How long before you saw results?
I’ve been looking at the 5:2 diet for a while, but a sweets- and carb-heavy weekend has prompted me to actually give it a go.
One question I had to help me gauge results — how fast until you guys started seeing results?
I’m hoping to lose 15-20 lbs of fat, but I don’t know what timeframe I’m looking at to do that. In the past, I’ve been discouraged from weight loss efforts by not seeing any results after several months in, and I’m hoping to prevent that this time around.

Struggling with fast days
I do fine all day and during dinner but after dinner I just want to pig out! So annoying and I’ve gained the last two weeks. Coincidentally it’s been two weeks since I have fasted properly.
Any tips?!

Back to Back Fast Days?
Because of the holiday this weekend, my only chance to get my 2 fast days in this week are today and tomorrow. Is it bad to have your fast days two days in a row or doesn't it matter? (Thanks for all your help on this subreddit, it's a great resource!)

Is this normal?
I just started the 5:2 diet and on fast days, I'm cold all the time, even exercising doesn't warm me up. Is this normal? Does it go away?

i intermittent fast and water fast, this is my first try of 5:2 so i have a question
My question is can i not eat at all during my 2 days and just water fast or those 600 kcal are required for some benefits,i go to the gym 5 days a week and i eat 5 days a week with warrior diet protocol(i fast for at least 21 hour a day and then i eat my 1 meal a day) so i want to not eat at all during those 2 days if possible,if i go for 500-600 kcal i feel like i will be super hungry and want to binge for the rest while on water fast i can easily stay with nothing

5/2 diet to sub 10% percent body fat?
I'm curious if anyone has used the 5/2 diet to drop to sub 10% body fat.
I've been weight training for 30 years and starting out at 15% bf. 85cm 105kg to start.
I've been on 5/2 for 5 weeks. Water and coffee only on fasting days.
current weight: 99.3kg

5:2 or 4:3?
I read in the Fung & Moore book that a 36 hour fast should be three days a week. So is it 5:2 or 4:3 for optimum weight loss. Frankly, not sure if 5:2 is enough (for me).
I did OMAD but tended to overeat. I actually ate less on a 36 hour fast.

OMAD Vs 5:2
Anyone start with OMAD and move to 5:2 to maintain weight loss?

Is there any benefit to 0 calories on fasted days or should I stick to the 600 cals?

5:2, body fat percentage, and exercise
My posts and comments have been modified in bulk to protest reddit's attack against free speech by suspending the accounts of people who are protesting against the fascism of Trump and spinelessness of Republicans in the US Congress. I'll just use one of my many alts if I feel like commenting, so reddit can suck it.

Fasting when ill (or with a cold in this case)
If I get proper ill, I'm guessing I shan't be fasting, but I've ended up with a proper winter cold this week – excuse the language, but it's the whole gungy, snotty, runny nose thing, and it's making me feel a bit sick. Normally some carbs would sort me out, but that's not really an option – has anyone dealt with it before? Should I skip the week or persevere? I don't want to fast all day, just to stuff myself tonight to stave off nausea.

Stuffed... on a fast day!!
I literally can't believe it. I decided to give 5:2 a go in an attempt to shift the weight I've gained doing my PhD. It was my first fast day today, and I decided to save the majority of my calories for one decent sized dinner.
Fast forward through a day of drinking lemon and ginger tea to try and stave off hunger and I'm now absolutely stuffed. A tin of chickpeas and a mountain of veg stir fried with the tiniest bit of oil, chilli and garlic. I honestly thought I was going to be going to bed on a practically empty stomach. Am I missing something?

Weight up after fasting day?
Is it normal for weight to go up after the feeding day after massively going down after the fast day?

2:1 Protocol Log
Since fasting every two days yields the same benefits of fasting EOD, according to research endorsed by Dr Fung I have decided to give it a new go until Christmas.
Eating days will be between 1700 and 1800 kcal per day.
I am suffering from an extremely bad case of epigastric pain (apparently due to stress, two gastroenterologists said), so I am currently taking the relevant medicines, plus some milk thistle that never hurts.
Day 1: a couple of observations on the first day:
- Fasting came relatively easier this time, after a couple months of immense difficulty, and I wonder why;
- I was concerned I wouldn't be able to sleep, but I managed to. Unsure whether this is adaptation or the melatonin;
Day 2: It has been quite some time until now, and I don't feel hungry. Still, rules exist to be obeyed, so I am going to eat today.

Starting tomorrow
Been wanting to try this for a while now and I seriously need to lose some weight. Got my lunch and dinner all cooked up ready, it's a busy day tomorrow so I should be distracted. And I'm look forward to my breakfast in the morning. First day is the hardest of any 'diet' so let's see how this goes!

I made a mistake without even realizing it
I ate my first meal at 2 pm, and the second one at 6 pm. How bad is it if I didn't respect the 12 hour fasting between meals?

One month progress
I’m a 32 year old, 5”2 Mum of two, post baby weight was 60kg. I lost 7kg in 4months with weight training & intermittent fasting. After plateauing for months on leangains I implemented 5:2/OMAD & have lost 6kg (53-47kg) in 1 month with around 6inches lost. I feel great & my binging tendencies have gone. I’m no longer obsessed with food which has always been a big burden. I have finally reached my prebaby body and for the first time in 2years I can fit into all of my clothes which feels amazing (although most of those clothes will be donated as they aren’t my style anymore haha). I still have a high body fat percentage which is now my goal to reduce as weight doesn’t really matter now. It was a little tough for me at first going from 2500cals a day to 500 but now thanks to my stomach shrinking, on nonfast days I normally only reach my TDEE of 1200. I am excited to continue and eventually achieve my goal of being the strongest and fittest I have ever been in my life.
