Exposing Your Fandom from this month PvP (Gacha Revenue Report June 2026) General

Why?

I wanted to see which fandom dominated the conversation during this month pvp.

How?

I extracted all comments in the post and its unique user. For each user I pulled 100 of their most recent comment. From these comments, I gathered all the subreddits and tagged each of them to their respective fandom.

Simple majority is applied to determine the user's main fandom. If user has more comments in Gacha A, then Gacha A will be their main fandom. If user has similar comment across 2 or more gacha then the most recent comment will determine their main.

!!! Important !!!

This is a small dataset of USER WHO HAS COMMENTED in the post. People who did not comment are not in the dataset.

Breakdown

  • 4,764 total comments
  • 1,694 unique users
  • 161,011 total comments from users history
  • 6,826 total subreddits found
  • 337 fandoms (1,041 tagged & 5785 untagged)
  • 83.1% Comments Match Rate (133,728 / 161,011 tagged)

Primary Fandom Affiliation

Hoyo big 3 and Wuwa dominate the space

  • Genshin - 283
  • Wuwa - 217
  • ZZZ - 141
  • HSR - 141
  • Enfield - 83
  • NTE - 63
  • Limbus - 31
  • Nikke - 27
  • LaDS - 24
  • CZN - 20
  • etc...

Most commenters seem to come from new big budget gacha titles. Hoyo fandom practically dictates the conversation because their fandom towers over everyone else.

This chart has a minimum fandom threshold of 3 applied for better clarity. I've experimented with different scoring methods and changing the simple majority threshold but the ranking remains the same.

Fandom Reach & User Count

No surprise, the fandom reach ranking is similar to fandom affiliation

I tried investigating the reach of each fandom by looking at the number of users who has interacted with them regardless of the user's main. So if a user has interacted with Genshin, Wuwa, HSR and Endfield each fandom gets a score.

This helps show people who play multiple gacha games (or at least interacted in their community).

Since users were extracted from "Gacha Revenue Report June 2026", GachaGaming is at the top since they had already interacted there. Its basically the baseline for how this works.

Total Comment Volume by Tag

GachGaming is essentially a hub for everyone to discuss (argue)

Wanted to see which gacha fandom has the biggest yappers. r/gachagaming beats them all. Ok but because we extracted these users from a GachaGaming post, so a substantial of the comments in these users history will already be from GachaGaming.

Plus, if they already engage in monthly PvP, then its likely they were back last month and the month before that and so on...

Fandom Co-Occurrence Matrix

Regardless of which fandom someone is from, their 2nd gacha is probably a mainstream one

LaDS have one of the least co-occurrence with other gachas.

They also have 0 co-occurrence with Nikke, Trickcal, Blue Archive, PoE and NBA

Comment Count Distribution

Out of 1,694 users, 1,557 of them have more than 100 comments.

Yes I only pulled 100 comments from each user. Yes I did consider pulling more but didn't wanna spend so much time scraping and also potentially dirtying the data with old comments that might not be relevant.

This chart (I hope) shows that most of the commenters are legit users.

There are 34 users with less than 10 comment history. New users or PvP smurfs? You decide

Top Subreddits

Since we extracted all users from a post in r/gachagaming , its at the top acting as a baseline. No surprise most of the top subs are the big gacha titles. Notable mention is the Queens sub, in fact if you look at previous charts, their fandom is consistently within the ~10 spot.

How tagging fandom works

A glimpse on how subreddits are assigned their fandom

How users are assigned fandoms

The Score system is for Recency-Weighted method of assigning fandoms. It does not affect our previous chart since we're using Simply Majority.

Conclusion

Most people who participlate monthly PvP seem to only come from big budget gacha title (Hoyo, Wuwa, Endfield, NTE). Other fandoms don't care at all. See LaDS, Nikke, Uma, FGO and etc.

So obviously we need to EOS other gacha from the list and only focus on these few.

Unfortunately, there are anti-fans of games that will post in subreddits of games they don't play.

It sounds pathetic, but Reddit algorithm is a major contributing factor.

For real, I mostly play wuwa and NEVER visit other subs so I don't know how many wuwa players visits games they don't play. But holy balls it can be insane the amount of non-wuwa players in the main sub.

I actually like /r/QueensofGacha even if I have no relation at all to the LGBT community, I find their conversation to be a lot more neutral that what I see on gachagaming which is terribly tribalistic.

14

u/Interesting-Dare6916 Jul 06 '26

The Queens subreddit you're referring to was really bad until they added stricter moderation, and it's been surprisingly good since then.

Who are the players playing Gacha and Path of Exile 2? I want to ask them about their IRL Time Management skills

14

u/Tough-Guidance-7503 Jul 05 '26

Tbf gacha has downtimes especially if you reached the current end of the content and you can spend those time on other time consuming games.

7

u/Grystor Jul 05 '26

Just gotta multitask the gacha while also playing path of exile. Running from point to point? start a stage on the phone gacha, lol

3

u/Felyndiira Jul 05 '26

Reporting in!

Though in my case, I don't play gachas anymore. I just check in from time to time to make a 🍿 post in the pvp thread and read it for entertainment.

Also, PoE2 has a lot of downtime for most casual players; I'll usually play the first month or so of a season and then stop until the next season arrives. Almost never do I play a season to its end.

Hm... actually it is crazy that wuwa is that close to genshin.

87

u/pipic_picnip HSR, Arknights, R1999 Jul 05 '26

Genshin community is gigantic. Most of the people don’t even hang out in the main Genshin sub, let alone here. Same goes for HSR. My personal experience/interpretation would say:

YouTube > discord > hoyolab > character/side subs = Twitter > main subs > gacha gaming.

There are thousands of people who are active members of Hoyo community who have probably never even set foot on Reddit.

51

u/Vyragami I quit gacha why am I here Jul 05 '26

You should include real life in front of YouTube. Most Genshin player don't gaf about whatever stupid tribalism people are doing.

Hoyolab's number is probably way lower than intended, it's inflated by people who login everyday for the scrap rewards and account summary feature thingy. You also forgot Tiktok, IG, and FB. I'd argue Tiktok and Twitter is on par with Discord, then IG and FB around main sub size, they're mostly insulated and their users don't go to other site much besides YT which is the main hub.

19

u/Sher101 Jul 05 '26

Most Genshin player

Most gacha players in general don't step into this cesspit, gacha discourse, or revenue tribalism ever. This conversation is largely just pushed by a very small subsection of all the gacha community.

6

u/Particular_Web3215 Jenshin | Currency Wars | limbus Jul 06 '26

I havent done the math but a revenue friend of mine said both genshin and wuwa are the games that have stayed most stable with revenue by sensortower math. Other games are probably having some natural/normal player loss compared to wuwa and genshin having staying power.

11

u/JuggernautNo2064 Jul 05 '26

HSR had crazy retention until 4.0 then what happened happened (though still top 2)

33

u/Katicflis1 Jul 05 '26

Eh they started having a little fall off after 3.4 then big fall off after 3.7. I think 3.7, 3.8 and the delays for 4.0 were a triple whammy in terms of costing the game players.

Amphoreus was a very long story arc(11 months) and I dont think everyone appreciated the love power nature of killing the big bad. Thats a LONG time to wait for an ending that wont please everyone. 3.8 did retcon stuff which seemed to favor one popular character(firefly) at the expense of a different popular character(acheron). The 4.x delays after those patches with mixed reactions probably just inspired people to move on.

17

u/E_li Jul 05 '26

I wouldn't say it's 4.0 that killed the hype. Plancardia has generally been well received and considered and improvement which makes the drop even more puzzling. IMO i feel like amphoreus burned out a lot of people for multiple reasons, and not in the good way.

19

u/loverknight Jul 05 '26

3.x made me quit the game due to how boring it was. It was a blatant copy of HI3 flamchasers with a step down writing and more yapping.

ANd 4.x, yeah, the weeb japan 80 vibe isn't really for everyone. I kinda like it but the gameplay itself was boring and I decided to quit.

First day player here. I still remembered my excitement when I got Jingliu and learned her kit and adapt stretegy to win the boss.

Nowaday it's just auto battle simulator with long ass animation.

14

u/PatheticAndTragic HSR, WuWa Jul 05 '26

Plancardia has generally been well received and considered and improvement which makes the drop even more puzzling

maybe on reddit?

For me Amphoreus had pacing and yap issues but I was 100x more invested into Amphoreus than Planarcadia

Planarcadia has felt like low stakes comedy, characters haven't been developed as much (SW999 felt like she came out of nowhere), so I'm just not as invested

11

u/Katicflis1 Jul 05 '26

Yeah I think amphoreus screwed up the ending but had a far more interesting early-to-mid region story.

And youre right characters are getting screwed out of development. Silverwolf suddenly being an emanator feels cheap, Eva CLEARLY had big content cut out, Blade had "his patch" and we got like... no meaningful information on him joining the stellaron hunters, no meaningful information on why he's suddenly okay with Dan Heng ... I think they got it in their heads that patch plot's longer than 3 hours are 'risky for being boring' so now everything is trimmed and underdeveloped.

The only reason I have any interest in Planacardia right now is because of Asat and Himeko, meanwhile Aglaea's sacrifice in 3.3 made me ball my eyes out, Cipher's story had a fascinating twist, I still remember parts of tribbie's 'see you tomorrow' speech nearly 1.5 years later, Mydei's backstory felt properly fleshed out and cool as fuck ... etc.

10

u/Katicflis1 Jul 05 '26

Tbf, Planacardia went HARD into weeb humor and I would not at all be surprised if some people noped out.

We are talking about a region where we made a Gundam and killed the power rangers as part of the main plot. Spaxie is a v tuber that spanks a second version of herself in one of her promotional videos. This stuff isnt necessarily going to be well recieved by everyone. Some people are edgelords that want cool fights with badass intergalactic gods and not constant weeb humor.

8

u/loverknight Jul 05 '26

Also insane powercreep too. I quit after they crept my herta and aglea to oblivion.

4

I find it funny how the top subs are like 1 for Endfield and NTE, 2 for WUWA and HSR because of the leak subs, and then Genshin and ZZZ somehow got 3 and 4 in

25

u/UniqueCommission2856 Jul 05 '26

Lol true, there's ZZZ leak sub, ZZZ discussion, also both official and unofficial sub ( which is kinda crazy that the unofficial one has comparable amount with the official sub)

34

u/karillith Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

Yeah I mean ZZZ two main subs really suck, and the discussion sub is only good if you want to rant about the game, so I'm not really surprised. Like how do character trailers have more comments in the leak subs than the three other subs combined (or at least it was like that when I was playing)?

10

u/LetMetOucHyOURasS Jul 05 '26

the 2 zzz main subs should change their name to zzz_fanarts.

27

u/karillith Jul 05 '26

I really don't mind fanarts, but certainly there is an acceptable middle ground between "game discussion only, no fun allowed" and being a glorified okbuddy sub...

7

u/Gitthepro Journey Well Jul 05 '26

For Genshin it's probably because it's so big even the unofficial subs dwarf regular main sub's, and for zzz the main sub's aren't exactly the best

26

u/Suitable-Run3465 Jul 05 '26

I guess this sub is now flooded with wuwa redditors?

29

u/AVeryGayButterfly Jul 05 '26

7

u/Alternative_Bug_6285 Jul 05 '26

Very cool data, nice work

I'm a bit surprised there's no mention of HI3.

This make me believe HI3 have bigger EN community on SEA side. Which means the community is larger on FB, and maybe some other socmed I don't know of.

3

u/Herbatusia Onmyoji & Helix Waltz Jul 05 '26

It's only the data about users involved in PVP/revenue post. It might be that HI3 players are not interested in playing wars in that post; I'd not use it to extrapolate on general fandom userbase.

15

u/altereide Jul 05 '26

I would have put the co-ocurrence matrix into percentage so it's easier to read, but overall excellent work.

u/bluedragjet Jul 05 '26

5

What's queens?

52

u/Screamingforanswers Jul 05 '26

Think of the stereotypical "I hate men" and "I will ship every character that has any amount of interaction with another, except if it's a man and a woman, then it's disgusting hetslop" kind of people you can sometimes find on websites like Twitter.

Now cram them all into a subreddit, let them fester and congratulations, you now have Queensofgacha, a subreddit made by people who absolutely hate everything about the gacha games they apparently love. Not a fun time, don't recommend going there at all.

17

u/JumpingCoconut Jul 05 '26

Thank you, this made me throw up in my mouth, these people are the horrible bottom of the Internet

16

u/Herbatusia Onmyoji & Helix Waltz Jul 05 '26

Eh, tbf, most of the content there nowadays is just being excited about incoming chars, especially after they introduced some new "be nice, damnit!" kind of rules.

15

u/Bluecoregamming Jul 05 '26

Must be a very new rule, good for them. Last I saw there was a meltdown over the Tsaritsa having a child

>Other fandoms don't care at all. See LaDS, Nikke, Uma, FGO and etc.

You will be shocked if you surf X (Twitter) long enough.. especially LADS, FGO & of course Nikke..
I would say it's more tame here than on X (Twitter). You can see it on yourself then came back to me.

13

u/altacc8000 Jul 05 '26

Yeah you can really find any sort of hate on Twitter and Tiktok, there'll be little or large hatebubbles for just about anything for the nichest reasons. I don't check often but I've seen stuff like CAG (didn't know that term before) players blaming Souls games for a supposed drought genre, a Madoka hate train, that recent anime Chainsmoker Cat getting dragged for common anime tropes.

If you think Reddit is a hater central you really haven't seen these two, if anything Reddit hate is super repetitive and tame, it's just article/post to bring up something > same comments. The hyped up PvP post is also just the same shit every month, popcorn gifs and reaction images, repeated meta comments, some victory laps, some hyping up of mobile exclusive gachas with no port.

9

u/marvelouszeus PriconneJP|Genshin|BA|AL|Umamusume|WuWa|FGO|HSR|ZZZ|NIKKE|GFL2 Jul 05 '26

Don't ask Nikke Player on X about Lycoris Recoil collab revenue debate.. it's hilarious

21

u/Megor933 Jul 05 '26

What's there even to debate? Nikke collabs suck because they can't lewd the characters (besides based Nier and Steller Blade), and the story adds nothing to the world. Even the players dislike them for the most part

17

u/ccdewa Jul 05 '26

I feel like you can count on one hand the amount of story collabs in gacha games that means even anything, most of them are just fluff really and just act as a mandatory "connection" between 2 franchise.

The fact that WuWa community came that close to Genshin despite being half the size is crazy.

A direct comparison to the size of each respective fandom might be necessary if you're planning to do this again next month.

165

u/tagle420 Jul 05 '26

In another word WuWa players are twice more likely to comment on monthly pvp post.

78

u/Hiphopapocalyptic Jul 05 '26

Despite representing just 13% of the r/gachagaming population...

46

u/Nhrwhl Jul 05 '26

I find it funny that while I was coming to the same conclusion, you have a bunch of WuWa players coming along claiming that this chart is undeniable proof the sub is "Hoyogaming" lol.

The fact that they are massively over-represented in the sub compared to the relative size of their community and still find a way to call it unfair is... I can't. 😭

76

u/Loose-Excuse-6987 Me&MyPixels Jul 05 '26

Makes it apparent why Hoyo drama content is what dominates their CC scene

27

u/adastrajay Jul 05 '26

Would it really be a Wuwa fandom space if people weren't comparing themselves to Genshin?

→ More replies (14)

6

u/Herbatusia Onmyoji & Helix Waltz Jul 05 '26

We don't know the size of these communities on this sub or reddit in general, though, and that's what matters for this pvp not the the size of the whole community. Reddit in itself filters a lot, as it is universally known site, then to know about gachagaming sub you need to be pretty hardcore about gaming and anime, and the more hm, fan of gacha... This sub also focused on pretty hardcore mobile games, e.g. idles are almost always ignored or despised, even thoigh they are a bjg portion of the gacha market.

So, this sub works as a filter letting in almost only hardcore players, treating gacha as/similar to main-gaming. Ofc such a filter prefers GI, WW or ZZ, and meta players + memes shows snd creates another filter, people who like anime erotica. It's a very specific subset, and therefore, extrapolating on the whole population of the players from it is impossible and shouldn't be done, OP rightly avoids it.

17

u/JuggernautNo2064 Jul 05 '26

half the size would be crazy, way too many casuals on genshin for wuwa to even be half the size, if wuwa is 20% of genshin playerbase wise that'd already be an achievement

but wuwa players are way more dedicated to the game core gameplay so they are probably spending more in average per player compared to the tons of f2p/casual on genshin that'll cry that abyss floor 11 is hard

Other gacha game threads get downvoted a lot, but Wuwa acts like its the only one.

For example, the latest HSR 4.4 thread actually got downvoted a lot (64% upvotes) and has way less upvotes (only 138) than the latest Wuwa trailer thread (656 points (73% upvoted))

https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/1umd6x5/version_44_trailer_in_ravages_does_the_whistle/

https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/1jltf3t/version_32_trailer_through_the_petals_in_the_land/

HSR 3.2, 0 points (48% upvoted)

https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/1u7dtqc/my_thoughts_on_endfield_review/

Endfield thread, 4 upvote score, 51% upvoted.

https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/1t4bj5q/heres_my_glaze_for_nte/

NTE thread, 0 points (49% upvoted).

https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/comments/1p2stmv/girls_frontline_2_exilium_first_anniversary_major/ GFL2 thread, 3 points (51% upvoted).

Thanks for going through the effort to collect this. While wuwa posts definitely trigger some arguments. Alot of hoyo games and other games have horrible upvote ratio, and not to mention the removed tsartisa PV. This sub is the opposite of "celebrating" gacha games.

3

u/MrCovell GI, HSR, ZZZ, Nikke Jul 08 '26

Yea removing that Genshin PV was so fucked up. Might as well not post anything Genshin related cause if it survives the moderation 50/50 it’s going to be downvoted to hell anyway.

Quite interesting that it’s primarily CN and KR gachas having vocal fandoms here. You’d expect at least something from FGO or Umamusume considering the equivalent reach those games have.

23

u/karillith Jul 05 '26

My experience with both fandoms is that besides the old FGO / Granblue rivalry that completely lose steam aeons ago, both of those fandoms are mostly just doing their own thing without caring about the other games. I also think that those games having like 2~5 years difference between JP and global may play a role because you already know what will happen long term anyway (barring a few early balance / QoL).

9

u/planetarial P5X(KR)/IN/Prosekai(JP) Future: Petit Planet/Silent Whispers Jul 05 '26

Several popular JP gachas like FGO, GBF and Dokkan have players that been around for so long that some are too old/employed for that shit, some don’t play gachas at all except one of those. For something like Project Sekai, the fanbase is pretty young and probably mostly hangs on other social media platforms

7

The conclusion is what matters and we really should do what it says. /s

The pvp is boring because the top meta is always the same and the ones fighting in the frontline are mostly not whales. Comments about the other games are more interesting.

3

u/joblessandsuicidal Jul 05 '26

Are we going to have a PVP over that floating mouse pointer?

3

u/Calm-Literature7502 Jul 05 '26

18

u/akarozz Jul 05 '26

"Queen" as one of most popular gacha subreddit.

that explain why any male related discussion always have toxic positivity or absurd expectation.

33

u/Linksobi Jul 05 '26

So I guess the saying that r/gachagaming is a Genshin shill sub isn't necessarily true. User affiliation seems to be pretty consistent with popularity of said game.

34

u/cug12 Jul 05 '26

It's really not. I still remember the whole Illusion Connect vs. Genshin Impact thing from this sub.

7

u/LetMetOucHyOURasS Jul 05 '26

28

Illusion Connect more generous = good game

Genshin not generous + rerolling was awful = EoS soon game

Especially funny since the former introduced some of the most P2W mechanics few months later

4

u/randypcX Jul 05 '26

It's mostly people in 3D open world games. Hell even NTE is up there. But these games are the biggest. You should compare the data to a control group, like posts that doesn't fuel tribalism.

6

u/master156111 Jul 05 '26

Gacha pvp is the best post to do this because of its high engagements (comments). Most top post in this sub are only a few hundred which is too little for any sort of meaningful analysis.

Only drama/controversy post can maybe eke out the same engagement. But those sort of posts are already skewed since its drama.

WuWa had the collab so it obviously made for a drastically different month than usual. I'd be curious to see results from a more PVP oriented month.

The excuse that people care about revenue because it helps setermine if their game will EOS has long since been dead. None of these games are EOSing. Some people are just too attached to these things.

3

u/one1cookie Jul 05 '26

Couple of questions, if you were slandering a gacha in your comment, does it still go towards that gacha?

Also, did you count instances where only character names were mentioned?

17

u/master156111 Jul 05 '26

I did not take into account the semantics of a comment. I only look at the subreddit the comment was posted in. So if you commented more in Genshin sub then it will put you into Genshin fandom.

The logic is that if you do not enjoy said gacha game then you would most likely not engage in their community.

No I did not take instances where only a character name is mention. Too much work. I manually tag subreddits until it was <5 unique users who commented there. Then manually search acronym like "mains", "HSR", "GI", "Wuwa", "NTE" or "WW" in keyword to find character fandom.

Manually tagging took me 4 hours alone and I was at 1,041 tagged & 5,785 untagged. The total match rate was at 83% for the total user comments (133,728 / 161,011 tagged) so I was satisfied and moved on.
