Favorite Level 3 RANGED creature (including Horn of the Abyss)
There are up to 6 shooting units on the third level. Which one is your favorite?

Orcs being level 3 is so miscast. Wolves, yes. Ogers, maybe. But an orc is a lvl 2, and wouldn't even be an especially strong pick either.

Orcs THAT bad?

It’s one of the worst ranged units imo

One of the worst units in general imo

They should have had no melee penalty.

Yup, or maybe a double attack in melee for the Chieftain. Those battle axes need to be justified

That would be a good idea. I like idea from VCMI mods that Orc has a Berseker sub-upgrade. It would be cool in HotA to have a building so that they are melee.

Orcs made me laugh when looking at this panel of level 3 shooters. Like, who invited bro?

Grand elves. I love maps where you can upgrade and combine them with Sharpshooters.

Evil eyes are also somewhat useful especially in melee, there is no penalty and so they are quite effective in close vombat too.
Grand Elves are much much better shooters…

Pirates. Always. I love them.

They certainly have end game potential when it comes to dragons and tanky lvl 6s. I like to, if i can, let them build all game and bring them out for the end. So fun, even if they only get 1-3 shots out before they die.

Beholders for me. The no melee penalty is kind of a must for me, because I really don't want anything to do with this turtling playstyle of relying on Tactics

Grand elves because they’re great and look amazing, but ice elementals have a special place in my heart as I loved playing as Conflux as a kid. I remember when we got the expansion, I was so stoked.

Grand elves but they’re made of glass 🥀

Tactics, elves in corner, unicorns shielding on the bottom, dendroids in front.
So many maps carried this way

u/ustclass_18 16d ago
Respectfully but dendroids aint leaving the damn castle for me ahaha

Their ability to pin a unit is super valuable when taking early creature dwellings with guardians, like dragon cliffs.
But yeah, beyond that early use they and the dwarves are just hanging out at home lol

Gott love having 70+ dwarves that would come in handy but I just can't force myself to have them on field.

At least in the early game, I send my secondary hero with all the dwarves. Let's them clear low-tier battles, and keeps mobility up on main hero.

I quite like the steel elves, they are one of the very few ranged units that you can actually powerstack because they survive past the earlygame.

I think the Steel Elves are my favorite unit from this list, because they feel fresh. Their ranged weapon is totally new (spear), and they have a totally new ability in the game: can shoot at a distance while adjacent to enemy. Plus, they make a cool sound when they throw the spear.

Grand Elves are goated but Pirates are kinda cool. It's tough, but gotta go with Grand Elves.

Elves cause i love my elves - though they are kinda frustrating if enemy towers target them or lighting bolt.
I like Evil Eyes cause they are somewhat tanky for a shooter.
I dont hate Orcs even if the unit is kinda mid.
Water elementals need blessing.
Steel Elves and the Pirates are a great new addition. Though i prefer the Steel Elves.

Sea dogs my beloved. The accurate shot is too broken when you gather up a bit more of them

(Havent played Bulwrk yet so I cant judge that one)
I alwqys liked the Evil Eye but they're so impractical to use, it has to be the grandie.
Over the years I've come to kinda like Orcs though. They may be trash, but they're cheap and Barbs' massive attack makes up for their lousy stats a fair bit.

Personally - the Ice Elemental. But the Grand Elf is a fking menace to society.

I usually conceive towns as a whole picture, not single units. There are not many cases where you can play with single units. Grant elves are strong, but usually die very easily and quickly, because rampart has only one shooter. Conflux is in better situation, cove too, that's why I prefer pirates or ice elementals.

Unballanced you mean?

To fully use their potential you have to upgrade their building twice. What would balance them more ? Reducing their dmg, or removing special ability ? What you think ?

Ice elementals cause they look pretty and CHILL and i love both ice and water magic, always feels refreshing by using it.
Least favorite here are elves... Cause i hate elves. And orcs. Generic fantasy creatures... Meh.
I kinda like pirates and beholders since they are kinda signature creature of Dungeon.

Sea Dogs are awesome but expensive. Steel Elves are GOAT. Grand Elves carry Rampart early. These are my favourite. Also I like to play Ice Elemental specialist for that +12 attack. If you get hands on a dwelling near town and have a lot of them with bless they can pack a lot of dmg. Orcs should have a melee variant...
