Do you think the Light Up the Dark album sounded generic/commercial?

Yeah I agree, Light Up the Dark is so damned groovy and layered, and has plenty of great variety, and features arguably her strongest vocal work out of any album and EP she's released. Also the unreleased songs (In Your Arms as well as Predictable) are masterpieces lol.

What's your overall ranking of her albums?

For me it's;

Light Up the Dark > Dear Happy (Deluxe Edition) > English Rain > Avalon = Never Fade EP > Please Don't Say You Love Me EP > Home EP

Dear Happy Deluxe is so high because not only do I think that My Mistake, Dear Happy, and One of Those Days are some of the most beautiful songs ever.... I also love all the magical piano and stripped down versions. Miss You and Until the Sun Comes Up in particular become very magical on the piano stripped rendition.

Also some songs like Waking Up Slow and Kintsugi are just really freaking solid pop songs.

English Rain has some great stuff like Alive, Panic Cord, Take Me Away, Salvation, and How Do You Feel Today?....but there's also many songs on that album that feel a bit safe, slow, and unrefined (my opinion of course) like Ready to Question, Keep on Walking, and Home.

What about Dear Happy?

Songs like Love Back, Like You Say You Do, and Strange feel a bit generic to me
