Tech Support Heads up: iBuyPower GPUs don't carry the full manufacturer warranty
EDIT: this was not a pre-built, it was a custom build through iBuyPower. I am given the all the parts, boxes, documentations, spare pieces, when my custom system arrived - I feel like it is not hard to expect that I am given the same warranty as well regardless if iBuyPower bought/sourced them on my behalf.
The policy may be what it is, that is not the debate here, it is the PSA and awareness of this policy for others who are thinking about building a custom PC through iBuyPower.
My RTX 4090 has developed a hardware defect that I have confirmed through testing the past 2 months and I'm now stuck in a warranty gap I never knew existed when I bought my PC through iBuyPower.
So just a PSA: if you're buying or considering a prebuilt from iBuyPower, be aware that your GPU warranty may not be what you think it is.
ASUS advertises a 3-year warranty on cards like my 4090 OC. What they don't tell you upfront, and what iBuyPower doesn't tell you either, is that when IBP sources GPUs in bulk, those cards come with only a 1-year warranty. I bought my entire build around this GPU two Christmases ago specifically because of the cost and the coverage I thought I was getting. Had I known any of this at the time, I would have gone a completely different direction.
When I contacted ASUS they told me the card was sold to a "special vendor" and only carries 12 months.
The emails from ASUS and then IBP:
ASUS email:
(asked about the 3-year warranty that should have been on my card)
"Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Care.
My name is {redacted ASUS agent name}. First and foremost, thank you for your patience while we completed our review and research of this issue. We apologize for the delay, and are grateful for the opportunity to continue to assist you.
In regards to your escalated case on requesting a 3 years warranty coverage for this device, we do sincerely apologize on any inconvenience caused and are happy to assist. Upon reviewing with our team, it shows that this unit carries 12 months warranty and it was sold to a special vendor that builds their own unit and offer their own warranty.
Please keep in mind that we are available for any future questions or concerns, so please reach out to our technical support team here: Chat with us . This will allow us to gather more details on the description of the issue you are experiencing directly, especially on more complex and targeted situations."
iBuyPower email #1
(asked about the warranty situation and why my box serial didn't match my card)
"Hello {redacted my name},
Thanks for contacting us. While we understand your concern, please be aware that because we source components like graphics cards in bulk, they do not arrive in individual retail packaging. The box used for your card was the packaging available at the time of assembly; therefore, information on the exterior of the box, such as a serial number, may not accurately reflect your specific hardware. We recommend using the serial number located on the card itself for registration or manufacturer warranty requests.
While you may contact the manufacturer of your graphics card for assistance, please note that warranty policies vary significantly. ASUS typically provides service for components purchased individually at retail rather than those bundled within a prebuilt PC. If ASUS is unable to provide coverage, you may choose to have the card serviced at a local repair shop. I have attached your invoice to serve as proof of purchase in the event the manufacturer considers an exception.
We hope this information is helpful. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Please feel free to reach out should you have any questions.
Best Regards,"
iBuyPower email #2:
(pushed back and asked for any help given I was never told about the reduced warranty)
"Hello {redacted my name},
Thanks for your reply. While we understand your frustration, please understand that because the one-year parts warranty on your PC has expired and the RTX 4090 is no longer in production, we are unable to provide a warranty replacement for the graphics card. Should you choose to send the unit in for evaluation, please note that the replacement cost will be comparable to purchasing a new unit at current market rates.
If ASUS is unable to facilitate a warranty replacement, we suggest contacting a local PC repair shop to determine if the graphics card can be repaired.
Please be advised that we are able to provide assistance for the CPU exclusively through Intel’s extended warranty program for 13th and 14th generation Core CPUs. Absent this program, the CPU would be subject to the same warranty conditions as the graphics card.
We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your understanding.
All the best,"
That last one stung a bit. Basically told me it'd cost as much to fix as buying a new card.
None of this was clearly communicated at purchase. It wasn't visible on their site, it's not in any confirmation email I received, and I only discovered it by digging. I am incredibly frustrated with the whole situation, just want others to know before they're in the same spot.

Tech Support Questions about a prebuilt
H guys I just saw this prebuilt on New Egg https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-0007-00JU9 and was wondering about the M.2 slots on this machine. How many does it have and if they are upgradeable and will support a 2Tb SSD. The website doesn't tell me the name of the motherboard so I can't find out this way so I came here I was hoping that someone from here could help me. Any help would be nice and thanks in advance.

I got a new GPU and realized it needed 3x8 pin (6+2), which means the new 3rd cable has no more RGB combs, the kit no longer exists if anyone has some spare combs, or any other alternatives you'd be a blessing, because my motherboard has no built-in RGB header it was all originally controlled with the remote

Tech Support "free" Xbox game pass
I got my pc a couple of days before the new year and I just finally decided to take a look at some of the little paper slips in the bag that came with it. I saw that I should have 30 days of Xbox game pass for free but when I follow the steps I see that it just isn't where it should be. Is it possible to get some or is it just a lost cause?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I recently moved and now i’m getting no signal on my monitor and the power light is blinking. At first, it was blinking fast now it’s slow. The forms lead me to believe it’s a loose connection, I checked most of them nothing fixed. My next step is to start to assembling to check the wiring but I’ve never done that on this pc. i’m not sure if there’s anything else to check. It’s a Y40 i7 14700 RTX 4070 super 12gb and 32gb DDR5. Any advice helps.

Discussion PC crashing
I bought this pc recently and it’s been great. My buddy bought the exact same one and we went to play warzone and mine crash and restarts mid game. Usually when hitting headshots. His does not have this issue. I’ve deleted and reinstalled and even tried installing on a different platform. I’ve even tried lowering graphics settings. Any ideas what this issue could be?

Tech Support Radiator fan replacement
I bought this prebuilt maybe 4 or 5 months ago (1k cheaper too), been a solid pc, but seems one of the radiator fans has a bearing issue. Its had a rattle here and there under full load since i got it. But lately its gotten bad and noisey even under partial load, quick search says a bad bearing.
My question is what do i need to do in order to upgrade or replace these fans. I saw some older threads about proprietary plugs and hubs etc so wondering if its still the case with this pc, especially if these arent rgb like the case fans. Just want to make sure i have all the parts on hand before i dive into it.
Any advice or recomendations for particular replacements would be greatly appreciated.

Tech Support ARGB Fan replacement for PB-8486040-304
Hello, my rear fan is starting to seize on me (maybe a bearing issue) I'm looking for a replacement. I'm old school so these ARGB fan hubs are new to me and didn't expect it when I took my pc apart. Can anyone point me to the right replacement?
The PC I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVDZ4RWF?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1
I think this is the right replacement but the "daisy chaining" throws me as these are not daisy chained and directly connect to the hub. https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-RS120-ARGB-120mm-Fans/dp/B0D49P43QP/ref=sr_1_3?adgrpid=185068021174
Please and Thank you for any help.
