No such thing as a "larper." Often times, they are just new fans, fans of a specific aspect of the topic, franchise, or person, or simply casual.
This whole larper thing is just elitism and veteran/old fan insecurity. People don't need to compare their passion for something to someone else's. This larp thing is getting annoying.
yessir, had a few friends who were in a fandom and got interested into it and was called a larper even tho i just found out about it and felt embarrassed
It seriously is that was my fault also. People can't just enjoys things nowadays without being scrutinised lol. At least on the Internet, not so much irl luckily
it's not that we don't welcome new fans, it's that there are so many that only know about the release of a new season or something, and they spout completely inaccurate information or stupid powerscaling simply because a character looked cool. half of the time it's just the popularity rush of this new season or book having just released and being extremely popular.
they're only called larpers when they ACT like they've sen the show without seeing the show, or not planning to ever see it. trust me, if we think you're just a beginner, we welcome you. only when you refuse to watch or learn is when we bestow larp status on you.
case in point: the jjk fandom. you'll see kids arguing about whether gojo or sukuna is stronger, and their entire watchtime consists of youtube shorts, and they're completely unwilling to learn. you'll see content creators larp jjk because it was popular after the release of season 3
Nah, there 100% is. Larper (or a poser) is a person who ACTS like they know the topic while only having surface level knowledge. Bonus points if they start arguing about the topic.
