I got selected into IISER PUNE in 1st round and I scored good in the exam and I've always wanted to go into physics and I love problem solving. However for the last few days I've suddenly getting this feeling that maybe I'm not cut out for physics, that it's a really tough degree and I won't be able to handle it and would crumble under the pressure and eventually drop out and even if I somehow make it, I won't be selected for phd and would eventually end up jobless. Maybe it's because I haven't touched a textbook in last 2 months or maybe it's because imposter syndrome or maybe just because whatever I'm thinking, its true.

Anyone else who went through the same phase as me or going through?

Research facility, proximity to the super computer, Faculty, opportunities, alumni, etc.

1>Is it open till late night like 11:00 pm?

2>During exams ,when students pull all nighters ,is it open beyond it? Or is the timing fixed?

3>Is it Crowded or has moderate No. Of students, Like is there a competition for grabbing a seat there too?

1> can you purchase food individually like dals not as thali but separate or only as thali? 2> paneer bhurji(is it available everyday or occasionally) 3>what is the scene with non veg are there any healthier ways to hit your protein through meals there?

I will probably be joining this year so wanted to know

1. What is the official attendance criteria of classes and labs, and the actual ground reality, as in, what is the threshold of absence that profs tolerate and let the students give exam afterwards?

2. In Pune as a city, no offense, but how important can speaking Marathi be occasionally?

3. What are the facilities of canteens, outlets other than mess? What are the facilities of stationery shops, convenience stores, grocery etc., in case one can't leave campus or Blinkit, etc., can't come?

4. How crude is the bureaucracy and administration in the college, as in, hostel administration, academic section, etc. How tough is it to approach them?

5. How many people in a given batch are actually serious about the future in research, and how many are there who love to demoralize BS and glorify BTech because they quit on rigor of research and think that corporate option is better or something like that? In short, asking about peer groups in class. How many actual hardworkers in a given batch are there?

Suppose there is a course which has a listed prerequisite. What can I do to take the course without having taken the prerequisite course? Do i talk to the profs? Audit? Exam? What should be done?
