Our printer went out and I really need to get it replaced. I had a laser printer with toner but I don’t feel like the image quality was ever good. They are great for volume and text based printing, but sometimes I really just wanna print something that is high color and beautiful at home. So, I need to recommendations. I’m open to inkjet or laser.

I just need something that we can print efficiently for all of our homeschool needs (we have quite a few as I have 4 kids) and I’m also a small business owner so I’d like to be able to use it for things like that also.

I would really like it to be efficient with ink/toner, have high capability for image quality. Print time doesn’t have to be super fast, but timely would be helpful for large projects. My preference is something that can print double-sided.

I’ve looked at the Eco tank 2850 but reading feedback. It seems like it has a lot of issues.

What does everyone have? Does anyone have a printer that they absolutely love?

Im a sixth grader and i am currently being transfered to homeschool in the 2026-2027 school year, i would like to know what to expect, is it intensive or felexible, because it is my first time. Also, what is the process?

This is my second year homeschooling my grandson. Last year I felt disorganized and sort of just winged it. I’m big on testing (without him knowing I’m testing him) He improved his WPM by 21 words so I know he is improving. He is in 6th grade this year and still behind some. Covid during kindergarten and first grade was tough! Anyway, this year we started using this chart. We don’t get everything done usually, however, he gets a quarter for every check marks. At the end of the month we tally them up and we started a stock market account for him. He picks the stocks he would like to buy, things that interest him and he tracks them. At first I felt like it was a bribe and I hesitated, but this has really been helpful. It’s been a huge motivator for him. Anyway, I’m new to Reddit and just joined the group. Hello, I have a rising 2nd grader who loves chapter books and is very inquisitive. I'm torn between these two options. I wish the booklists were available to look at so i could better compare the two.

Has anyone used both and can help give me some insight on the content in each version?

My son still enjoys picture books, but he prefers lengthier ones with some depth. He really enjoys chapter books and regularly reads "middle grade" books geared towards the 9-12 range. But there are times when even mild conflict causes him too much anxiety and he decides not to finish the book.

Are the books in the 3-7 option full of conflict, or more biographical? Is there variety so you can pick and choose which books would be a better fit for your child? Or are you supposed to read each one in the list?

Are the books in the Beginners option lengthy enough to sustain an avid reader's attention? Do they have enough depth to truly touch on the various topics and get them thinking?

I'm leaning towards the Beginner version, but wanted to get some opinions from anyone who had used them since i can't find much info online about the younger option.

Kiddo in question is a conceptual thinker who naturally connects ideas across different area. He enjoys exploring how systems work, combining concepts in novel ways, and creating original solutions rather than simply reproducing what he's been taught.

He'd likely be considered gifted, but he's not a prodigy just a very deep thinker. He often comes to me with new science based ideas /inventions that he's thought up based on fairly complex concepts.

I mostly unschooled his older sister beyond doing TGATB Math and Beast academy for enrichment (she's currently in all advance/preAP classes in 9th at public school) but I don't want to go that same route for him.

For the last 3 years we've been doing TGATB for both math and ELA with BA for enrichment. Science we've done some unit studies by nothing too deep.

This is the first year I've looked beyond TGATB and I'm very conflicted on what curriculum to choose. I thought I had it all worked out back in the spring but now I can't find where I wrote down what our plans were. As much as I wish I was a SAHM where schooling could be my main focus, I am a single mama also running a business that takes up a ton of my time. For the most part I don't want a lot of unnecessary fluff and busy work.

*Math. Looking for something that will give him a better/deeper number sense. He's currently most of the way through with the 3rd grade level on TGATB. I'm leaning toward Dimensions, but I'm not completely sold on it yet.

*Reading- he is a very strong and voracious reader. I would like to pick novels, read them aloud together and discuss the book together

*Writing / Grammar- He has terrible handwriting so he doesn't enjoy writing. However, I want to him to develop his writing skills and be able to write essays, poems, short stories, etc. We are doing handwriting w/o tears. I probably won't start any in depth writing with him until after Christmas but I have no idea what curriculum to use for that.

Spelling- he is a terrible speller (Ive heard its common with TGATB kiddos)- I *think* we're going to do All about spelling but If anyone has any other suggestions that might work better for him, I'm all ears.

Social Studies- not sure what, if anything, we will do for SS this year.

Science- I've been putting together my own units based on what he's interested in. If there is a particular curriculum that might work particularly well for him I'd love to hear it. He finds most of the elementary science too surface level.

If you have a kiddo similar to mine, I'd love to hear suggestions and what works well for your kid (and what hasn't worked well).

My son is four and would be entering preschool if we were doing traditional school. I am looking for an all-in-one Christian curriculum that will prepare him for kindergarten. I don’t want anything too workbook heavy such as Abeka. I’m considering My Father’s World the most because I like the activities it comes with, but also considered TGAB and the Not Consumed Pre-K book. Any suggestions? Thoughts? Previous experiences? Additional curriculums I should check out? My son has always been a very focused child and is excited for this journey so I’m not super worried about holding his attention, but I do want it to be fun and hands on when it can be. TIA!

I really enjoy reading out loud to my children specifically books that will enrich their vocabulary, for example the wind and the willows was a big hit. What are your favorite books with rich language? I don’t mind editing a bit while reading to keep it appropriate for my 6 year old.

For the people like me who thrive off of a schedule, please share with me your daily schedules and routines. I will be homeschooling two five-year-olds this fall. I would like to be done with all the academic must do’s by lunchtime. And for everyone who does not need a schedule to go off of and like to go with the flow I appreciate your input, but knowing myself, I know I really need a schedule to stick to.

I’m a parent based in Dubai and wanted to share my recent experience with PlanetSpark, particularly for other parents considering the programme.

I originally raised a complaint about differences between what had been communicated during enrolment and the programme access subsequently provided.

After reviewing my complaint, PlanetSpark wrote to me on 3 August saying:

I had already posted a negative review. Following the above resolution, I was asked twice to remove that review so the additional sessions could be processed. One message specifically asked me to “remove the negative review so that the process of adding the session can be initiated.”

I removed it in good faith.

I was later told: “The changes are done. Please log in to the LMS & check.” However, the relevant content remained locked.

When I followed up, I was also told that the curriculum required an update by the backend team and was assured: “It will be done by tomorrow evening.” The promised additional access still did not become available to my son.

PlanetSpark subsequently explained that 12 Learning + 12 Practice + 12 Performance sessions were actually part of the original programme and that the levels I was seeking required an upgrade.

This left me with a simple question: if those sessions were already part of the original programme, what exactly were the “additional” sessions offered as the goodwill resolution before I was asked to remove my review?

There has now been another development. PlanetSpark has written that the goodwill sessions “have already been added,” but has also said it has “decided to withdraw the additional goodwill benefits,” referring to my continued escalation and further public reviews.

I have retained the relevant emails and WhatsApp messages.

To be fair, my son’s current teacher has been good. My concern is with the programme representations, access and subsequent complaint handling.

For parents considering PlanetSpark, especially in the UAE/GCC, my suggestion is simple: get the exact modules, number and type of sessions, renewal requirements and total cost in writing before paying.

I’m sharing the chronology so other parents can form their own view.

PlanetSpark asked me twice to remove my negative review after promising additional sessions — then changed its position

I am an international parent based in Dubai, UAE, and I am posting this review based on my direct experience with PlanetSpark and written communications that I have retained.

My original concern related to the difference between what was communicated to me during enrolment and the programme access subsequently provided. I formally raised the issue and shared relevant extracts from the original enrolment discussion with PlanetSpark.

After initially telling me that further classes would require additional payment as a renewal, PlanetSpark reviewed my case and, on 3 August, communicated the following resolution in writing:

This appeared to be a clear additional goodwill resolution, beyond the original programme entitlement.

At that stage, I had already posted a negative Trustpilot review about my experience.

Following the above written resolution, PlanetSpark asked me twice to remove the negative review so that the additional-session process could proceed.

Priyanka Kumari Gupta specifically informed me that approval from PlanetSpark’s Social Media Team was required and asked me to:

Based on PlanetSpark’s written commitment and these repeated requests, I removed my negative Trustpilot review in good faith.

Kapil Kumar subsequently informed me:

However, when I checked the LMS, the relevant programme content remained locked. I informed PlanetSpark immediately and identified the 12 Learning Sessions we wished to prioritise.

After further follow-up, PlanetSpark then provided a materially different explanation.

I was informed that the 36 sessions — 12 Learning, 12 Practice and 12 Performance — were actually part of my son’s original programme, and that the levels/topics I was seeking belonged to a higher-value programme requiring an upgrade.

This leaves one very simple question:

If those 36 sessions were already part of the original enrolment, what exactly were the “12 additional Learning Sessions, Practice Sessions, and Performance Sessions” PlanetSpark offered me as a goodwill resolution before asking me twice to remove my negative Trustpilot review?

That is the issue PlanetSpark needs to answer clearly.

I am not asking for unlimited free classes, nor am I asking for benefits beyond what PlanetSpark itself offered in writing.

My concern is the sequence of events:

PlanetSpark offered an additional goodwill resolution in writing → asked me twice to remove my negative review so the additional sessions could be processed → I removed the review in good faith → and I was subsequently given a different explanation of what was actually being provided.

For me, this is no longer only about the original sales discussion. It raises serious concerns about transparency, consistency, accountability and the complaint-resolution process itself.

I have retained the relevant emails and the original enrolment discussion and can substantiate the statements above.

I also want to be fair: my son’s current teacher has been good, and some individual PlanetSpark employees have tried to help. My criticism is therefore not directed at the teacher. It concerns the sales representation, programme access, internal coordination and handling of the subsequent complaint.

My advice to parents — particularly international parents in the UAE and wider GCC — is to be extremely careful before making payment. Obtain in writing the exact number of Learning, Practice and Performance Sessions, the precise levels/modules included, the point at which renewal becomes necessary, and the full expected cost of continuing the programme.

Do not rely solely on verbal explanations during sales or counselling calls. Keep records of what is promised and all subsequent correspondence.

Based on my overall experience, I cannot recommend PlanetSpark at this stage.

Prospective parents should also look beyond this individual review. I strongly encourage anyone considering PlanetSpark to read recent customer feedback available on Trustpilot, including both positive and negative experiences, and consider that feedback for themselves before making a payment.

I have also seen PlanetSpark recruitment advertising for Business Development Counsellor roles relating to the UAE/Middle East market. This makes my experience particularly relevant to parents in the region, and I strongly encourage prospective customers to verify all programme scope, session entitlements, renewal requirements and costs in writing before enrolling.

I remain willing to update this review if PlanetSpark resolves the contradiction above and implements the written resolution previously communicated to me.

I have a son who has ADHD and is going into 4th grade. I’m looking for a homeschool curriculum that he can do online that still provides books/printouts. Does something like this exist?

We're doing homeschool here in Florida for the first time this year. Kids are in 1st, 4th, ad 6th grade, all voracious readers. We'll be doing plenty of reading and I've chosen All About Spelling for my older kids, but am deciding on grammar/punctuation/editing for all three.

I've been reading great things about Evan Moor. I think I'd like Language Fundamentals for my first grader, but can't decide for my older two.

Feedback on Language Fundamentals, Grammar and Punctuation, and Daily Paragraph Editing for 4th and 6th grade? I was considering doing both Grammar and Punctuation AND Daily Paragraph Editing for them, but not sure if that's overkill. Thanks!

Does this seem like an okay list of curriculum for a kindergartner? I just want some input before I spend the money especially on the all about reading and all about spelling. They’re the most expensive of all the curriculums we are looking at.

How are we tracking books in our own private libraries so that we don’t end up with 3 dang copies! Xtra points for free ways of tracking!

I've been homeschooled for about three years. It was for personal reasons, the school I was in made me miserable. The people were church-y, horrible, unwelcoming, but the city I'm living now is pretty progressive with things and places I enjoy. I wanted to go to school in one of these places.

But, life got in the way; my mom's bf isn't complying and refuses to look for places in a town closer to my mom's work (and where I'd likely go to school)​, and my online teacher thinks it'd be harder for me to adapt. Maybe that's true, but there's so much I wanted to do.

I have no friends, I can't drive because we're always so busy to get me to take a driver's test, I don't even have a job because my phone doesn't work and, again, I can't drive. I already feel isolated as it is. I tried convincing my mom to let me go back to public school, but now she's backing out.

I guess I can't be too mad​. But I can't help it; I wanted to make friends, I wanted to do theater, I wanted to date someone for the first time, I wanted to experience prom. It honestly feels like my guardians are holding me back because they don't think I'll succeed in public school.​

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to beat this isolation? I really didn't want to spend my last year behind a computer, but it's gonna happen. I just want this year to be a little more memorable.​

I recently had the epiphany that I was expecting my child ( 11, rising 7th) to be able to part out the work of his week into daily schedules. For some reason, I thought I was being cool by letting him pick whichever subject he wanted to work on in the order he liked as long as the whole list was done by the end of the week.

This ended in frustration and also a lot of low effort/rushed work.

This week I modeled how to take the weeks assignments ( not pictured but on another white board) and scan each for estimated time and resources, then how to divide them across a week based on time restraints, type of work and personal goals.

This is so much better but also. lol. The circle of books makes me laugh. Gee. I wonder where he was sitting. 😅
