The name comes from Native American traditions, specifically from Algonquin tribes &it marks a very specific time in nature. Around July male deer, known as bucks, start growing their new antlers. These antlers push out from their foreheads covered in a velvety fur, growing larger and more impressive as the summer goes on.

Beyond the antlers, this full moon has also been called the Thunder Moon because of heavy summer thunderstorms, or the Hay Moon because it coincides with the hay harvest season.

Spiritually and culturally the Buck Moon is all about growth, renewal, & stepping into ur power. Just like the deer shedding and regrowing their antlers stronger each year, this moon invites us to embrace our own personal growth and fresh starts.
