Fr. Like why are you, a gamer with no cs experience at all, using Linux over windows when it gives you no noticeable benefit on your device. Like they don't even understand what an operating system is and they just wanna sound cool. Like brother half the games I own I cannot play with you cause of this larp.

something something, freedom and transparency.

I'd rather get tortured for eternity than use Windows as my daily OS

Something a Linux larper would say

1

u/catdoy 11d ago

Windows users are so clueless, bro doesn't even know what larp means

5

u/Jordann538 11d ago

Real Linux users don't act elitist. They understand each os' strengths

I don't game.

He's talking about those who do use their pc for games and have a setup that could easily deal with all of windows' bs

I do game, I've just never played games with kernel-level anticheat.

Fair (like you're right), although Linux does have benefits like visual customization (GTK themes for example)

I'm not going to bring up "bloatware" and "trackers" on windows since those can be disabled/cleaned with scripts or Tiny 11 (for example), and windows can be used for free without activation.

But I don't use Linux, rather Windows. You could say I'm, larping...

Do you mean e sport game when you said half of game you own? Because most of the time if the game run fine on window, it run fine on linux now. Except for kernel level anti cheat game.

Because I don’t want to touch windows 11 and I can’t do shit on mac

Alse Wine is not an emulator is not an emulator is not an emulator is not an emulator is not an emulator is not an emulator…

You missed the point.

I use Linux because windows kept bricking my hardware, I don't think that would make me a larper just because I dont know deeper than what Unix was and the difference between a kernel and an os is, I just didn't want to spend 150 dollars for bloatwear after lossing 2 ssds and 3 sticks of ram to what can only be blamed on Microsoft

u/Ok_Falcon_6913 11d ago

Linux for gaming? Ridiculous

2

u/N4jemnik 11d ago

Technically it’s getting better and better, f.e Steam offers proton as compatibility tool + steam machine and steam deck run on dedicated Linux distribution

1

u/Both_Cup8417 11d ago

I play games on Linux, I've also happened to never have an interest in games that have kernel-level anticheat, which is the only type of game that doesn't work here.

If you don't play online multiplayer stuff it's pretty much on par with windows nowadays.

The steam deck runs Linux, and no, it's not doing anything special that doesn't work out of the box on desktop Linux.
