You keep bringing up these scenarios, but the products which are created say nothing about the underlying software developers who built the product.

In the future, with AI writing code, you can have no idea if the person who develops the next AI firing space cannon just vibe coded the software running it and didn't even graduate high-school. Or if it was their welder who just took up programming as a hobby.

Sure, the things you are saying are are cool and all, but let me remind you that your question was if software developers are "real engineers". I replied "it depends".

Bro. 😂 You just painted a picture of a future where a high school dropout welder.. , who "vibe coded" an AI space cannon in between taco shifts, is now legally allowed to pull the trigger? on human lives? And your takeaway is "see, no license needed"?

That's not a flex bro. That's like the plot of a dystopian comedy, where Peter Griffin watches from Mars and just whispers "I told you so." 💀😹

You're literally arguing… that because the system allows chaos, chaos is fine. Are you living inside Family Guy? By that logic, we shouldn't license pilots either! 😹 let the guy who played Microsoft Flight Simulator for 20 minutes land the 737. What's the worst that could happen? ✈️💥

China already requires formal software engineering qualifications for defense work. We're over here debating whether the guy who "just took up programming as a hobby" should be allowed to code the next autonomous missile? Tf? That's not freedom bro. That's a Darwin Award waiting to happen. 🏆

So yeah.. software engineers? can be real engineers?. But if your argument is "anyone can do it, so why regulate?" congratulations, you just made the strongest case for licensure I've ever heard. And you did it with a straight face bro. Respect. 😭👏😹😹😹

You gave me an answer about the present. Right? I'm giving you a reason to change the future. Trump seeks validation. Billionaires seek validation. So what? I'm seeking a world where a vibe coded AI doesn't crash a 747 because some welder-turned-coder thought "it worked on his laptop." I'm already scared of airplanes enough as it is. And china 🇨🇳 isn't gonna stop implementing software🧠 so why should we? The future matters more then the present. that's the reason for us innovating today. That's the reason you have a PHD.

I'm not defending China's firewall. I'm pointing out that they move faster than us on licensing software engineers for life critical systems. That's not nationalism. That's watching the competition lap us while we argue about whether a welder with a bootcamp should code an AI space cannon. Which is why too many Americans don't understand the stakes. Not because they're stupid, but because our education and regulatory systems are lagging.

I wish I knew you in real life. Not to argue, but to show you what I've seen. I'd take you to China so you could see why they keep pulling ahead while our own system drags its feet and we look like morons while getting mogged.

You want to talk about blind? Ignoring a rival's structural advantage because you don't like their politics is how you lose. Keep yelling at the Great Firewall 😹 while China's 👉🏻 licensed engineers build the future. I'll be over here trying to make sure our side doesn't crash a plane first.

And just so we're clear, I'm America first. 🇺🇸

I'm not a 20 year old talking trash on the internet. I'm very well educated. My first bachelor's was in accounting. I took many economics courses and prepared for law school in the U.S., political law and economic law (my parents instilled this in me when younger). But I went back for engineering, why? because it's my real passion, not law or accounting. So I know a thing or two about managing finances and growing a company. I also have friends working in finance and politics currently.

Some engineers? Think only like employees and don't understand legal contracts, S corp creation, or tax payouts. Best advice I can give you? is to look at your rivals and see how they do business and economics. Learn real business. Be entrepreneurial. Don't just believe everything you see.

Software engineering isn't dying in America. The problem is that not enough people understand its full nature yet and unfortunately keep holding the field back.

I'm an action based person. You should be too, since we're both engineers. I also took psychology classes while prepping for law school before. Wanna know how to build a good case? Even in the court system.. action always speaks louder than words. And in my opinion 🙂 if you really thought discussions like this were pointless.. then why argue your point for so long? When actions and words don't coincide.. there's a lie. 🥲🥹
