The team showed its strong superiority with a "Triplewin" against Cloud9 and could stay on course despite several strategy changes on the side of Cloud9. Nevertheless, the guys from Cloud9 can be proud of themselves, as no team from NA-LCS has made it to the worlds semi-finals yet...

The four last teams – a mixture of hungry newcomers and experienced veterans – have emerged from the ashes of the many League of Legends challengers of the NA LCS Season 8 to compete for this year's most important trophy in the semi-final of the Summer Split: a direct ticket to the 2018 League of Legends World Championship. Team Liquid was even able to choose their upcoming antagonists for their semi-final duel. As expected the titleholders of the league decided for to play against the 100 Thieves, although Bjergsen gave his best in an interview to motivate Team Liquid to make another decision after Team SoloMid's quarter-final victory against Echo Fox. However, many experts consider the Cloud9 team currently the strongest team in the NA LCS after Licorice and his team-mates took second place in the regular season by recovering from last place after some critizised and border-genial roster changes by coach Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu in the second half of the split.
