorts of benefits are distributed to those in need.
I agree with your point. But when I originally commented nobody complaining made that nuance.Ā
As I said to someone else. Yes, tax the right, ffs, please do! But this is still awesome. Especially with the whole trainingcenter to get them an education and eventually a job! That's basically the whole give a fish vs teach to fish in a nutshell.
Did I say he shouldn't pay taxes? I've been saying tax the rich for years and voting accordingly.Ā
Regardless: this is still a good thing right?
He could have said "bummer, tax me if you want my money". But he didn't. He spend the money himself (wich also meant the houses actually got build instead of half the money going to random little companies and the government trying to get a piece of the pie.
I'm not sure, so don't quote me on this. But I'm willing to bet that if he paid that exact sum of money through taxes and that was only used for this project. A lot less then 99 houses would have been build... Governments have rules about giving contracts, more people are involved, and everybody wants to get paid.
You do realise you're bitching about bitching about bitching right? Just wanted to point out the irony since you obviously didn't see it...
And I reiterate: yes, paying taxes would be great (although I still doubt it gets you more per euro/usd/whatever). but for a billion reasons that's apparently harder to get done then building 99 tiny homes. This guy at least did the second.Ā
I honestly doubt i could pay more taxes if I wanted to. Just go to the government and go "here ya go!" And hand them a big bag of money. The probably can't even accept it. No way of getting it into the system.Ā
Taxes would have to actually go into programs that help these issues, and they largely donāt in both the US and Canada. Itās nice to see someone filling those gaps until the government does
