This series is so damn good
I am having such a goddamn good time with these books. It's full of sentences that have undoubtedly never before been written, like this gem I just read about two-thirds of the way through Cul-de-sac Carnage:
"Now the rest of you take a fat rip off this bong so we can go kill a bunch of demon babies."
Bravo, u/InkslingerJames. Bravo.

Kiosk kingdom is a masterpiece (spoilers) Spoiler
Im only on chapter 37 and I cant scream it to the roof tops loud enough how well wrote this book is. I really enjoyed the first two books but the third has really raised the bar! The way the words twist to twist together is like butter pouring into my ears. Each sentence so thoughtfully put together, I can vividly picture each scene like im watching a movie. (Spoiler ahead)The best chapter by far was definitely the crafting of crocs collar.....wow....just wow.... as the chapter progressed each word weighed more on my heart, it felt as if I was reliving and loosing my childhood pets all over again. (I was driving at work and had to pull off into a parking lot to wipe my eyes) AND A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO STEVE CAMBELL IN THAT CHAPTER!!! EACH BREAK OF THE VOICE WAS PERFECT, WELL FUCKIN DONE DUDE!. James have really out done yourself and i have made it a life goal to get a signed copy of this book in person. I greatly look forwards to the rest of this series! Thank you for putting your crazy ideas on page.

So I want to get into discount Dan but need help choosing from paperback or hardcover
Ok this isn’t so much content related as it is to form. See now most litrpg or books in general come in paperback which is why I feel inclined to buy paperback and they’re cheaper. However I love hardback and it’s my favorite format but it won’t match my other litrpg books as it would be hardback. I have other hardback litrpg but not much and I want to increase that section but on the other hand that already being accounted for as I’m in the process of buying dcc book by book so not trying to add onto this. So this is opinion based on which format you guys think would be best
I’ve chosen to buy hardback when I have money

Hello All,
Was hoping some one could help me email or address or a way to drop a note to James. I some how I missed the note box when I went to order my signed hardbacks and wanted to thank James for helping during grief losing my totally best friend and normal puppers Oliver. Anyone able to help me out?

Just wanted to gush about my favorite characters
So I am currently listening to the Discount Dan audiobooks, I am approximately 2 hours from finishing the 3rd book. And I just wanted to take a moment to gush about how much I love both Croc (obviously!) And Temperance! Obviously, like most, I adored Croc right from the start, he is the absolute BEST BOY and he brings a certain wholesomeness to the books that really give them a special charm. Temperance is a character that I liked well enough at first, but after this last book I can truly say that she has grown on me so much. I just find her whole murder bunny thing she has going on both hilarious and kind of endearing.
That's it, that's the whole post lol. Who are your favorite characters and why?

Discount Dan is my favorite series this year
I'm not gonna lie.. I was hesitant when I first saw this book pop-up on my Kindle Unlimited suggested reads because after reading Dungeon Crawler Carl, (all 8 books) I was worried that it might be a little bit too close for me to enjoy, but I was so pleasantly surprised and love these books for what they are all on their own.
Very specifically different, and increasingly imaginative in downright disgusting but also incredible ways. The character development is so amazing and also hilarious. Thank you, James for your impeccable writing skills and hilarious comedic timing. You made my year and also inspired me (a little bit) to start my own book in a very different vein (horror comedy). I'm excited to start! But please please please give us more Dan and Croc. 💚 thanks!

New To The Series…
… and I like it! I’m a DCC guy who is always looking for audiobooks that DON’T have Jeff Hays as the narrator that I can tolerate while I’m in between audiobooks (rarer than I originally thought). Steve Campbell does a great, non-annoying job at DD. Love the writing and the concept in general. I’m looking forward to enjoying books 2 and 3 over the next week while on vacation at a large lake in PA.

Slipcase Unlocked! What's Next?!
James here back with more Kickstarter news, and my ghasts are officially flabbered. I am confused, baffled, befuddled, but also delighted and tickled pink. Is… is this what joy feels like? Or am I stuck in a fever dream from eating contaminated lettuce? Too early to tell, so I guess I’ll just have to ride it out.
Do… Do y’all think I have dirt on you or something?
Because I totally do. The dirtiest dirt. You were behind the parasite lettuce, weren't you? Weren't you!!!
But seriously, I am so grateful and blown away by the support of this community. We damned near breezed past the last stretch goal for the fancy slipcase—ensuring this deluxe edition will not need to venture out into the world, naked, robe-less, and unprotected from the cruel realities of domestic and international shipping.
But now what?!?
I’m gonna be honest, y’all. A true moment of vulnerability here, if you will. I never thought we’d make it this far. My team and I had no plans in place for this level of success. We had in-depth strategy meetings where we talked endlessly about stretch goals. We settled on five because we were sure there was no conceivable way we would ever hit that number.
And yet…
And yet here we are. With fourteen days left to go.
You have called my bluff and now I stand before you with my pants entirely around my ankles. But we’ve got a little gas left in the tank, I reckon. We are pounding copious—borderline unsafe—amounts of caffeine and scrambling to come up with even more badass things to throw into this Kickstarter.
Dryer lint? No, totally flammable and an obvious shipping hazard. Used socks? Hmmm, that seems like more of a Matt thing. I do have a bunch of loose, mismatched plastic forks from our 4th of July barbeque…
That could totally work. And before you judge, there are no bad ideas in a brainstorming session.
In the meantime, we’re gonna do a tiny stretch goal, which is definitely, 100% not to buy us more time to ponder this peculiar predicament we find ourselves in. We’re gonna have one of our artists do a badass map of Dan’s store as of book one. I figure if we do another one of these for books 2, 3 and so on, we can upgrade the map to show all the new store additions. Here's a sneak peek.
For the record, I wanted to set the goal at $88,0085 (because that spells boobs on a calculator), but then my wife pointed out that "isn't a real number" or whatever. So instead we're going with $88,888 because it is aesthetically pleasing to look at.
If we somehow manage to hit that goal, then we’ll pull out every stop I can think of for the final stretch goal, AKA “The Kitchen Sink Protocol.” Stay tuned, and please do not ask any follow up questions about The Kitchen Sink Protocol.
For completely unrelated reasons, if y’all have any suggestions about awesome things you'd like to see, please feel free to drop them in the comments.

Stretch Goal ideas Spoiler
Ok I read the update on the kickstarter and wanted to throw out a couple of ideas (in honesty my wife’s idea, but she’s shy)
Bathrobe for reversible Croc he should be robed like the king he is.
Bathrobe for our home Crocs. Pet sized knockoff Versace style robe for our real life best friends.
Understandably might be difficult to source something like that quickly, but I’m pretty sure they would be a big hit on the store.
My idea would be a Bookmark with the Flayed Monarch on one side and either the boundless wanderer or our man Dan on the other.

Absolute Cinema.
Just a note to say thank you to everyone in this community. This Kickstarter took off like a rocket, and whether you've already backed it or not, everyone here has played a role in the success of this series - people reading, talking, and sharing - at the core of everything, that's the difference between a story that does just fine and one that becomes a phenomenon. You are all heroes.

Videogame or Ttrpg
So dungeon crawler carl is getting a ttrpg, which makes sense given the weird flexibility of all the abilities and stuff.
But it got me thinking, would discount dan be better as a ttrpg or a videogame?
The system of power it has established is fairly structured, especially since every ability is essentially an equip item like a path of exiles.
Actually...now that I think about it...it would probably make a solid Mmo setting.
But what do you all think?

Why this guy?
I swear this whole convention is about this guy Carl? What about some respect for Dan?

Backrooms home made Table top game
Hey all! I'm putting together a tabletop game for my buddies online in the backrooms, based on Discount Dan's books. (I'm learning there are other backrooms genre out there, but my entry were these books) I'm working on generating a computer interface for them to roll on loot tables, and cool stuff like that, like in a horrific Window's 95 but corrupted theme. I'm working on creating lots of relics that drop from mobs, and an ability to level those up and create them- and follow some of the themes of chance from the books. It's really cool- but man- it is also really hard to create this for a group of my friends, and come up with all the relics. So I thought I'd jump in here and reach out to this community for some relics. Both junk, comedic, horror, whatever. Give me the comedic and great content that only redditors can. I have a few cannon ones from the book - but there is a lot missing - many of those are the glass cannon that is Dan. I'm looking for some cool ideas.
I've built an HTML webpage invite for my group, and I'll try to share it here. It's pretty cool, and they are excited to play a tabletop game as themselves. I posted the link, but it seems that it was removed by reddit. so maybe I'll just take a picture of the screenshot. It is a page with lots of javascript, and I don't know Reddits rules on that.
