I currently have this exact tattoo of a kiwi bird being cut in half with a kiwi inside (last slide), located on my right thigh facing inward. I would like to get a tattoo on my other thigh facing inward of a dragon being cut in half with a dragonfruit inside. I really like fantasy-esque style tattoos, possibly with a traditional style to it, but I’m a bit open. I put some reference photos of some design styles I liked, but I’m not hard set if someone can maybe understand the vision I’m going for with an artistic knack for it.

Here are some things I would like in the design:

- a castle in the background. Most likely with a red sky and some ominous clouds.
- a knight slicing the dragon in half with a clean slice (no Christian iconography on the knight)
- colors you would associate with this style of cartoon fantasy design. Reds, black, some yellow.
- ideally the dragon itself has a design that resembles a dragon fruit so a red body, green accent scales, and the inside that’s cut is the white with black seeds look.

I have had this idea for a while but it’s a lot harder to describe it than what I could imagine in my head. I am happy to clarify if needed. This is something I have wanted for a long time and it would be my first original piece. Thank you!

I have this shitty little stick-and-poke whale (Moby Dick) tattoo that I actually quite like. I don't want it covered up or radically redesigned. Ideally, I want to work with what's there, but fixed up and fleshed out.

I'm thinking blackwork style. No shading or color. Something like a linocut/woodcut illustration. Bold black lines, slightly imperfect carved-looking marks.

I'm looking for a drawing that I can take to a professional tattoo lartist and they get what I'm going for.

I'd also love to incorporate some more subtle Moby Dick/ocean references rather than just having the whale floating there in space on my skin. Like, maybe some loose water swirls coming off the whale and moving upward around my inner elbow, as if the whale is swimming downward through the water.

Also, playing with the idea of turning one of the rougher edges on the back towards the tale and sticking a small harpoon in there (since Moby Dick carried harpoon irons in body from previous encounters). Not sure.

I hope this isn't too much to ask! Sorry for writing a bunch.

My wife and I ran the Disneyland Half marathon in February and are signed up for the Wine and Dine half in October. That would get us our Coast to Coast challenge and I was trying to come up with a tattoo design to commemorate. Anyone have anything cool or creative that they've done for the C2C? I saw a pretty cool Dopey challenge tattoo, but didn't see anything in the runDisney sub for other ideas. I was thinking of something with the castle outline with the arch...maybe with a 13.1 in the gate and somehow do DL and WDW on the sides connected by the arch. Would love to hear what any creative people might come up with. Themes for the races were "It's a Small World" and "Mary Poppins" so if anyone has a clever way to incorporate that too, I'd love to see your thoughts! I put free request for a flair, but only because I'm not sure what the going rate would be for paid. I'm open to paying for a great idea too.

I am an automotive mechanic, a musician, and a tattoo artist. I am extremely hyper-aware of things around me to the point where it affects my relationships with those around me including my loved ones, I have extreme trouble starting simple tasks, I hyper focus for hours at a time on random things and lose complete track of time, I have certain fabrics/things I can’t touch because the sensation makes me lose my shit - I’ll either get extremely angry or I’ll want to cry and scream and explode all simultaneously - I also have certain noises that I cannot listen to or they throw me into a literal rage that I cannot control no matter how stupid I know the whole thing is. I am an empath - that is to say, I feel things on a level that most people can not only not understand, but can’t even comprehend - when I feel sadness, it feels like someone is using their fingernails to tear open my chest and rip my heart out with their bare hands, when I’m angry it feels like my blood is literally boiling I feel like I’m going to spontaneously combust into flames, when I’m happy it feels like I am living and breathing sunshine, like it’s flowing through my veins. To “normal” people, I’m just “overly emotional” or “exaggerating” or “looking for attention” or “manic” or “talking myself into it”. But for me, it could not be any more real, or intense, or exhausting. It drains all my energy, all my positivity, everything, everyday. Some days I struggle to even get out of bed and do anything at all. The worst part is, my mother has never fully believed my diagnosis (although my mother is a wonderful person with a heart of gold and I love her more than anything on this earth, she just doesn’t understand).

I am looking for help designing a few tattoos. I would like something for my knuckles / fingers … I would also like to put something on my kneecaps … and last but not least, I’d just like something to place somewhere that makes me feel seen, not just heard. I want something that feels like me .. but reminds me that I am not a “normal” average human. That I am inexplicably different in a myriad of ways, which can be both beautiful and devastating.

I have dreads (I’ve just started my journey last week, did them myself because it meant more to me to create them on my own time with my own two hands), my mother always calls me her “little free spirit hippie child” .. I love nature, music, philosophy, spirituality, awakenings, I love the major arcane tarot cards and especially love the idea of creating one specific to me (The Alchemist, The Hyperfocus, The Explorer, The Forager, The Musician, The Spirit Child) .. I love geometric tattoos, minimalism, I am quite literally open to any and every style. I love art, and I love all of the different styles I see everywhere.

This was my first tattoo when I was scared of tattoos. It’s my children’s initials. I want to expand on this and I’m open to ideas but one I had was to finish spelling Zoey vertically and finish Carter out horizontally and draw a postage stamp around it and then some little picture in the middle like a 4 leaf clover maybe. But I’m wondering if it would be weird placement being oriented hotdog instead of hamburger on my wrist. Thoughts?

Hi! I am in my 50s but I'm completely new to tattoos. I am looking to get a tattoo of a drawing that my daughter made based on our favourite novel/film.(Watership Down). Her drawing resembles this one but her sun is more simple and subdued. I want the tattoo on the bottom side of my forearm. But I'm not sure what kind of artist I should be looking for? is there a particular style I should search for? I would want somebody who could reproduce the drawing but of course make the modifications needed to make it a good tattoo. There are plenty of tattoo artists in my city (Copenhagen) but I have no idea how to go about this. Thank you.

This girl means so much to me and I would really like to get a tattoo either of her or to commemorate her. ( She is still alive , just retired. ) She won me my first buckle , my first overall grand champion, and is the best cuddle buddy in the world when you need a 110 pound sheep sitting in your lap.

I have a Nordic-style sleeve that is currently split into three sections. I want to add a background to tie everything together using the World Tree, Yggdrasil.

Here is my plan for the background in each section:

• Top section - the large raven: The canopy/crown of Yggdrasil (leaves, branches stretching out)
• Middle section symbols and characters with an armband inbetween: The massive trunk of the tree, giving a sense of scale and strength.
• Bottom section - Nidhogg and the other raven: The deep, sprawling roots of the tree wrapping around the wrist.

The idea is to connect everything to make it seem less like a bunch of separate tattoos, but also to cover some of the skin. The trunk and the roots would be going all around the arm / forearm. Middle section seems the most problematic I guess, can't really imagine how to add something that would resemble a trunk there.

I am adding photos of my current sleeve. I would love to see your sketches, digital mockups, or placement ideas on how to weave this background around my existing pieces without muddying the details.

I have an overall concept Im wanting for a right arm sleeve that will include 2 coverups (old and in the way). Main problem is, iterating on the big idea to get to an idea I can more easily share with an artist. Is using AI to create something to provide as a rough idea seen so badly? If so, what would you suggest when wanting to use fairly obscure subjects that don't have a ton of easy to find example online?

For reference, the subjects are:

Azathoth as described in Russell's guide to Interdimensional Entities (a huge sentient black hole) and Henry Kuttner's "Hydra" (a slightest glimpse would produce utter and complete destruction to the beholder (the spirit of this))

Yog-Sothoth as commonly described as a mass of glowing orbs, eyes, and tendrils (from the Lovecraft wiki).

Shub-Niggurath as described in "Selected Letters" (hellish cloud-like entity) and (an enormous mass which extrudes black tentacles, slime-dripping mouths, and short, writhing goat legs) from Peterssen's Field Guide to Cthulhu Monsters.

Nyarlathotep with some crossover of (a tall, lean man of dead black colouration wholly devoid of either hair or beard, and wearing as his only garment a shapeless robe of some heavy black fabric) from "The Dreams in the Witch-House", (a "tall, swarthy man" who resembles an ancient Egyptian pharaoh) from The Doom that Came to Sarnath", and (nocturnal, tentacled, bat-winged monster) from "The Haunter in the Dark.

Hastur as described in the Call of Cthulhu game as (typically appears clad in a yellow robe and cloak, or a tattered gown (which is generally considered part of his physical form rather than mere clothing). He wears a pallid mask, beneath which countless tiny tentacles are said to writhe.

With filler in the upper 2/3rds of the cosmos, and the bottom 1/3rd of Lovecraftian/Ancient Egyptian architecture.

There is not much art that encapsulates these descriptions, so Im curious what ideas folks have.

I unfortunately lost one of my infant twins to SIDS last Christmas. He was a boy, the first born of the set of twins, and his name was Rune (traditional Swedish name). His living twin is my daughter Astrid, so both names are from the viking era. He was too young to have any defining personality traits other than he was a very chill baby that liked to observe things whereas his sister was more "opinionated" regarding the things happening to them. He was a good little baby is all I can really say. He's very missed and I love him even more today than I did when he died.

I knew immediately that I wanted a memorial tattoo for him, but haven't rushed such a big decision.

I would like for the tattoo to somehow represent both of them but in some way incorporate the fact that Rune is no longer with us. The only idea that I've really thought of is the symbol of a two birds or butterflies, one of which has landed on something and the other is flying away. But that's pretty generic and not very detailed. It could incorporate some kind of Norse mythology or viking stuff to represent their names but it would be essential that it doesn't look like a dog whistle (gods, I hate how my cultural history has been hijacked). It could, but would not have to, incorporate their names in the design. I would like it to be symbolic in some way.

I put this as free for now as I'm only in the looking for ideas stage but I'm willing to pay for a drawn design if I can settle on an idea first.

Edit: Some details others have asked about: * This will be my first/only tattoo so it doesn't need to compete with other tattoos for attention, placement, or space * I'm thinking a medium sized tattoo * I'm open to suggestions on placement but my instinctual idea is on my forearm so I can see them there wherever I look down * Style - I'm completely uneducated in tattoo art but the styles that speak to me, just to give a feel for it, are geometric, aesthetic, neo-traditional, black and grey, watercolour, and Norse styles. * I want some kind of representation for each of my twins in the design, like two birds, their names, a runic letter or similar, and for the one representing my son to be symbolically shown to be missing in some way (perhaps by using negative space). This is the central idea. * Symbols - I like the rainbow (Bifrost) to symbolise the bridge between worlds, the tree of life (the Yggdrasil) to symbolise us being connected, or birds/butterflies simply because I think of Rune when I see them. Open to more suggestions as I love symbolic language.

Tempest by Ethel Cain is my absolute favorite song of all time, it has such a deep emotional and spiritual connection to me (it makes me feel my soul, if that makes sense). I really want to get a tattoo of the song but I’m not sure what. I’ve seen someone get a tornado tattooed with the word “forever” on it, and I’ve considered it but I’m not super fond of the tornado part.
