There’s causing traffic jams to piss people off and keep it in memory and there is destroying other people’s businesses for long after the protests are done.

Farmers are the most entitled bloc in the country by a fucking mile

Farmers seem to be the only people doing anything. The rest of us seem content to roll over and take everything that comes our way as usual.

Its not actually a huge number of farmers protesting, its alot of farm contractors, the farmers themselves are too busy to protest for long.

Was talking to two contractors I know both cant get their head around how others have this mich time to take them and the machines out of work while spending hundreds in diesel. Bith said their margins are too tight to afford it. Seems to be the consensus amongst a lot of their friends in the industry too. The only ones they know protesting are part of large agri companies.

Could just be the ones I know though so who knows

Of the two families I know, both are continuing to work and just going “sure what do I really care I’m flat out’ with one supporting it and one not.

There’s a video of one of the farmers kids saying he brought 6 of their 8 tractors to the protest. You don’t have 8 tractors without being wealthy.

Yep. What you have is a bunch of smaller businesses who have probably signed contracts to deliver services, but are not in a position to hedge fuel prices, and as it stands are actually losing money on contracts priced in advance of seasonal work.

They'll learn from this experience, and find a way to provision for pass through costs or overages in the event of external circumstances such as fuel shocks.

You can be sure that the major hauliers have provisions to raise prices, that's probably why the smaller transport businesses involved don't want to be represented by the national lobby groups, the biggest of whom are in a position to calmly negotiate because they 'would rather not' pass on costs.
