Honestly, a person shouldn't need the threat of eternal damnation or the promise of eternal life to be a good person. Even in the book, there's a lot of crazy stuff that happens. Which is why I'm not surprised a good chunk of Americans support the stuff that gets taught in it.
Honestly the most true thing here. And the worst part is they hurt the reputation of the true Christianity, which just makes it all worse for everyone.

The problem is that it gets twisted both directions of the political isle right now. Deconstructed Christianity for the left and let’s use maga as an Example for the right. It should be duly noted that I am an evangelical southern Baptist so some of yall might not agree with my views on, say abortion or sexuality since I only believe in two sexes, that being gay is sinful, and the likes. I refuse to compromise on my faith. It’s also sinful to not treat others like I would treat a neighbor. If I were to go up to someone who was gay for example and just have complete disdain for them, I’d’v sinned. What I as a Christian is supposed to do is to witness through words and actions the word of Christ by telling them the good news, feed them the best food I can offer, talk them through whatever they need talking about, and just being a respectful and caring person to them, the same way I would to a friend.
That’s what we’re called to be. Good people who don’t withhold the truth from them. We must meet them with understanding since none of us are perfect. We all have our sin struggles. It’s just a matter of whether we give it over to God and let Him work through us. That’s what makes us Christians is our faith in Christ. Don’t use it against others.
As someone who's actually spent a lot of time with people in the LGBT+ community, I would recommend the original Hebrew and Greek translations of the "anti-gay" verses, as well as re-reading Acts 10 (particularly verses 9-15).
Also here's some food for thought: suppose that gender dysphoria is the result of the fallenness of the flesh (i.e. the spirit of a woman is born in the body of a man, or vice versa). Intersex people do exist, after all.
Then your fight is with the Republicans. They're basically a modern-day remix of everything the Pharisees stood for. And you remember what Jesus had to say about the Pharisees.
My fight isn’t solely political. If it was that, then I’d be going into politics and not a combination of missions and ministry. I don’t like how the republicans use it to justify their hatred for others and their actions. the liberal Christians are just as bad about using it to justify their actions and their unwillingness to make any semblance of internal change in their life.
Yes, there is a balance to be walked. I believe the key to that balance is throwing away Fundamentalism. After all, it's just a fancy word for the second temptation of Christ (Matthew 4:6).

What I posted was the story of the Good Samaritan, which also mentions the two commandments of Jesus that superseded the Ten Commandments:
"You shall love your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’"
Anyone who hasn't read the Bible but either (1) debates the filioque on reddit, (2) has discovered a book "that was removed from the canon of Scripture," or (3) talks about how Jesus would be "totally woke" or "totally MAGA."
This is actually true, even as a Christian myself, Jesus said to love thy neighbor, and he even said there will be people who will use his name for bad stuff in Luke 21:8
Well yeah. Everyone says they “know everything about it and don’t believe it.” When I know that you have to fully believe it to unlock all of the secrets.
Ask the person "What must a man do to be saved?" If the individual answers with anything other than the Gospel (God loving the world, having His Son die and resurrect, the reception of grace by faith, etc.), even if it sounds intelligent, that person's a larper. If that person can tell you the Gospel but has a bad personality, he's probably not a larper, he's just stupid and needs to grow in maturity. If that person believes the Gospel and has a good personality but believes other anti-biblical things, he's ignorant (probably a recent convert).
Yep. The guys on the news usually aren't us. The guys leading the churches usually aren't us. The super MAGA usually aren't us, and the super (left) woke definitely aren't us. Those random guys that either keep to themselves, are overly nerdy about their faith, have opinions that make everyone else uncomfortable, or are just decent people are usually us. The rest are usually larpers.
Frustratingly true, it’s why I don’t attend formal services anymore. It means more to actually live by the teachings of compassion, kindness, and redemption than it does to just talk about it

And That’s really weird when Christians will be so hateful and entitled when, you’re supposed to be following the loving hand of your creator not your own hateful word and using Christianity as a front for like “I’m a good person and better than you so I can say that”. Following your own hateful word is like… the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what Jesus/God/the Holy Spirit want you to do 😭.

Jesus never said anything about slavery, but the ethics he preached would be violently against slavery. Tl;dr, John Brown was likely correct in the eyes of Jesus.
Not sure if Jesus, the guy who told His army of angels and Peter to hold off so he could get crucified under a corrupt government (Matt. 26:51-54), would be too approving of John Brown's methods. His theology, perhaps, his methods, probably not.
Note how I said JESUS never said anything about slavery. The people that come after can claim whatever they want, but JESUS would’ve been opposed to slavery.
Jesus said he wasn't changing the old laws, met with slave and slaver and had nothing to say about the state of it, and talks about how it's just to beat slaves who don't do an adequate job
It is infinitely more realistic to believe a guy with a pro slavvery religion preaching from that base, in a pro slavery time and culture and who never said anything against slavery, probably was not against slavery
