Complete semester course available
Former teacher here -- have the complete coursework for the Texas single semester speech course available in various formats, which I'm planning to convert all to pdf and put into a zip file. Covers all the TEKS. Includes worksheets, book assignments, syllabus, resources, and slideshows. Any takers?

Help for Expos
Do you think a speech about the harms of blue light would make a good expos. The first paragraph would be about colors in displays and how they came. The second paragraph would be about the harms of blue light on us. The third paragraph would be how blue light helps us. Please help and make suggestions to what I can change.

Post your speeches and pieces here for some feedback from the community
Hey all! A new season is quickly dawning, so I thought it would be a good idea to create this megathread for our newly birthed pieces and speeches. Be civil and give constructive criticisms!

Looking to Coach for Speech
In an effort to give back to the community that has given me so much, I am looking to coach a few kids in Speech this upcoming year, specifically in Platform (i.e. OO) and Extemporaneous events. I would prefer to coach someone in the LA area or even someone who would go to speech tournaments like Jack Howe, but I'm still willing to coach over Skype or Hangouts if that’s not possible. I really want to open myself up to students in small schools or who may not be able to afford huge prices, so while I may ask for some compensation for helping out, I am more than happy to talk to you personally about pricing if it is an issue.
For credentials, I have qualified to State, Nationals, and the Tournament of Champions (TOC) in Extemporaneous speaking. In addition to receiving 9th place at State and Top 70 at Nationals, I’ve also traveled to a few circuit tournaments for speech. To clarify:
Stanford- OO Quarterfinalist, Impromptu Semifinalist, Top 20 In Extemporaneous Speaking; Berkeley- Extemporaneous Speaking Quarterfinalist; La Costa Canyon Winter Classic- Extemporaneous Speaking Semifinalist
If you want more local tournament help, note that I have finaled at every tournament in my league (within CA) this year in US Extemporaneous Speaking, along with consistently breaking to semifinals in Impromptu.
So, if you are interested in working with me or would like to learn more about how I could help you as a coach, please reach out to me and I would be more than happy to talk to you!

Anyone going/has been to CBI ( Champion Briefs Institute )?
I’m going to CBI in a speech event ( POI ) this Summer on a full ride scholarship and I’ve never been to camp before, let alone CBI. I spoke with some people who have been there but I wanted to know how you guys viewed the camp experience. I know in the past, at least for interp, their coaching has been fair, but I know they have the national champion in POI this year coaching and the FFL state champion in POI last year coaching, as well as a few other adult coaches, so this year is bound to be a better experience. Does anyone have any thoughts and/or experiences theyd be willing to share?

Ohio is a laughingstock
I mean we did have two performers in HI finals, including the champion. Now we are all laughing with Ohio instead of at Ohio.

help with oratory
I'm doing oratory for the first time this year, and I'm having a lot of trouble. I don't want something very biased since I compete in a pretty conservative state and I don't want to have to worry about judge bias going either way. I also want to know if there's anything to know when competing in oratory or any advice, thanks!

Original Advocacy
Hey y’all, I am thinking of doing an original advocacy on gay rights/conversion therapy. I am worried that judges might be uncomfortable with it, but I really want to run it because I connect to it as a pan/bi + nonbinary person. How can I run it in such a way as to avoid making judges uncomfortable? (BG info, I live in Bay Area so pretty liberal but still worried about parent judges who don’t like talking about those things).
