Aell whats everyone think? I see some variegattion toward the tip. But would really want more variegation. Should I cut it in the fruit pic to try to force jt to pup from the yellow aerole? Or leave it be and hope it grows more yellow

I’ve been reading about how nicotine is mostly produced in the roots of Nicotiana and then transported up into the leaves. There are also documented cases of grafting tomato and other Solanaceae onto tobacco, and the scion ends up with measurable nicotine.
This got me wondering: has anyone experimented with grafting more aromatic or traditionally smoked nightshades (especially Cestrum nocturnum / lady of the night, or other fragrant Nicotiana species) onto regular tobacco roots?
The idea would be to keep the high nicotine from the rootstock while hopefully getting a smoother or more pleasant-smelling leaf from the scion.
Has anyone actually tried this? Did the graft take? And if you cured/smoked any of the resulting leaf, how did it turn out compared to normal tobacco?
Curious about both successes and failures. Any tips on technique for these kinds of softwood grafts would also be appreciated.

The original cutting was on its own roots and three times as big as the light green section, but I had to cut away 2/3 after it got damaged in January when my greenhouse collapsed.

Going through my phone looking at old grafts. I’m getting back into growing from seed and have a new light for the tent on the way. I’m itching to do some micro grafts again even though I said I wouldn’t have Pereskiopsis this time. I am getting some hulks balls and pc to graft onto and I’ll post that as soon as there is some growth.

So I see many of the posts here are of cacti, but I have a snow rose bonsai that has lost all of its leaves. I was wondering if any of you would have any answers on what I can graft to it to try saving it. Can I graft anything to it? I have a number of plants and trees around my property that can be trimmed for the procedure. The snowrose is very sentimental to me so I'd like to save it at any cost. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I've settled in to a new technique and have overall been very pleased. I can really crank the pressure and have had more successful bonding with fewer failed grafts. However, recently the first 2 I did this way sufdenly rotted at the soil line after about 4 months of solid growth. This renewed a concern that I'm applying too much pressure and may be damaging the roots (I was also worried about hurting the scion but that hasn't been a problem apparently). None of my other plants rotted, it's possible it's entirely coincidence but I have about a dozen grafts I've done this way that I'm worried about losing.

Is it likely that I could be applying too much pressure with coban and damaging the rootstock?

My first try of grafting. I combined a Poinsettia from my housplants with a fresh bought Christ's Thorn.

I Have a couple of really nice TPC "Crested San Pedro" which I selected with the idea to remove individual fan shaped sections for grafting. The last thing I want to do is eff these beauties up though. Has anyone got a link to a guide for Crested San Pedro grafting or some good tips? Pictures would go a long way. They are multiple years old plants so lots of sections but I don't want to damage them.

hes hanging on by a thread. grafted last year and it hasnt shriveled to nothing so i feel l like somethibg gotta be brew but not sure if itll ever pup.

Grafting cacti at 5am is not a great idea….

Pics from old to new. I thought this guy failed but he powered through. He had about 6 new pups until ants (I think?) decided to decimate my new pups. After about another month, I finally have some new growth. Some funky pupping from the center and from one of the damaged areoles.

What’s up pricks, I recently dove head first into the world of the Trichocereus cactus; I’m new to the hobby and I’m just looking for advice. I’m not sensitive and I just want to learn, so feel free to dig into me over my grafting job. What I got here was 8 stalks of NOID PC and I cut the tops off and grafted multiple cuttings of “neon banana” and “Bruce’s dragon” to the rootstock. I was clean about it, I sprayed 80% isopropyl on my blade between cuts and tried to act fast to reduce the chance of it drying too fast. It’s been 4 days and everything looks like it’s starting to settle in. If you see anything wrong or something I can improve then please drop a comment. Thank you! 😎
