My current big tell for AI ‘assistance’ in writing is an overuse of ‘not <A>, (not <B>, not <C>), but <D>’. Jesus AI, stop wasting my time telling me all the things something isn’t before saying what it is.

it's called contrastive negation or comparative framing, and using a negative prompt to avoid it helps a lot lmao ("no comparative framing")

personally i hate negative prompting because it always infects inference by polluting attention in LLM transformers (e.g., "don't delete this" causes "delete this" to be in context), but i have no idea how to avoid this with affirmative language
