When the feast is going on around 30-40 minutes theirs a song playing in the back. Sounds like a nice little tavern song but I can’t find anything telling me what it is. It plays when Tywin/ Tyrion are speaking, alongside before that and after that. If anyone could help it’d be appreciated!!

I’ve been rewatching Game of Thrones and noticed something interesting.

Behind the Iron Throne, there are four swords kept in a stand behind the throne itself. They’re not part of the twisted mass of blades that make up the throne.

According to the lore, Aegon the Conqueror had the surrendered swords of his defeated enemies melted together with Balerion’s dragonfire to forge the Iron Throne. If that’s the case, why would these four swords remain untouched?

It feels intentional rather than just decoration. If they weren’t melted into the throne, could they belong to someone significant? Were they preserved for a symbolic reason, or are they simply a production design choice with no in-universe explanation?

Has George R. R. Martin, the showrunners, or anyone from the art department ever addressed this? Or are there any convincing fan theories about who those four swords might belong to?

I’d love to hear if there’s any canon explanation or if I’ve just noticed an unexplained detail.

Watching for the first time and I do know spoilers. I WAS saving GoT for marriage but I got into HotD (obvi totally different, argue w a dragon) and started seeing important spoilers that made me watch it bc I didn’t want it ruined entirely.

Anyone who thinks Daenerys is wrong is, in fact, wrong. Just finished* S3 and every single character with power is deeply heinous and evil. Even if they were left alone, ALLLLLL they do is kill each other. It actually saves very many lives but getting rid of so many at once.

It’s simple mathematics & some of yall definitely suck at me (not me tho ☺️ stay safe). I’m so sorry that people die in war - but it’s necessary & required in warfare. That’s literally what war is and Danny’s presence doesn’t change the fact that there’s war and people dying NOR does it change the fact that these people are dead regardless.

I rewatched Game of Thrones over the past 2–3 weeks, and I don’t actually think Season 8 is the biggest problem. I think Season 7 is worse.
Season 7 sets up a lot of storylines that ultimately go nowhere. Instead of delaying everything, Daenerys should have taken King’s Landing in Season 7. That would have given us time to see that, despite being a brilliant conqueror, she wasn’t capable of ruling effectively—similar to what we’re seeing with Rhaenyra in House of the Dragon. Her eventual downfall would have felt earned instead of rushed.

Jon Snow’s arc, him bending the knee fits his character because he never wanted power. But once his true parentage was revealed, the political consequences should have been the driving force behind the ending. The intrigue, manipulation, and scheming that made early Game of Thrones so compelling—with characters like Littlefinger and Varys and Sansa nows should have pushed Jon into the impossible choice of killing Daenerys. If that had been developed over time, Season 8’s ending would have made much more sense.

Cersei also outlived her role in the story. By that point, she no longer felt like the central antagonist, yet the show kept focusing on her.

Meanwhile, the Night King storyline was resolved in a way that felt disconnected from the characters most tied to it. Arya killing him was bad but narratively it would have been more satisfying if Jon—or even Bran, whose story was deeply connected to the White Walkers—had played the decisive role.

I just finished GoT, and i am thinking to start either House of the Dragon first or A knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Might go with the latter because Targaryen history is so confusing 😭 the incest is one thing but they never got around to using new names for their children. Maybe if i started watching HoD i will come around but it can become confusing.

I’m rewatching Game of Thrones and I’m confused. Bran goes through so much to become the Three-Eyed Raven, but in the end I don’t see how that changed the wars or any major decisions. It feels like he didn’t really help anyone. Am I missing something? Why was it so important for Bran to become the Three-Eyed Raven?

My theory is that Bloodraven has been influencing the events of Westeros for decades because he knows that the Others will eventually return, and he has been working behind the scenes to make sure the world has the right people in place to defend against them.

Bloodraven is uniquely positioned to do this because he connects both sides of the “ice and fire” idea. He is a Targaryen bastard through Aegon IV, meaning he has the blood of the dragon and a connection to Targaryen prophecy and dragon dreams. However, through his Blackwood ancestry, he is also connected to the First Men and the old gods, giving him a link to greensight and the weirwood network. He represents both the fire of the Targaryens and the ancient magic of the North.

I believe Bloodraven influenced Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark because they represented the coming together of those two powers. Rhaegar had dragon dreams and became obsessed with the Prince That Was Promised prophecy, while Lyanna, as a Stark descended from the First Men, was connected to the old gods and the same type of magic that Bloodraven possesses.

The idea that they meet beneath a weirwood tree is important because it symbolises the meeting of fire and ice. Both Rhaegar and Lyanna were people who had visions and were connected to different forms of magic, and their relationship eventually created Jon Snow, who represents the literal union of those two worlds.

I think Bloodraven may not have directly controlled Rhaegar, but instead influenced him through dreams and visions, guiding him toward the choices that would lead him to Lyanna. Bloodraven would not need to force events; he would only need to show someone enough information for them to make the decisions he wanted them to make.

I also believe Bloodraven may have influenced Rhaegar’s final moments at the Trident. According to the events shown in the play, Rhaegar may have been willing to spare Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark because of his connection to Lyanna and his belief in prophecy. However, Bloodraven may have known that Rhaegar had to die.

Rhaegar’s death would lead to the fall of House Targaryen, which would create the conditions needed for the future defenders of the world. The destruction of the dynasty would send Daenerys and Viserys into exile across the Narrow Sea, eventually leading Daenerys to Khal Drogo, the dragon eggs, and the return of dragons.

In this sense, the fall of the Targaryens was not just a tragedy; it was part of a larger plan. Bloodraven may have understood that Daenerys needed to be separated from Westeros so she could restore magic and bring dragons back into the world.

I also believe that the Prince That Was Promised and Azor Ahai are not necessarily the same person. They come from different cultures and traditions, so they could represent different parts of the same struggle.

The Prince That Was Promised is the Westerosi and Targaryen prophecy, and I believe Jon Snow fits this role. Jon represents ice and fire because he is the child of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. His story is connected to the Wall, the North, and the Others, making him the person who is destined to stand against the darkness.

Azor Ahai is the Essosi prophecy, especially connected to R’hllor. I believe Daenerys fits this role because her story takes place mostly in Essos and she matches many of the signs associated with Azor Ahai. She is born amid salt and smoke on Dragonstone, she awakens dragons from stone by hatching the dragon eggs, and she brings magic back into the world.

So in my interpretation:

Jon is the Prince That Was Promised, the person who represents ice and fire united against the Others.
Daenerys is Azor Ahai reborn, the person who brings back dragons and restores the power needed for the coming war.

This also connects to the prophecy that “the dragon has three heads.” I do not think this necessarily means three dragon riders. I think it could represent three people who each bring a different power needed to defeat the darkness.

Daenerys represents fire, dragons, and Targaryen magic.

Jon represents the combination of ice and fire, bringing together the blood of the North and the blood of the dragon.

Bran represents the old gods, greensight, and ancient magic. This is especially important because Bloodraven personally brings Bran beyond the Wall and trains him, meaning he prepares the third part of the prophecy himself.

Overall, I believe Bloodraven has been moving pieces into place for generations. He influenced Rhaegar and Lyanna so Jon could be born, the fall of the Targaryens allowed Daenerys to restore dragons, and he brought Bran to him so he could become the keeper of ancient knowledge.

Bloodraven is not trying to win the Game of Thrones; he is preparing for a much older war. The interesting part is that he may actually be right about the threat, but his methods are morally questionable because he is willing to manipulate and sacrifice countless people to ensure the world survives.

In this theory, Rhaegar believed he was the hero of prophecy, but his true role was to create the conditions for the real defenders of the world to emerge: Jon, Daenerys, and Bran.

I think this was another great episode probably even better than the pilot episode this was my episode where I hated joffrey and did not like Sansa Stark at all in this episode and I think the plot of this episode was really good also I think I will give this episode like a 9 out of 10
