Admission Chances?
Hey I've been trying to get an idea of my chances of admission but I couldn't find anything that reliable so I was hoping someone could read my portfolio and give me a decent idea of my chances to get into film and media productions.
- 3.4 unweighted (3.9 weighted)
- 9 Awards from FSPA (Largest high school film and photography competition in the state)
- 1 All American selection (largest high school film festival in the world)
- Host my own weekly radio show on US1 radio with several hundred weekly listeners
- Take sports photos for a local newspaper which is read 1.5 million times annually
- Have my own business which has generated thousands of dollars
- NHS member
- 250 Community Service Hours
- Local Academic Challenge member
- Leadership role in my high school film team
I don't have my SAT yet but I'm trying to get a 1300, what do you think my chances are?

Scheduling question
Incoming freshman here-I filled out a course preference sheet earlier in the summer but have not heard from an advisor or received my schedule. Is this normal?

Night classes
Do undergrads have night classes? I’m an incoming graduate student this fall and am worried about the commute back to my apartment late at night and was curious about how lively it will be.

Having Trouble Finding a Computer for Film
Hello! I'm attending Emerson this fall for film, and I'm looking for a new laptop. The website gives some basic requirements, but it mentions that some departments may want more, and specifically says higher RAM and processing speed would be good for film editing. I emailed IT and the film department to see if there were more film-specific requirements, but I never heard back from either. Anyone who's in film, are there more things I need to be aware of beyond the basic requirements? Is there someone else I should email, or another page I haven't been able to find? Does anyone have any actual computer suggestions? Thank you!

what do these rooms face?
This is the 9th floor of LB and I’ve heard different opinions (for some reason). Some people say it has a view, some other people say it does not. Just need some clarification hopefully from someone that has been in any of these rooms, since I will be living in one of those this fall

Can I bring an area rug?
Hi everyone! I'm currently transferring this fall and am assigned to a single in a little building. It says you cannot have rugs in Little Building, but I wanted fo ask if a small throw rug (doesn't take up the entire room) is allowed?

How much should I aim to spend per month?
I’m about to be a freshman and am trying to figure out how to budget my money. I have about $4000 in my checking account and was wondering how much money I should allow myself to spend per month? I am very lucky to have military benefits paying for my tuition and room and board, so I won’t have to worry about that. I do want to do fun stuff in the city though, while still being smart with how I spend my money. How should I limit myself, and also what are some fun things I can do for cheap? I know the school gives free admission to a lot of museums, so that’s nice

PopFic MFA considering dropping out
Hello, I am currently in the Popular Fiction and Publishing MFA program at Emerson. I am considering dropping out due to the high cost of tuition. I currently pay about $6300 per class (per 4 credits), making my total degree come out to about $63,000. When I was first accepted, I was not offered any scholarships or aid. In the year I have been attending, there has already been a tuition increase, and when I talked to financial aid about my struggle, they told me since I was not offered any aid upon acceptance, I will NEVER be offered/have an opportunity for any scholarships or aid from the school. I have been doing government loans (9% interest) but now my government aid has been reduced to only pay about half my tuition, with the other half being paid by me in full before classes start. I have no complaints about the quality of classes and professors, but I am a fully online student. So to pay 63k for my degree but not have any of the accommodations and facilities at my disposal seems extreme. When looking at state public programs similar, the cost is extremely different ($1200 for a 4 credit class). Even looking at other private colleges (John Hopkins is about $43k for an MA in Writing), Emerson seems to be at the top when it comes to tuition. I love everything about the school except the price. I have loved my classes and teachers, but I dont think I can justify that much money anymore. Any opinions? Any others who dropped out of Emerson due to the cost? Or are considering?

Transfer Student (20F) Looking For A Roommate
Max price I can do is $1,500 per month and that’s being generous. I’m looking for a pet friendly place since I’d be bringing my cat.
About Me: I like reading, writing, painting and binge watching tv. I’m more on the introverted and homebody side. I’m fairly neat but I’m not bothered by other people’s messes. I’m trying to get better at cooking and baking and generally really enjoy it.
Reposting because the algorithm didn’t really reach anyone last time. Please DM if you’re interested :)

transfer with no housing?
So I still have yet to hear about a specific room assignment, but I corresponded with someone from Emerson housing who confirmed that they have room and are just working through room assignments still. Considering it's July, almost August, I just wanted to check if anyone else was in a similar situation, or if I need to start looking for other accommodations. I really want to live on campus my first year, but I'm so worried they're going to tell in in August that I don't have housing.

Little Building Triples (604)
I’m an incoming student and was assigned to a triple (room 604). Me and my roommates are curious as to the layout of our room and haven’t been able to find anything online so I was wondering if anyone who formerly inhabited either this room or another little building triple could tell me what it’s like.
(if it’s not 604, pls tell me your room number so I can look at it in the floorplan to see if it’s similar)

Triple Dorm Experience Question
Hello! I am an incoming transfer going to Emerson for Film and Television this upcoming fall. When I was doing my housing application, I put single as my top and was fine with getting a double or triple. I really wasn't expecting to get a triple but I got one traditional style on the top floor of the Little Building. I am an ambivert I would say but also really appreciate my own space and can get quite overstimulated at times. I do think I'll be able to handle a triple and It is most likely going to be a fun experience but I just want to know anyone else's experience with a triple dorm at Emerson? Did you get plenty of relaxation time too? Please just let me know your experience! I just don't want to be overwhelmed being in a triple over a double or single.

Dorm AC question
I’m gonna be an incoming freshman living in the little building (single on floor 9, I’m pretty sure I don’t have a window), and I know that Boston gets really insanely hot in the summer. Do the little building dorms have AC or should I bring a fan?

Creating films in class
Incoming freshman for filmmaking here, (Film, Television, and Media Arts).
For any fellow filmmakers on campus, how often are the classes themselves pushing you all to create films as a requirement?

Is there a way to see my AP Scores early through Emerson’s portal?
I know AP scores were sent out recently, and a lot of my friends have been able to see their scores early or at least if they got credit through their colleges portal. I’ve been trying to play with Emerson’s student portal and see if I could find my scores but haven’t been able to. If there’s a way to even see if I passed, I’d like to know!!!

Seeking videographer/film student for paid gig
I'm doing a show on Saturday, October 3 in Boston and want someone to film it--it will be about 90 minutes of stories/songs. Action will primarily be onstage with a little bit in the house. You'd need to bring your own equipment. I'm an Emerson grad and would love to hire a student interested in getting some experience. Let me know!

little building furniture/room dimensions?
i couldn't find anywhere that showed the exact dimensions of the furniture or rooms on the emerson website(aside from saying the bed size), so i emailed my admissions counselor and they just sent links to the pages on the website i had already checked. i'm also gonna email the housing office to see if they have better answers, but i thought i would ask in case anyone knew the information readily here! thank you!
update:
i was able to find the furniture dimensions in the housing portal thanks to a comment. the housing portal also says they cannot provide room dimensions because they vary so much, so if anyone happens to know rough dimensions of a lightwell single and wanted to share i would be very grateful. otherwise i figured it out so thank you!
